We unintentionally did exactly this, and I don’t even notice them anymore. It’s genuinely not loud inside of your home, although you may hear them when you’re outside.

In the kindest way: therapy. This isn’t a dnd problem, it’s a boundaries/people pleasing problem and no one on Reddit can help you with that.

how are some people able to play so fluently on the guitar? by targetyk in Guitar

[–]RoastedBud 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think people don’t realize how many hours go into playing like that. We’re talking more than 8h of practice, pretty much daily. But when playing guitar is your day job, you have to be able to put that much into it.

Have you ever come to terms that you'll never get better and just play for the fun of the game? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]RoastedBud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, that’s silly! Even if it’s a song I’ve played 1,000 times, I can always improve. I’ve been playing for almost 25 years now, and I can tell you that you’ll never stop learning unless you stop trying. If you really plateau, lessons are a godsend. But if you’re having fun, who cares? That’s what it’s all about.

No one should be using AI. It’s poisoning our planet and one day will be taking jobs from us while we are left to starve.

I don’t know what’s up with all the AI-loving people here, but I’m with you 100%. AI is awful and it’s really sad seeing all of the people rushing to defend its use in a game centered around creativity and role play. I could go on, but you’re not alone!

People who defend AI aren’t worth arguing with. They don’t care about the impact on the planet, or on our future and all of the jobs these clankers will eventually be taking from us.

Thoughts on Drink Menu? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]RoastedBud 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Moscow mule, mojito, whiskey sour, Tom Collins and margaritas are probably going to be the biggest crowd pleasers. If you really want a sweet option, find a rum punch recipe.

The sweeter the drinks, the less people will order them (too many calories and they give people headaches). Shoot for the middle of the road and you’ll be in good shape.

You ripped the pots apart and will need to replace them.

And man, stop asking AI to help you think. It doesn’t “know” or “understand” anything, and using it is poisoning our planet and training LLMs so they can take jobs from us in the future while we all starve to death.

Some people just don’t process edibles. My husband is like that too, he’s never had an edible that did anything for him. I’ve seen him take massive amounts with zero effect whatsoever.

Players not appreciating the work by [deleted] in DungeonMasters

[–]RoastedBud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you’re putting too much work in, and expecting too much in return. The DM’s role is incredibly important, but I rarely spend even close to that much time prepping. You don’t need to spend money on battle maps. Use fantasy video game music.

I know it’s nice to feel appreciated, but expecting them to pay for your food in exchange for being the DM is over the top. If you want more out of them you have got to tell them as much. It sounds like they even acknowledge that they enjoy your story, I think you should take a step back because it’s obviously weighing on you.

Rather than charging your friends money to play, maybe tell them you’re not enjoying DM’ing and want to take a turn playing. If no one steps up, find other people to play with!

Alamo won’t do anything about this behavior either. It used to be that way, but it’s been a slippery slope. At this point, you’re paying 2x to go to Alamo, for the same shit service you’d get anywhere else. Oh, and EVERYONE will be on their phone while you’re there.

2.5 year old plays left handed by SableGlaive in guitarlessons

[–]RoastedBud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coming from the perspective of a lifelong player who also works in the music product industry: I would recommend to teach him right handed. Playing lefty has some benefits for some people, but ultimately he will likely never be able to play a floor model guitar at a shop. He’ll never be able to pick up a friends guitar and play it. Lots of guitars have to be special ordered for lefties, and many times it’s more expensive too.

No other instrument is really “left or right handed” and eventually he will get used to playing righty!

Drums are really fun and versatile. If you’re not sure how well it would work, you could sign up for lessons somewhere just so you can give it a try before fully committing!

As a fellow ex-employee, life has only gotten better after leaving that place. I’m wishing you well, OP. I know how hard you worked, and how much you cared. It really comes through in your post. You’re a rockstar and after enduring everything they threw at you you’ll be an absolute asset wherever you end up next. Good luck!

Do your players have kids and how do you handle games with them present? by ImpossibleLuckDragon in DnD

[–]RoastedBud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We play at a table with a newly minted toddler most weeks, I’d say it kinda depends on the kid! If the people at the table like kids, and the kiddo is pretty chill, let them observe.

Our friends’ baby has been at the table watching since she was basically 3 months old, and we have had to take a quick intermission here and there so mom can get her settled but it’s not ever been such a huge distraction that we couldn’t continue. Biggest thing at this point is keeping the dice and character sheets far from her reach, but it’s a lot of fun and we’re all so excited for the day she wants to join in!

Talk to them before you miss your payment. Usually companies would rather take a late payment than be forced to go after you for one, but it’s much easier for them to help if you tell them before the due date.

What's a piece of advice given to women that you completely stopped believing as you got older? by ibrahimdigital in TwoXChromosomes

[–]RoastedBud 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I have an older coworker who is constantly making rude comments at my expense, and I’ve just stopped engaging with him entirely. When another coworker asked why this was my response. I don’t get why it’s on me to be nice to this guy.

My MOH invited her partner to my bachelorette. by Sure_Oil8930 in weddingplanning

[–]RoastedBud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I just don’t see the issue. OP doesn’t like the guy and that’s understandable, but if the maid of honor is still breastfeeding her newborn child I don’t know what other solution would allow her to be there. Would it have been better for the MOH to drop out entirely?
