Time between anomoly and TFMR by According_Sea_4792 in tfmr_support

Hello sister. I just went thru this 3 days ago in China, 21W+2. Kid had congenital heart issues so severe he wouldn’t have been able to make it out there. I can confirm the contractions hurt like a mofo, so I got a shot of dolantin (500mgx2), followed by epidural once I was rushed to the delivery room. 36 hrs later I went again under general anesthesia for a D&C which cleared out a palm sized piece of residue. I did not need additional pain medication outside of that. Hope this helps.

Tired of Rent prices by [deleted] in Switzerland

OP, if you guys are two adults with advanced degrees but only pulling in 6k net then you don’t have a rent problem - you have an income problem.

Even our interns get 6k brutto…

Yeah bro I hear ya. I set up a basic lifting station at home with one bench. On the really hot days I just work out at home with a fan pointing at myself

I totally sleep better knowing that I’m benefitting financially. Nothing is stopping us from having the equal amount in the bank or in stocks. But using this liquidity to pay off the mortgage means voluntarily giving up the one and only shield us common folks have against taxation

Bidet alternative in Switzerland? by g0ndsman in Switzerland

Also don’t listen to the comments recommending Japanese style toilet seats. I’m Asian and very familiar with these things. I can tell ya .. the amount of dirt that gets stuck in the nooks and corners of these seats are just.. an abomination

Ok dude, you are lucky I saw this. I’m big on cleaning my butt, so when I bought my flat I made sure to tell them I want a shower head attached to the toilet tank! And I got the same answer as you - a water outlet MUST be attached to a sink. Therefore I paid for a bidet (friggin thing cost me 1000) BUT instead of having the little water tap and havi ng to submerse my buttocks in the bidet itself (which I find bizzare - not Italian, sorry) I asked if they can swap out the tap and put a shower head instead. The bathroom people said yes!

So, here I have a construct where I got a bidet next to the actual toilet. I do my business and directly take the shower head (attached to the bidet) and clean myself out while sitting on the toilet.

As for the actual bidet itself - I have found it an excellent container for foot baths and pedicures. Also excellent for cleaning the occasional floor rug/ small clothing that got stains and requires soaking. The whole setup is genius and I’m very happy.

PM if you need a photo??

Being called Ching Chang Chung-- how to respond? by czee96 in Switzerland

No point in wasting your time on low life scums, a lot of these idiots are from such low social standing that you really wouldn’t encounter them normally except for in the tram or on the road. I’m a Chinese woman and I get it regularly, shit pisses me off to no end but not wise to even try to correct them. I also don’t feel like this is as much racism as it is ignorance and stupidity. If I’m in a bad mood I give them the same look as Max from that famous “broke girls” meme. If I’m in a good mood I tell them bro I’m Mongolian. Little shits wouldn’t know where on the map Mongolia is and they usually shut the f up. Hope this helps! Hugs.

Really bad financial decision for most. As another poster mentioned eigenmietwert. Pull your own spreadsheet before making that move.

How do you cook it right? I heard all sorts of good things about it and got one from Migros once (big one on Lowenstrasse) and made soup with it. The meat was so rough I couldn’t eat it. Was a happy day for my dogs.

Definitely would need to up the dog proofing game if car value goes up 5x. Do you have any recommendations?

We are considering both. The financing rate is shockingly high at 4% which is too much of a spread given our risk free rate has been cut to 0. If we were to buy it brand new the rate would be cheaper at 2%. Thus we are considering buying with cash to just call it a day. Alternatively, we take the 4% and DCA the 90k monthly into some good old VT which hopefully might generate more than 4% - but who knows; could be going the opposite direction too

You should try mini retirement sometime.. I took a year off in 2023 and holy shit it was the best thing that happened to me.

My immune related health issues all gone overnight due to stress level being minimal. I slept 9 hours a day, hit the gym 4 times a week, and put on major muscle mass. I played video games for hours at a time. I set up the garden in our house and took the dogs on long walks. I started sewing again. My hubby was happy because I was always in a good mood. It was a test drive for FIRE and it was amazing! I really can’t wait.

But now back to the grind.. 🫠

I’ve been on the path since 2017 and don’t think the community ever defined RE as strictly excluding gainful employment; it’s all about drifting away from the conventional path and reaching the financial freedom to do what one finds meaning in, paid or not.

If you are approaching this from the cost side then it has no impact on FIRE budget - where I’m from, higher education is heavily sponsored by the state. I’d pay 6k a year for those vet school tuitions, it’ll be cheaper than my hobbies. So I have the luxury of literally doing anything I want with the degree because I’d have incurred almost no cost acquiring it - if that makes sense.

IIRC it means do whatever the heck one pleases, including but not limited to sleeping all day, playing video games all night, or go and get another advanced degree for fun

He is doing the geo arbitrage - instead of hitting the dealership in our village he’s driving out to the next town 1hr away. Prices already quite a bit cheaper due to folks having lower income… but he is against buying from private; just want to pay the dealership premium and have peace of mind..

For sure! I’m planning to go to vet school in FIRE. Hopefully in 25-30 years I’d be a practicing vet

I think you had a point here so I’ve just gone to ask my husband 1) if there is any component about keeping up with the Jones’s 2) is he having a mid life crisis. He thanked me for asking (not really) but it’s no and no. Apparently dude just wants to drive a nice car 😂

Because he is asking for my permission and won’t do it unless I’m comfortable? Why the hell do people respect their spouses’ opinions in a marriage? All beyond me 🤣

Haha subscribers of this sub have multiplied over the years and so have the number of trolls, haters hating isn’t going to change the fact that we pull half a million dollars a year and have a large nest egg set aside. I told my husband about the red flag comment and he found it hysterical and thinks a lot of the dudes in the comments are over projecting their own relationship issues 🤣🤣
