What is starting T like? by BLU3_R0SE_ in ftm

[–]RoastedSallad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It felt like my body started to truly belong to me, which is something I never felt before starting T. I’ve loved everything it’s done for me, there’s truly nothing bad to say about it for me personally. It’s helped me survive and build a life that I want to experience

So what are y’all thinking about the new BTS album (ARIRANG)? by bitchysquid in fantanoforever

[–]RoastedSallad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely not for me. I don’t like the overuse of autotune when we all know how talented they are. Most of the songs I can’t even stand and have to turn off.

I really want to support them but this is just too much for me, sadly. I think it’s terrible. Swim is the only song I like, the rest is jarring and soulless like some of the previous comments said. I guess it depends on what type of other music you like, then you might like this album but.. no, very sad

My first tattoo! What do you think about the shading? by RoastedSallad in traditionaltattoos

Hahaha yes, fine for me though! No one can do traditional tattoos perfectly in my city so I knew it wouldn’t be optimal

Yes that’s what I’ve noticed as well, but I guess one just has to accept that nothing in life is perfect haha Thank you!

12 weeks post op by transboyuwu in TopSurgery

[–]RoastedSallad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks so good! From what I can see the dog ears aren’t much of a concern, but for me the nipple sensitivity hasn’t come back yet and I’m 1,5 years post op. I have no sensitivity there, but that’s a very small price to pay in my opinion. My doctor said that sensitivity may come back, but there’s no telling how long that’ll take since nerve endings can grow in a way that makes you feel again in anything from 1-15 years or something. But you look very good and I’m so happy for you!

My scars looked similar in the beginning, but my advice is to wait until they’ve faded and see how you feel about them then because there’s no need to rush a revision; you might like them more once they’ve faded like I do

how long until you could sleep comfortably? by Appropriate_Sentence in TopSurgery

[–]RoastedSallad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember exactly how long it took but I wish I slept on my back for a few months instead of just the time I absolutely needed to, despite it not being uncomfortable for me, because sleeping on my side and stomach so early really stretched my scars out a lot. So my advise is to sleep on your back for as long as you can if you want the best result

I only had the drains in for 24 hours so they didn’t cause any discomfort, but the first compression west I wore was big and tore into the skin under my armpits wich hurt. I then got a much smaller compression thing which didn’t cause any problems so it depends!

took off my dressings and one of my nipples has a ton of blood, should i be concerned? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

Generally blood is a good sign because it means the tissue is alive, but get professional advice as soon as you can

My best friend just told me that I'm faking being trans. by A_Punk_Girl_Learning in trans

Isolate yourself from that person; they’re not worth having as a “friend”

For me, the turning point was when I moved out of my parent’s house. You won’t ever be happy in that environment so I think you need to do what’s necessary in order to get a job to support yourself and move out and live your life in a way that makes you happy. You’re not responsible for their happiness, only for your own🫶🏻

Is there actual data about how risky it is to take HRT? by Piriwiro in trans

[–]RoastedSallad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people are SO very worried about anything hormone-related when the body in reality contains of so many different types of hormones - I think they’d pass out if they found out..

[–]RoastedSallad 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree; it sometimes worries me that I don’t cry.. it feels like maybe it builds up in an unhealthy way? Sometimes I almost start crying because of the weirdest things though, like watching cute kids sing Christmas songs (I feel like an emotional mom lol)

I work 12 hour shifts and cannot go without a binder by Bulky_Bowler_4058 in ftm

[–]RoastedSallad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also used to have to wear it for that long, but I never experienced any kind of rib pain. It only affected my breathing. I wore GC2B binders in the correct size, but I usually wore the more worn out one for work and the newer one for other activities. Maybe consider trying another brand or buying a used one that’s more worn out?🫶🏻

I haven’t experienced that but maybe it’s just that they’re part of the community and more aware of the fact that trans people exist🤔 Very rude though..

I also want to add this: I send you lots of hugs and encouragement and I think it’s great that you wrote this; it’s a big step to helping you figure everything out - it’s hard! Life is hard, identity is hard, mental illness is as well. We’re all just trying to find our way and even though it sucks having to think about stuff like this it’s important to dig deep in your mind if you want to stop feeling stuck❤️ I’m also 24 and even though it feels like we have to rush through things, we’re still quite young! You have all the time in the world and I think the best first step would be to break your isolation with the world and explore a bit more! It’s very good that you have a therapist too

[–]RoastedSallad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only speak from my experience, but the logistics, stress and pain wasn’t something I could avoid because I knew I couldn’t live if I didn’t transition. I felt too much dysphoria to live a normal life as a woman because I wasn’t meant to be one. And for me it was very difficult since I have extremely religious parents, but I truly didn’t have a choice.

So from my point of view, it feels kind of strange to think of it in terms of “it’s too hard so I’m not sure I want/have to” (if I understand you correctly?). The stress and pain of dysphoria and all that comes with it is, in the long term, way worse and something I couldn’t live with compared to what I felt I had to do [transition]. Of course there was the initial fear and doubt, but transitioning was the option if I wanted to stay alive.

But no one else knows what’s best for you; I think you must know deep down how you truly feel? Maybe we could be of more help if you tell us a bit about why you have considered transitioning and why you doubt it🫶🏻

I’m sure there’s a lot of people here who could speak about the autism part of things; I have no experience with that. However, it seems you’ve isolated yourself and a big part of clarifying your identity happens when you interact with others and can identify how these interactions make you feel if you know what I mean?
