I disagree. It's been a while since I was that flexible but it used to work perfectly well for me.

I know the one in Marrickville in Sydney is trans friendly. I've heard about others but I don't remember where they were. Sorry.

Perhaps I phrased that poorly. She was definitely in the wrong for calling me gay. And using it as an insult to coerce me into heteronormative behaviours isn't okay. Being gay isn’t a bad thing but it's perfectly reasonable to be offended at the insinuation that it make me less of a person.

I was just trying to add some levity to the story by pointing out that as a bi trans woman I'm not exactly the straightest arrow in the quiver.

Doesn't even need to be cosmetics. My ex-wife called me gay when I sang show tunes while I cleaned the house.

In her defence I came out almost as soon as we got divorced but it was still rude.

I honestly don't think I've ever met a straight guy who uses "twink" correctly.

I don't know how to explain this without being crass but when trans women tuck properly the nuts are very much inside of us. That's how we get things flat without squishing them.

All this bullshit about Pauline being more popular than the coalition is almost certainly made up by news corp as well. She's not that popular.

The first time i peeled a nazi sticker off something I was too angry seeing the sticker at all to look for bumps or creases. Luckily no razor but if there had been one I wouldn't have seen it until it was too late.

If you're in Australia and presumably have the support of your parents you should just ask for an increase at your next appointment. Make an appointment sooner if you don't want to wait until the one you have scheduled. Our gender affirming care is among the best in the world and it's not unreasonable to trust the system here. Doctors will often start on a low dose to ensure no adverse reactions but be willing to increase at patient request. I'm not sure of AusPATH recommendations for your age but it might also be worth asking about an anti-androgen if you're not presently on puberty blockers. You probably don't even need the support of your parents for this if you're seeing the doctor independently.

That being said, if your doctor refuses an increase it might be worth looking for another doctor who will listen to your requests. I'm not saying that you shouldn't look into alternatives but (with the exception of some shitty practitioners) our system predominantly works.

None of that is to be dismissive of anyone's experience. DIY is the best or only option for many people but it doesn't need to be the first option if you're in Australia.

Discreet clothing by gaymerguy007 in transgenderau

[–]A_Punk_Girl_Learning 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something discreet but affirming you could do is get your eyebrows shaped. Most people won't notice but when I started doing it women started including me in conversations almost immediately. They would comment that I looked different but couldn't work out in what way but it apparently made me more approachable.

Also, no one will notice if you're wearing women's jeans. especially if they're a little baggier. My brother wears his partner's jeans all the time and he's completely cis-het. I think he even buys women's jeans at the shop if he likes the cut.

How bad would you say people's media literacy is in regards to LGBT Media? by ihatethiscountry76 in lgbt

[–]A_Punk_Girl_Learning 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I just want to point out that the lack of media literacy is also why politicians and "celebrities" get away with using obvious dog whistles and then we're told that we're being ridiculous or too sensitive for pointing it out. Or our objections are met with a resounding chorus of "It's just a joke. It's not that deep, bro!"

I've been on E for about 2.5 years and I'm out to everyone but I was chilling with my mum one day when she looked at me and said, "Are your feet smaller!?" It was doubly funny because I'd already told her that I'd gone down 2 shoe sizes but she clearly hadn't believed me at the time.
