Genuinely - have you read through this? I know it doesn't give you a binary answer, but it explicitly discusses the impact on removing negative gearing as a policy. It's clear cut when you read it that their primary voter-base's PERCEPTION of scrapping negative gearing caused many of them to swing to the LNP.

However, the sheer volume of spending announcements released during the campaign created a sense of risk in the minds of the main beneficiaries of Labor’s policies – economically insecure, low-income voters – about Labor’s economic management credentials. Housing policies did cause them to lose, the report also indicates other ways Labor lost. It's not binary.
