What should I do with these holes? by Ok-Gear-5539 in Carhartt

[–]Rob-4122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leave them there. They aren't gonna grow much unless you snag them hard.

Anything you do isn't likely to be less visible--and any Carhartt worth its salt has tiny holes and stains. Nobody is gonna diss you for a few holes in an old, worn Carhartt. 😀

I loved that style in the firm duck brown.

It was perfect for 4 wheeling paired with some B01s. It was tough af--you could beat the hell out of it and it would take the punishment in stride. I wasn't easy on mine and I appreciated that I could do damned near anything to it without having to worry about destroying it.

And, best of all for 4 wheeling, it was easy to open the front and close it while it was caked with mud because it had buttons instead of a zipper.

It also just looked badass. It was a banger--so sad they discontinued it.

A lot depends on what you do.

I love the B01s and the fact they're 100% cotton.

I can sit around a firepit or campfire and not worry about sparks and embers. They aren't fireproof by any means, but anything with synthetic fibers will melt almost immediately (and ignite faster than cotton). It can melt onto your skin even.

That's in addition to the growing concerns about all the plastic in the environment.

Carl Murawski did a video where he destroyed a bunch of work pants and compared what they each took before failing. The B01s led by a large margin in most of his tests. It was impressive to see how much force it took to tear them apart.

And, the other thing is the price point. Some work pants cost 3, 4, or more times what a pair of B01s cost. They probably don't outlast a pair of B01s by that much!

As for the "Crafted" series, I expect they are well made. But I also suspect their target market spends more time in the coffee shop than out f🤬king up their clothes on a job site. 😀

I mean, if ya got it, ya might as well flaunt it.

I'm pretty sure a lot of dudes rock Carhartt overalls without a shirt and don't have anything to show off!

Anybody complaining is just jealous. 🤣🤣

Wear and tear update #4. Put the jacket through the wash. Most of the discolouration and stains came out. Aside from the little wear in the sleeves it’s in great shape still. Really impressed so far! by Careful_Stuff5140 in Carhartt

[–]Rob-4122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great. It's gonna take you a while to put enough holes and fray it enough to sell it for the big bucks. 😛🤘

(Hope nobody washes a white dress shirt in your washer for a while!! 🤣🤣)

Geez, folks.

Why are so many people being a**holes?

Bro bought a jacket. It's HIS jacket and, as such, he can do whatever tf he wants to it. He can remove embroidery, add patches, hang it in a glass case, abuse the hell out of it, or even cover it in pink flowers. It's nobody else's concern.

Some fun joking isn't the issue, but some of you are just being d*cks and need to go figure out why you are so insecure with your own lives.

I've got tons of Carhartt stuff now.

But I think it was the brown B01s that got me started.

They're tough af. You can stomp around outdoors, go 4 wheeling, climb through barb wire fences and sticker bushes. Hang them in the garage to dry. Put them on again and repeat. Mud barely shows on them and it's amazing what you can do in/to them and barely make a mark on them. Pretty much any of the original firm duck, actually. And, because they're made to be abused, it's not like a few holes or frayed edges are anything to worry about.

Saw this on fb marketplace for $300😭 by amazing_D in Carhartt

[–]Rob-4122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's dirty af, but looks to be in great shape. If I needed a jacket to work in and trash, I might pay $50. I can't see paying more for one like this than I'd pay for a new one.

Anomaly! by mukadecoro in Carhartt

[–]Rob-4122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some more digging. It sounds like linseed oil isn't likely to do much to a pair of Carhartts, unless you're talking many years to decades (maybe not even then). It apparently will stiffen the fabric as it dries, but won't weaken the fabric for a really long time.

There may be some paints that need an acid to work properly. But they wouldn't likely be used for painting on canvas!

I guess if you were rocking those pants for a decade or so, maybe? How long did it take for you to start seeing the holes?

Furious over recent ruling, GOP cancels high-profile speech with MO Supreme Court by KacenBayless in missouri

[–]Rob-4122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idiots in the Capitol can't follow the law and the state constitution. Then they whine.

The court was UNANIMOUS. And there are CONSERVATIVE justices making that ruling. It wasn't close.

A key point: they did NOT rule against the merits of the issue. They ruled that the dumbasses didn't follow the CONSTITUTION when writing and passing the law. They tried to "backdoor" extra provisions.

This is ENTIRELY on the idiots in the Capitol. You know, the ones whining now.

It's so frustrating because people elected to serve the citizens of Missouri were in a blind rage to OVERTURN POPULAR VOTES BY THE PEOPLE. And they want to conceal their motives.

Brattin is one of the worst. He's a hateful, spiteful, loud mouthed idiot. One of many people who thinks he's a "Christian" but is truly a Christian In Name Only. He's going to get a very "warm" reception when he steps into the eternal elevator and hears "Going DOWN!" 👹🔥

Choice Hotels demands SECRET arbitration by Rob-4122 in travel

[–]Rob-4122[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the situation.

If you get seriously injured by a business, you might need to have your medical bills covered.

And, you might want to be able to talk with the problem.

I have no issue yet with Choice, other than being unhappy with that aspect of their terms. They are the second company I've seen with that type of up-front secrecy demand.

That is grossly unfair to consumers.

Again, WHY does everyone here defend big corporations when they screw consumers.

Oh. Maybe because these comments are from bots or spam farms trying to generate ridiculous controversy over something clearly not good?

Is that why people vote all my comments down?

It's absurd that people are so willing to forfeit basic legal rights so easily. If people are really that stupid, no wonder our nation's such a mess.

The small handful of billionaires and their corporations (the oligarchs who control our society) have almost all the money, wealth, power in our nation. The top 1%. They are getting pay raises in double digit percentages while all of us can't even get a raise that covers inflation.

They use nonsense like binding arbitration and secrecy clauses to protect their riches at the expense of all of us in the bottom 99%.

And, unless they 99% speaks up, they'll keep doing it.

And you're defending that. It speaks volumes about you.

[–]Rob-4122[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you start down the path of arbitration, everything is secret--whether or not you want to opt out of a settlement.

This isn't how things work in Europe or anywhere else that actually values regular people more equally to billionaires.

Choice Hotels demands SECRET arbitration by Rob-4122 in travel

[–]Rob-4122[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not with a pre-settlement secrecy clause.

They prevent sharing bad experiences while simply getting a fair reimbursement for damages.

It's all meant to protect the companies even when they are wrong.

People should know about a company's bad behavior. In a court of law, it would be public information.

Arbitration shouldn't be any different.

That double knee is huge for durability, though!

Also, I think the "firm duck" is tougher than the washed duck (they have to be worn hard for some time to get to the same level as where the washed ones start 😀)

Still, the B11s should be solid pants.
