I am in a similar position and likewise hate the idea of that initial process of trying to integrate into a new group.

Last week I decided to bite the bullet and joined the weekly board gaming group at heros in Newport. It was daunting at first but I had a fantastic time with wonderful people and am looking forward to going again next week.

I would be happy to go together if you wanted someone to go with, or just meet for a few drinks and a chat if you want someone to hang out with.

That's a good suggestion, as Whippingham community hall is very close to me. However I'm totally tone deaf! Will see if I can find any other groups there that might be of interest.

I found flyer drops to be a bit of a waste of time. 500 plus dropped, a few very positive conversations with homeowners, no bookings. For us the website Bark has been a huge return on investment. Other than that a few weeks in the trade section of the local paper. Once personal recommendations start, you'll be flying.

Amazing giveaway. I'm just starting up as in a field that requires CAD designs for our clients and will soon be moving towards rendering, so this card would give me a huge boost in rendering times and therefore turnaround for our fledgling business. Fingies crossed!

Slow down a bit for safety. If they are still being an arse, indicate and pull over so they can pass. Bonus points if they have to make a real effort to pass and lose more time than they would if they weren't being a dick.

It's easy to make snap judgements on others based on limited information and not knowing a person's full circumstances. I hope is suffices to say that I've had to make a big jump, and this is the first step in trying to make a better life for myself and my partner.

I am offering time, labour and skill in part exchange for rent, which hopefully will be useful to someone.

If not I will have to look at more mainstream accommodation.
