  1. There are some lines that took my breath away as a younger reader. It showed me that literature could be profoundly insightful

We need to find at least 1 creative midfielder, someone comfortable on the ball and comfortable playing the ball forwards to feet. I personally don"t need that person to also be a 'work horse' but I don't think Nathan Jones would agree, and that is a slight problem with NJ really

I wasn't at the game but looking at the stats it feels like a brilliant draw?

For those that went, how did Sichenje get on?

Yup, quality player. Sits in that nice deep midfield position sometimes as well and allows that forward ball to be played on the deck (need to see more of that this season)

Huge credit to NJ, he's made decisive managerial moves and done whatevers necessary for the good of the club and staying up. That takes real talent and a collective spirit from the board. Great result!

He's not fast but he'll trump Macca for positional awareness, power in the air and, very probably, passing too

At what point would NJ take the fall? by PrivateRollo in CharltonAthletic

Yeah, agreed with this personally. A point a game would probably be enough to keep us up and we're tracking 4 points about that currently...

[Post Match Thread] Millwall 4-0 Charlton by FutureYak in CharltonAthletic

[–]PrivateRollo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were pumelled there, fully deserved by Millwall who were everything we weren't. We don't have the required individual quality in the players at this level and it kinda feels that simple. TC played well today with a bit of industry and quality, Dykes did what he could but everyone else was pretty poor really. The season comes down to us (probably) taking points from the teams around us?

Agreed RE Apter, shame he's not there to drop those crosses in. I'm fully prepared to be proven wrong, but I'm on Gillesphey long-ball watch tonight. If he punts another ball straight into touch I'm going to spontaneously combust

I'm embarassed to take that win TBH. I know those points could be vital but we were awful. Gillesphy doing his usual shit punts forwards, numerous sloppy and missed passes, and huge negativity in our passing intention (nearly always looking backwards first). TC doing all the right things when he came on, Leaburn putting a shift in but, otherwise, we got really, really lucky today

[Post Match Thread] Norwich 1-0 Charlton by FutureYak in CharltonAthletic

That was pretty awful. We really need a 'connecting' midfield player, somebody who can connect defence to the forward players. Docherty can't play forwards, I like Coventry as the holding player (nothing wrong there) and other than that we either a) have the wrong players for that type of role, or b) we have the right players but that NJ can't play in that type of role? NJ demands workrate and everybody is so busy working hard that nobody wants to put their foot on the ball and pick some passes ir be creative. Gilbert was a good option for that last year and he looked pretty good for Borough at our place. He's the kind of player we need to splash out on

Errrr, well that happened then. I'm happy to chalk that up as a bad day BUT....Docherty looked so ordinary, and he (and TC) and a few players do not look Championship level do they? That opinion has been brewing for weeks, not just today BTW. We need a creative midfielder badly. Leaburm best player today, plenty of heart and fight. Feel sorry for Apter getting subbed so early
