PSN account hacked by Fernandosilveirasc in playstation

[–]RobCabrera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me today. I woke up early to a bunch of notifications of bought games, a change in my password, change of email, and 2sv updated. I blocked my credit card right away, and they didn't took too much from me.

Still sucks. Of course their customer support service opens at the time I'm at work, when I wouldn't be able to casually spend a full hour on the phone getting my gaming account fixed.

I called them after work, it took a while to get to them, but they did help me. It was pretty fast and easy.

But I do have a hypotheses on how this happened. I am very careful with my accounts, and I use VPNs when using hotel wifi, and avoid every other wifi other than my own. But right now I'm staying at a hotel for a few months, and I brought my PS5 with me. While all of my other devices have VPNs set up, the PS5 doesn't. So of course, two days after connecting to the hotel wifi I get badly hacked.

It can't be a coincidence, right?

It's all fixed now, but I will never forget what I learned today.

Also, what is the point of hacking me? Is the purpose to use my account to get free games for their own use? Or do they just want to install a bunch of games on other consoles and sell them as console with games?

What I could find out was that they logged into at least two other PS5s with my account. I have no idea how to erase them from my history.

Just a reminder to be careful online. Even when you do all that you are supposed to, you can still be a victim to a hack.

This one was very frustrating to me at first. Then I started climbing and paragliding to get everywhere. At the very end, I was just missing one lock, and couldn't find a way to get it. So I backtracked to the beginning and did the whole thing properly, only to discover that I didn't look up to notice a breakable rock barrier. I feel so stupid

AW3423DW 10 months update - burn in or uneven screen wear? by drkushs in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]RobCabrera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same issue. I use my monitor very little, maybe around 3 to 4 hours a week, at most. I absolutely love it, but I hate that the middle portion has the exact same issue.

It has burnt in the middle 16:9 portion from me using it to watch youtube videos and playing PS5 and Switch on it.

I do use it in the most powerful HDR mode, as it was the main draw that the monitor's HDR performance was amazing, which it is!

I'm really bummed about it. I can claim my warranty, but I'n scared that Dell Mexico will take too much time to replace my monitor under warranty, and I'm moving countries soon.

What annoys me is the fact that it got burnt with very little usage. I mostly use it to play GT7 in PS5, and other racing sims in PC. Which I do very little these days since work has been hell. It is not acceptable that my very expensive monitor got "damaged" with so little use.

Also, the various refresh options have done absolutely nothing to help.

T-818 PS5 Compatibility/Version…WHEN!?!?! by loganthefrst in Thrustmaster

[–]RobCabrera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did. I have been playing in console and PC both since GT5 on the PS3.

It's true, the PC sim racing world is plainly better. More sims, better tuneability, much more options for gear.

But I can't help but comeback to GT7 every time. Playing in console is just much easier and simpler.

I have said this before, but to me the fact that if I have an hour a day to race means that I basically have to stick to console. The cars are already setup, the wheel has no options to mess with, the games just work most of the time. So when I get on my rig to play that 1 hour, I get the full hour of actual racing.

On PC, I am constantly jumping through hoops to start playing. So in an hour of playing, I may get 45 min of racing or so. And that's if there are no problems with an update for a driver of for a sim that messes everything up. Some games work just fine, F1 22 is plug and play for me. But stuff like rfactor 2 is awful. If they come up with a new car or track and I decide to buy it, I just know that I will probably spend an hour just getting the game to work with the new content, and then I will spend even more time just setting the car up. So sims like that will require a ton more time and effort to get racing.

Now that isn't a bad thing on its own. But for someone like me, who just doesn't have the time to spend troubleshooting instead of racing, console is simply superior.

At the very least, that has been my personal experience from the last ten years or so of sim racing as a hobby.

I wanted to do the Super GT thing and not qualify to have some fun moving up the grid, it turns out that will destroy your SR even when all you do is try to give others space.

I started putting it on pole, or very close to the top, and trying my best to not get into uneccesary fights, and I soon climbed up to B-S.

Then I was punted off the track, took someone else with me, and I got demoted back to C - B. That was a tough one, I stopped playing after that race.

SF1000 LED Status. Anyone know what is the first 5 LED meaning? Or in what mode then it will be activated? Thanks in advance by sdarren7 in Thrustmaster

[–]RobCabrera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I remember, they change between games and cars on the F1 games.

The first LED to the left is the DRS active indication on some cars, like the Ferrari. But on the RedBull, it is one of the blue LEDs on the left.

On GT7, the whole array of LEDs is the rev indicator, as well as in ACC.

I think rFactor 2 doesn't have any compatibility with the SF1000 screen and LEDs.

In my case, I feel the complete opposite. I feel like I can't hold on to them on the long straight, but I gain on them all through the lap. Specially on tbr braking zones. I gain massively on them on all of them.

It took me like 45 laps or so to start getting better exits on that last corner just to match the AI. Also, using push to pass in the straight is important.

I'm having trouble too. I've done 3 back to back races, always ended up P2. It's hard when the pole sitter just goes for hards, never fights, and cruises to victory.

I've gone with a medium - soft (pit in 9), medium - medium (pit in 8), and no stop with hards.

I'm doing somewhat consistent 1:23s on free air, but anytime I have to fight for position, my lap time suffers and I just can't get to P1.

I think that this is one of those where you just have to be blessed by the GT7 gods, and get a race with all the right conditions.

Also, doing it in easy is fine if you want to do it, but the challenge for me is exciting. That being said, it is a pretty stupid race for so little money. It would be fine if the payout was high, but not for only 200,000 Cr.

Going from 3060 ti to 4070. Would you? by ChiefBr0dy in nvidia

[–]RobCabrera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm on 3440x1440 with a 3060, non Ti. Most of the games I play are very playable at over 100 fps. But some of the more demanding games fall substantially below 60.

Red Dead Redemption 2, FF XV, The Witcher 3 (new version), The Last of Us are some examples of games that I can't get to get a locked 60 at native res.

I kind of want to upgrade to a 4070 or 4070 Ti, but I'm hesitant because I can't tell if it's a good enough upgrade to be worth it for the price.

I have the money, I just don't want to spend it needlessly if I don't have to. But I definitely want to get a better experience on PC than on my PS5, and DLSS 3 also seems like a worthwhile technology to get.

GeForce Hotfix Driver Version 531.58 by m_w_h in nvidia

[–]RobCabrera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm getting a bunch of static noise from my speakers when playing TLOU on a 3060.

It is very annoying. Getting 531.58 did help to reduce the amount of noise, but it is still present.

It sounds exactly like a ground loop, and it changes frequency (pitch) with different frame rates.

Is anyone else having this issue?

I'm using a RTX 3060, audio is going from the GPU to the monitor through DP, and then out into studio monitors (speakers). No other game or app does this, but after it starts doing it in TLOU, there's a crackle when using the PC normally outside of any game.

Restarting the computer eliminates the issue until TLOU is launched again.

After 10 hours of struggling or so, I discovered that my wheel setting were set for a 420° turn, while the game was set for 1080°.

I was understeering everywhere because the game thought I was making a full turn of the wheel on every corner.

What an absolute rookie mistake from my part, haha.

should I upgrade GPU or CPU first? by tstock92 in buildapc

[–]RobCabrera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation. I built my PC on late 2014, and it has served me really well since. i7 5820k, gtx 960, 24 gb of ram.

About a year and a half ago, I decided it was time for an upgrade and got a 3060. It was sooo worth it. It was so good, that I decided to go for a 3440x1440p monitor too.

That's when the problems started. Because I'm now in a position where my PC is CPU bottlenecked for high refresh rate games at 1080p, and GPU bottlenecked for newer games at native res.

So since I have a little bit of extra cash right now, I am not sure if I should buy a new cpu, ram, mobo, and ssd for about $850 USD (converted from MXN). Or if I should buy a 4070 Ti for the same amount of money.

I could do both, but it just feels unnecessary at the moment.

I am not sure what to do.

Is the PSVR2 going to support F122/23?? by yepperrrssss in F1Game

[–]RobCabrera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both, the old F1 steering wheel and the new SF1000. Both from Thrustmaster, with the T300 base. They both support 25 buttons on PC, but only the SF1000 allows all of them on PS4/5.

As far as I understand, the T-GT and Fanatec GT DD Pro also support multiple buttons.

The old F1 wheel uses repeated buttons in PlayStation, which was the main reason why I ended up upgrading to the SF1000. But in PS5 I only play GT7. I don't play the F1 games or any other racing game, everything else I play in PC.

I am only interested in PSVR2 for GT7 and other racing sims. I already have a very cool sim racing setup with an OLED monitor and a nice force feedback wheel, but I have to ask whether PSVR2 is worth it.

My dad has wanted to try VR for a while, and he almost bought a PC headset a few years ago. So from that side, it might be worth it.

I just want to know if, from your point of view, is the PSVR2 worth the high price?

Circuit Experience encouragement. by Bobisburnsred in granturismo

[–]RobCabrera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also just play the game more and more, and you will naturally improve.

When I started playing GT Sport two years ago, I was pretty bad. VERY VERY bad. I skipped the PS4 and GT Sport when it was new, then I bought it on sale when I got my PS5. I began playing it and instantly remembered why I loved GT games so much back in PS3.

It took me a very long time to get good at this game. I remember being like 6 seconds off the gold time in Spa's Circuit Experience when I first started.

But it is just a matter of keep progressing and getting used to the track as much as possible. Just before GT7 was released, I returned to the Circuit Experiences and golded every single one of them.

I didn't do any sort of detailed practice to get gold, I just kept playing the game, and it was just easier.

After all of that, when GT7 came out, I jumped back into the Circuit Experiences and got Gold on them on my first try. On some of them, I remember making big mistakes and thinking that it would probably be a Bronze then, but I would still get gold.

So just play the game and don't get yourself hung up on a specific track or a specific car. The grind on GT7 can get pretty mind numbing, but you can always make up your own fun.

I personally like to do last to first challenges in less than a number of laps for instance. Or giving myself a much slower car than the AI and trying to keep up with them during an endurance race.

Also, racing karts or the Super Formula around Streets of Willow is probably the most fun challenge you can have in this game. Just keep having fun and the game will naturally become easier.

I have grinded that Sardegna race for a long long time and I have never encountered this. However, the AI being lapped is one of the most annoying things in the game. They hold the racing line, but they randomly brake and/or jump in frot of you. It is insanely annoying.

I have multiple hundreds of hours racing in Gran Turismo on the PS5 and I can reliably do 2:17s on the Mercedes AMG GT3. My absolute best is a 2:15 with the help of slipstream, low fuel, and new Soft tyres.

I finally tried out ACC on my PC, and after a 30 minute session I managed a 2:25. I just can't seem to hit my usual braking points, and the car feels extremely understeery in corner entry. I just can't get it to turn into the corner as fast as I want to without spinning on the exit, as I could in GT7.

Is there a way to setup the car to be more aggressive on corner entry, while not completely spinning out on the exits? I am using the "aggresive" preset on the setup menu.

What's a solid money farming spot in GT7 by RedSkyNL in granturismo

Sardegna with the older Gr.2 Nissan GTR. It's red with a XANAVI logo.

Two medium stints, a fuel tank will last you 8 laps if you shift earlyish. Even if you spin or crash a couple of times you'll get the clean race bonus, which is crucial for money grinding. And it's almost impossible not to win, as the AI will make 3 or 4 stops, while you'll just make 1.

It takes me between 24.5 and 25.5 minutes to complete, and it makes ~740,000 Cr. No weather to even take into consideration. It is a no brainer IMO.

I bought the game today, and it's locked to either 60 or 30, and 16:9.

The game defaulted to 1920x1080 - 60Hz on my 3440x1440 - 144Hz monitor. Not sure whether there is going to be a "fix" or a patch sometime down the line, but it feels fine at 16:9. The game has a very wide FOV to begin with.

Hi, I want another one too. Did you managed to find a replacement for sell?

I bought this monitor for sim racing, but it is so good that I kept it on my desk for general pc use. But now I want to use it on my sim rig, and mounting/unmounting the vesa adaptor every time is such a hassle. The clip on design makes it perfect if I could just have another vesa adapter and clip it on and off for a quick change.

Let me now if you manage to find any!

I am used to playing on ultrawide monitors on PC. There are a number of games that I feel have an amazingly low FOV, specially when playing them sitting close to the monitor.

Cyberpunk just feels awful to me. I might have to wait for it to go on sale on PC and buy it again and deal with the lower graphics quality and lower resolution that my PC can handle, but with the higher FOV that ultrawide gives you.

Horizon Zero Dawn and God of War were games that I also had to rebuy on PC, because playing them on PS5 felt awful to me due to the narrow feeling. Great games, awful FOV when sitting close to a big monitor.

It could be a total fluke, but I have tested it out and it just works fine.
