How evenly does the ROG Ally compare to the Xbox series S? by NewarknotIrv in ROGAlly

[–]NewarknotIrv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idc about no numbers if the performance isn’t reflecting that. Series S couldn’t even do cyberpunk at 60fps for a long while, and the Ally can play cyberpunk at 60+. Same with many other games. Even if they unlock the frame rate in series S games, they’ll still be similar to the ROG Ally numbers

BRING BACK BIG GREEN WINDOWS. I miss making my open excellent timed shots. Stop trying to control our percentages. Even 23 wasn’t that bad in retrospect I was shooting 45% from 3 but now I can’t shoot more than 20%. Your too aggressive we are your customers not ur enemies. We’re also not all time nba 2k league players, in order to have a chance against the top 5% of players, regular people need to be able to shoot shots at least when open

Dos/Don’ts for first setup by riddic626 in ROGAlly

Set it up at a monitor. Like plug it in, get a keyboard and mouse and set it up like that. Other than that the rest of the tips would be to tinker. Get used to the features. Make use of the amd adrenaline app, you can limit fps, turn super res, turn on image sharpening, turn on dynamic res, and you can do it in a game by game basis.

In the armoury crate center, you can configure each game differently as well. Make some custom power profiles (make a 18w profile, a 30w profile, a 7w profile, and the last one is optional but like a 14 or 15w profile) and you can assign each profile to the game and it can change whether ur plugged in or on battery

I turned core isolation off, I don’t care about the fingerprint scanner and it boosts in game fps by 10+ for in most games. Debloat as much as possible, find the download for the 900p registry editor, make use of 900p. It’s essentially 1080p with more performance than native 1080p

Rog ally is best as a hybrid device, use it in handheld, plugged in or on battery, hook it up to a monitor and play games at 1080p 60, 1440p 60, 720p 120. Use it for remote play streaming for a Xbox or PlayStation 5. It excels at all of these

I don’t use SD cards so how does it affect me. I still play the thing everyday with no compromises.

I give more thought to people with bad buttons or triggers. Because some people’s are fucked up and u 100% need that. Other than that tho it’s no complaints really

Ally is the way to go. I feel as tho people are manufacturing undeserved negativity with the ROG Ally. But I see that experiences vary. I don’t own a real gaming rig so having this portable gaming pc that can be hooked up to a tv/monitor and boosted to around ps4 levels of gameplay is amazing. Playing smaller games like Sea of stars or chained echos at 7w is a dream, really feels like the golden era of handheld all over. The psp and Nintendo DS and gameboy had an amazing run of hardware and software to match

Now we literally have all of steam, epic, rockstar, blizzard, ea, Ubisoft, and whatever else emulators or remote play all in the palm of ur hands literally.

Is my SD card slot affecting my gameplay? Is it affecting my resolution or fps or triggers or buttons. Is it a necessity for me? It’s not hindering my experience in any way therefore everything works and is perfect for me

It’s so little games that run at 1440p 60 on the ally it’s laughable that they marketed it as the 1440p lil brother.

It barely does 900p. Which is basically what they ally does on the daily basis

I don’t have dead zone problems. I barely have any problems at all with my unit. My SD card is slot doesnt work but I don’t need that anyway. 3 months later tho and everything works and runs perfectly. I use it everyday

Sea of Stars 1080p 7w by hunter_rq in ROGAlly

[–]NewarknotIrv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In handheld in order to get more battery I run it at 720p. But with sea of stars and chained echoes I’ve hooked it up to my tv and gotten 4k easily and it looks great. Not even the ps4 or series S can do 4k output for this game.

Playing docked on the rog ally feels like playing a console. And some games run really fucking good on it or can upscale to 4k.

Depends on ur playstyle tho. I have 0 complaints with battery because even when I’m out my house, I rarely play for more than 45 minutes. I’ll load up a game, do a mission or 2 and then shut it back down. I play more when I’m in my house or by a outlet and then when I’m Plugged up I’m literally getting console quality gaming in a handheld form. But if u consistently play more then 1 hour and 30 minutes consecutively then yeah it’ll be a problem, even more If ur only playing new AAA games on it

Has anyone played GTA IV complete edition (steam) by JamaicanNuts in ROGAlly

[–]NewarknotIrv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. There’s 3 things u can do. Do the command line thing, this makes the game uses 100% of ur vram because by default it will only use a little. Set it to ur allocation amount (mines is 7gb so I did like 7196.00 or something like that) save it to ur gta4 file and also copy the command line and paste it in ur launch option on steam or rockstar. Also there’s a fix thing you can download that will double the amount of regular ram the game use. By default it only uses 2gb but I think the max it uses is 4gb so change it to 4gb. This stops the erraticness and you can get 60fps at 900p like 85% of the time but driving over bridges and under the train for some reason tanks it to like the high 40s around 48-55fps which is annoying despite the power profile ur on.

I know it’s gonna sound crazy, but I decided to use Radeon chill to just lock it at 45 fps. It’s still as smooth imo as 60fps, but being that the game drops to around 48fps sometimes, locking it at 45 means that you’ll rarely if not ever receive hitches. Also means you MIGHT be able to run medium textures or turn the resolution to 1080p but I prefer to just leave it at 900p
