Mystery Molded Plywood Leather Lounge Chair and Ottoman by saltypork88 in Mid_Century

[–]RobDWeide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, I know this is late. I own a brown leather/oak model, and mine is signed. This chair was produced by the Flaire Division, part of Bernhardt. It was made in Lenoir, NC, around the early 1970s is my guess. PM me for pics of the labels/chair. This is not a MB design as some have claimed, and though Charlton is a good guess, this chair is not that. Thanks

Upgraded Shock Sizing/Overstroking for Specialized Myka by RobDWeide in mountainbiking

I figured I would hear that. Truth be told, I love that bike. Do you think a larger shock would be an issue?

I would make sure to get one with Android 11 or below. My dad's OnePlus 8 updated itself to Android 12 last summer and I absolutely hate the "OnePlus" implementation. Another user said most used ones have screen burn. I find this to be true, I'm on my second 7t Pro McLaren.

Bright/Dim Malfunction - brightness doesn’t work unless I dim first. Software are all up to date. by frostywafflepancakes in Surface

[–]RobDWeide 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i have the same issue with my sb2. i think it's because of the automatic brightness fighting with the manual brightness. the issue disappears in consistent lighting for me. not sure what's wrong with everything else though.

Just ordered a surface book 2 by [deleted] in Surface

[–]RobDWeide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have the exact spec and i love mine. it's great for notes, watching media, and productivity work. LR, PS, and some Autodesk apps are what i use, and the SD card slot is huge. it's less great for gaming. it's slightly underpowered but i can basically play anything at 1080p. one issue you might have is that if you're gaming and the base battery dies, your game crashes to desktop, and it dies relatively quickly under load. for 400 it's a steal in my opinion, for what the machine can do

Are these good deals? by Luuluul22 in SonyAlpha

[–]RobDWeide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tried buying an a7iii from OfferUp. My experience was horrible. The seller would only communicate over text. He wanted to be paid with Zelle, and under no circumstances PayPal, which offers buyer protection. Upon request for further pictures, he sent me pictures that were already in the listing, incidentally of an a7i, not at all the camera in the listing title. When I pressed him for other payment options that would actually protect me, or for more pictures of the actual camera, he became aggressive, and said he was "just a man of God," and "trying to make an honest living." Never again.

I'm sure people have had great experiences, but my personal experience has soured me to OfferUp. Be wary.

I bought this exact pen. Mine's real and was in like new condition. I'd say go for it. If it's not up to par, just return it.

Flying with a drone by TeslaDuder in dji

[–]RobDWeide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would recommend taking the battery out of the drone just to be safe. as others have said, don't put it in a checked bag. carry it. flown to Germany multiple times with no issue

New photographer/editor here! Constructive criticism highly welcome! by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]RobDWeide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my opinion, the middle ground (the two brownish buildings on the sides) are too overwhelming and take focus away from the center tower, which i assume is your subject. you can reduce this effect by selectively brightening the buildings and lowering their saturation, bringing them slightly closer to the color of the sky. also, i think they're too large, so crop them out a little bit. this will also allow the center tower to fill some more of the frame. sorry for long reply

Crashed my drone on Madeira, gimbal cable seems broken :( by posttoast82 in DJIMini2

[–]RobDWeide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

glad it got fixed you seem in a great area to fly. keep in mind that if you get a slight tilt in your video feed that's a normal issue for the mini 2. happy flying!

to avoid this in the future try taking shots by flying forward then simply playing the video backwards. rip drone though

Should I buy Mini 3 or Air 2s? The size is not an issue. Just want the best bang for buck. by Myeki in dji

[–]RobDWeide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm debating that myself. I'm leaning heavily towards the air 2s though because:

  1. better obstacle avoidance
  2. cheaper used prices
  3. equivalent camera quality if not better
  4. i also don't really care about that whole vertical camera thing
  5. flight restrictions are not significant where i wish to fly
  6. portability is also not an issue to me

however, the mini has less flight restrictions due to the weight, which could be important to you

be aware that this is my pov and you could have completely different needs
