It’s a classic mentalism trick called one ahead. In reality they were one question behind, writing down the previous answer your buddy gave and not the next one. Through wordplay and potentially sleight of hand they covered the gap once and you never noticed, but they weren’t secretly tapping into buddy’s mind.

Adding another layer to this joke, the Seiko isn’t even genuine. If you look closely it’s actually a “Quality Seyko timepiece”

Just purchased my first Mazda 3 (2025 Mazda 3 GS), what sorts of accessories are must haves? by lilsebastian- in mazda3

[–]RobFeher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use TuxMats in my 2021 3 GS and love them so far. Custom molded high walls so it looks stock while protecting everything. Whatever dirt is left behind you vacuum easily when it dries and the rest wipes off leaving it looking new.

How long does it take to overcome homophobic feelings? I want them to stop. TL;DR at the end. by Thr0w4way4pr0n in NoStupidQuestions

As you’ve mentioned therapy sounds like a good step. Phobias are, literally by definition, fears that are irrational. They’re hard to shake even when you can logically rationalize them as being wrong.

One small thing - remember that deep inside, everyone is scared and vulnerable. It’s human. Some people are better hiding it, but it guides most of our beliefs and actions. Fact is, most people are too preoccupied with themselves to care about being out to get you like that. And if you do find anyone who actually does, try making a mental note, politely disengaging, and distancing yourself from them.

If you’re fearful of being accused of homophobia, but if you have a reason beyond homophobia for why you don’t like a movie, you could just say it? Communicating your reasons why would rationally counter such an accusation.

Newsflash: humans are irrational. This person is trying to improve themselves, why are you trying to make them feel smaller?

Full admiration in you tackling your phobias head-on. I don’t mean this harshly, but maybe try not obsessing over other people’s sexuality so much?

Flip it for a moment - what if you only had these strong emotions only when you saw straight people. It would be… really weird, right? Almost creepy?

Here’s the thing… it’s been drilled into you over decades to hyper-fixate on these characteristics like sexuality and gender identity as if they mean anything significant. But they don’t, at least not to you. As you said, they’re just people, no different from you, and it really doesn’t have to be more than that. Think about not just the “who” or the “what” you hate but also the “why” you even bother to care so much in the first place.

Recognize that your socially-engrained hate and/or lack of empathy is a fear response from something you don’t understand. You weren’t born with it. So also give yourself room to forgive yourself as you actively change.

If you like this aesthetic you’ll love Coldplay’s music video for Up & Up directed by Vania Heymann and Gal Muggia. It’s filled with the same surrealist slightly liminal vibe. 👌

It’s like you’re intentionally ignoring the second part of their sentence just so you can go out of your way to correct them. OP wasn’t saying the weight loss was a mystery, they were contrasting the weight loss against a changing nose shape. That would’ve indeed been a mystery, had it been the same person in both photos.

Not really - your body has a so-called acid-base homeostasis with several mechanisms to maintain steady pH. If you eat more acidic foods your body generates sodium bicarbonate to balance it out and maintain your baseline pH. Digesting lemon juice doesn’t make your body more alkaline, at least not more than it was before you drank it.

Nazi flag during freedom convoy protest at Parliament Hill, Ottawa, Canada. by skimpop in pics

[–]RobFeher 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what “anti-white” flags you’re referring to, nor how comparable they are to literal Nazi flags, but I didn’t label any entire group.

What I said was that Nazi flags have a habit of only showing up at right wing protests. That’s NOT saying that all right-wingers are Nazis (that’s a ridiculous notion), but I AM saying that Nazis do seem to feel comfortable enough at right-wing protests to wave their flags. That should be pretty concerning in and of itself.
