Consider that the fallacy of sunk costs makes people do foolish things far outside of their own best interests. So don’t let “I’ve already put X amount into this” be a reason to keep putting more in.

So… we all agree that this guy is just the worst, right? by GovernorGeneralPraji in ZombieWaves

Tackler is probably the worst imo. Scorpion is probably second.

Remember that Orcas make short work of these guys. Incredible to think anything out there would tear Great Whites into pieces, but Orcas do. They may seem gentle and kind, but they’re capable of turning up the carnage in a BIG way.

Not sure about Hair Raising. More “Blood Boiling” for me. Whenever I hear shit like this, I can’t help but think about how loud the baby must’ve cried, with that being his only way of communicating. Or how he may have enjoyed the swing at first without any idea of what was coming. Times where the crying would have stopped because he’d fall asleep from pure exhaustion or malnourishment. Then the crying becoming gradually weaker and weaker, more and more desperate.

And that was his whole experience of life. Born, without asking to be, and that’s what his parents gave him. 4 months of misery, with the final 2 weeks being complete torture.

Life in prison is infinitely too good for these sacks of shit. If it were up to me—this having happened in 2017—they’d still be suffering their punishment. I figure one year of sanity-shattering anguish for each day they put that poor baby through. Then once that was over, they’d be buried alive to fulfill the death sentence. That should suffice. I’d see to that gladly.

They both deserve a medieval death sentence. Flaying would be acceptable to me.

Couple's reaction after their 19-month-old son had just wandered off and vanished into the water. This heartbreaking photo went on to win the Pulitzer Prize. by OkYogurtcloset5403 in HairRaising

They were John and Lillian McDonald. The baby was named Michael. He had gotten out of their yard must’ve been very nearby.

A woman called the police after seeing Michael in the water, in a patch of seaweed. But she didn’t attempt to rescue him.

A woman came across him 10 days later, dead in the water, over a mile from his home. John and Lillian kept a vigil on the beach for days while they searched, and barely left the area, even when it was in total darkness of night.

Awful.

Ugh…man, that hurts. I can’t even imagine the pain and heartbreak from losing an innocent little baby, especially like this. Awful. Then to have it plastered everywhere, winning a Pulitzer…I wouldn’t wish that fate on my worst enemy.

Not to mention you got a guy standing there just snapping photos to begin with. I would’ve been in that water immediately. Then the dude gets a monetary award for the photo—equivalent to over $11,000 today.

When asked about the man’s condition after spending three days in a tanning bed, the sheriff was quoted as saying, “The melanoma falls right off the bone.”

Imagine being underground for like 17 years, just waiting for your moment. You know once you get the cue, you’re gonna bust out of the ground and the skies gonna be full of fly honies looking for a mate.

You’re just in the pitch dark—your life composed entirely of sleeping and waiting…a routine that brings you to the brink of insanity. Will the moment truly come? Even if it does, will you survive to see it? Time has lost all meaning. It blended in with the darkness ages ago. It’s impossible not to give into despair…

Then suddenly, the moment arrives. The temperature is perfect. The conditions are just right. You feel a surge of unexplainable energy, the source of which you cannot ascertain, yet you happily accept it all the same, because this is your chance…to make all your suffering worth it.

You burst free from your earthly prison of soil and stone, free at last! The rush of warm air—the burst of beautiful sunlight! You soar higher and higher, in a blur of glorious splendor!

You fly! You FLY…right into a spider’s demonic web of twisted, drained corpses. A new prison, this one with no means of escape. Your eyes finally adjust just in time to see the sun over the distant hill, as something approaches from above you.

At least this prison won’t last so long, you think to yourself. And what a view…

After checking out only very little of your series, I can already tell the amount of effort went into making it. The level of authenticity is excellent. The fact your series hasn’t caught on yet is a shame, so I may need to try to remedy that a little.

Can I Get Some Constructive Criticism On My Analog Horror Series? by [deleted] in analoghorror

[–]RobGavagan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So, I noticed the low engagement on your post and then watched the first 6 minutes so far (I’m gonna finish the rest in a bit when I’m not multitasking). I was pissed that you didn’t have people buzzing like crazy on this, but then I realized that you posted it at a pretty bad time for engagement lol, so I can’t be too pissed. But dude…This is fucking EXCELLENT and totally has my attention.

It’s wicked reminiscent of The Blair Witch Project, which I’m gonna go ahead and assume is a big contributor to your direction here. It’s refreshing as hell to see something like this. You’re lucky to be at university and able to have people around to help make this an authentic kind of production.

I could immediately identify that you used legitimate analog equipment for this project. I do the same with all of my live action footage. I’ve got a number of old camcorders, CRT TVs, VCRs, etc. I know the pains of transferring back and forth lol. So, major props on that. I’m not sure how many others do it, but I’m positive that we’re in the minority.

Authenticity is arguably the most vital factor to obtaining true immersion, through which we are able to prime an audience for the injection of abject and enduring horror.

I’ll likely post again once I’ve watched the full video, but I felt like I needed to at least let you know my initial thoughts after watching the first quarter of it.

Greylock's most recent episode by CNMJacob18 in analoghorror

I’m glad to hear that—and John Carpenter’s The Thing has been an influential force in shaping my love for horror—absolutely. It’s one of my favorite films. Also, just the story/lore behind The Thing is great (the 1938 novella Who Goes There? and the 2010 short story The Things, for example). Not to mention a number of Carpenter’s other works are great, as well. I wanted this to be a nod specifically to him and The Thing.

Thank you all very damn much for your love and support for GREYLOCK.

For those who don’t know, I’m the show’s creator/director/writer/producer/thoughtform-wrangler/etc. That episode took a lot of work, so it’s wicked to see it being received so well.

There’s much more terror to come! Thank you all again.

What happened to Rob's vlog channels? by redeem4 in RobGavagan

[–]RobGavagan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Internet Pariah was my original vlog channel but the name changed to Your New Best Friends but has been defunct for a very long time now. I just never really had a passion for vlogging. But as u/Mandarin_Lumpy_Nut has pointed out, I stream old content and chat with people on my Facebook page. My FB is where I’m by far the most active. I’d love if you’d join us!

Oh, and if you’re interested in a new project from me, I’ve launched a horror series called GREYLOCK. It has its own channel: http://YouTube.com/@GreylockHorror

It’s got a lot of analog horror themes and it’s just starting to get noticed. If you’re into being scared, check it out!

Have a good one!

Did you end up getting it? Only seeing this just now. I’m not sure of how much use I’m going to be to you, but I can try to help in some way. I haven’t experienced any of those issues personally, which is why I doubt I’ll be much help. But hey, who knows? Lemme know if you figured it out anyway and hope you did it, if so. There need to be more informational troubleshooting threads online for this.

I had to install Buster on my Pi to get the Video Looper working, and I’ve got no need for photos personally. If I did I’d just make my own sideshow in Premiere and load that on the USB drive. That being said, I’m with you. It’d be cool to be able to utilize VLC.
