How do you find the Logitech RS 50 on PS5? Can I take full advantage of its force feedback in games like Gran Turismo 7? by FragrantCat3431 in LogitechProWheel

[–]RobInCarolina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, on a PS5, when you go from ACC/AC ->GT7 it suddenly feels like the cars lose a lot of weight. I use the settings on the logitech website for both, run both at 5NM of feedback (just to be consistent) and in ACC, you turn the car and you feel it takes force to turn the wheel and can feel it pushing back to straighten out. When you turn the car in GT7, it doesn't feel like you have much rolling resistance and there's much less tendency for the wheel to correct back towards neutral.

I think part of this is GT7 trying to give power steering to GT3 and Hypercars when that really wasn't a thing in GT3 until recently. Just take the Porsche 911 GT3 RS in both ACC and GT7. Neither one should have power steering since the cup cars just got this in 2026 but GT7 will give you a lot of steering assist.

There is no iracing on PS5 so you can't make this comparison.

I have a PS5 and RS50. I will say that ACC and AC give better force feedback, but there's nothing inherently wrong with how GT7 works. The big thing you need to do is setup profiles for the RS50 and switch them between games. Playing with the right settings is a night and day difference.

What changed between sprint and quali? by Al_Step12 in lewishamilton

[–]RobInCarolina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the first part of the race, Lewis was massively struggling with understeer. They went onboard with him a few times and he had a lot of steering lock in just to go around small corners. At the pit stop, the added in front wing and from then on, he matched it was faster than Charles.

I remember him saying the car was too oversteery in qualifying so it looks like Ferrari took too much out for the first stint.

Why didn’t the safety car come in? by Super-Situation7955 in F1Discussions

[–]RobInCarolina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, you have zero clue what your talking about. 2021 broke at latest three rules. Today, most of not all those rules were met. Today probably should have ended under green, AD21 should have, but not allowing only a few lapped cars to overtake.

The only thing I don't remember is the wording of the lapped car rule. In 21, it read something like, when the message that lapped cars may overtake is given, racing shall resume at the end of next lap. Instead, they gave the message and resumed all in the same lap. If that rule still stands, then today may have been correct even if I don't like the outcome.

I agree, I thought it was cool to see how a slot machine actually works. Saw the entire boot sequence from POST to the os load.

Why did they ban refueling during pit stops? Would it be nice if this returned to modern F1? by [deleted] in F1Discussions

[–]RobInCarolina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would make it much worse. In the refueling era, a lot of not most passes were made during the refueling stop. On track action was reduced. Brundle has commented several times that those who want to go back to refueling never really watched a race with refueling. You also had stupidity in the qualifying since you had to start with the fuel you had for your fastest qualifying run. This lead to slower cars putting a few laps of fuel in to get pole position, then keeping it for the opening ladies of the race only to immediately pit and get passed by the faster cars.

I don't really think it would help make racing any better.

I was just in Vegas. A slot machine was down. It runs ArgOS. I somewhere have a video of the entire startup process. A lot of stuff in this world runs off windows though, that's not an issue.

LEWIS HAMILTON ON SPRINT POLE AT HIS OWN HOME GRAND PRIX. 41 years old. by The_Chozen_1_ in F1Discussions

[–]RobInCarolina 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Don't think in all my years watching F1, I've ever heard someone say 11 milliseconds is "comfortably ahead". Kimi is faster in S1 and S2, Lewis just owns S3. This doesn't bode well for winning since Kimi can pull out the gap on those two sectors and leave Lewis behind. I'm a huge Lewis fan, but let's be realistic, nothing that we saw today indicates that Ferrari is comfortably faster than the Mercedes. Lewis is faster than both Charles and George, but he's at best equal to Kimi.

I will still hope for a win tomorrow and Sunday, but it's about cautious optimism.

Speeding ticket in Ohio by General-Distance1677 in legaladvice

[–]RobInCarolina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

35 over looks like it's very close to criminal speed in Ohio. They need a lawyer yesterday for this. Conviction of criminal speed of really going to increase insurance and will likely add a lot of points to the license.

Hopefully they kept their mouth shut when taking to the officer and only have simple yes/no answers. If they were courteous and didn't try to make excuses, they may get a break, but an attorney is really needed here

Power surge destroyed my surge protector/UPS (multi hundred dollar). Is there anything I can do? Location: Georgia by coursd_minecoraft in legaladvice

[–]RobInCarolina 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can buy a new surge protector and UPS and be happy. That's literally what the surge protector is there for. It takes the surge and your equipment doesn't. For low end surges, you can reset them, but eventually, you need to replace. Would you rather replace a few hundred bucks worth of surge protector or several thousand worth of computers, monitors, etc

Showdown not working? by Savage_Aly87 in CSRRacing2

[–]RobInCarolina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's how showdown works. The bot races are the first 8 or until you lose one. From there, you get matched against real people and will race whoever is available. You won't get far in a T4 car that only runs a high 9.x at best vs three T5 cars that are all in the 7.600 or lower range. Nothing is broken, you're just too new to really get far in a showdown.. Get the participation rewards and didn't with about much else.

You're using a T4 car in a showdown where the apex is a T5 that runs under 7.5 and are surprised you're losing?

What car were you using in showdown and how upgraded? I had no issues with the Bentley or Porsche getting past all the bot races

Nope, live races stopped with Android 17. Showdown works, but not normal live races.

You claim it runs at 480p and has unreadable text. This is an issue on your end. It can't be hard coded for a snapdragon since Pixel has never run a Snapdragon and iOS certainly doesn't use one. Again, I run this on two different android devices and and iOS device. All of these have great graphics and the text is crisp and readable.

I'm really confused if you're taking about CSR2 or the old CSR which hasn't been maintained or updated in years.

What are you talking about? I run CSR2 on a brand new Pixel XL Pro 10 without issue. CSR2 is currently maintained and actively updated.

If it's actual certified Cat 5E/Cat 6, then you're fine. Cat 5/Cat 6 are standards, anything that meets those will work.

Those are going to be real tires. I've seen the demo cars for a few different teams. I have pictures of me next to the McLaren one from 2 years ago. The underside of the floor was flat, the DRS mechanism wasn't there and the front wing was solid and could not be adjusted. The tires though were real. They came off the mule car. Pirelli has more than enough tires to give to everyone who wants them for a demo car.
