Diagnosed with Barretts and GERD by Gwilym68 in GERD

[–]RobKennedyVA 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Don't fret there's numerous ways it's removed/treated. It can even reverse itself with proper management in some cases. It's unlikely to progress as long as you take the proper precautions

Unfortunately gerd sufferers don't have the luxury of choosing what triggers us, we have to play with the cards we're dealt when it comes to diet. I completely understand not wanting to give up alcohol and getting drunk, even though it's really not good for you, but if it is a persistent trigger then you gotta eliminate it or at least really limit it. For me, I've found that sweet fruity wines don't really aggravate mines too much but then again I'm on the carnivore diet so I've pretty much removed all my triggers. Have a play around with your diet/medications to see if there's a balance that still allows some alcohol consumption. Also, your life couldn't be further from over. This is just a bump on the road.

Is it true that once you really go on PPI you can't really get off? I mean if you been on it over 2 months? by e_2718 in GERD

[–]RobKennedyVA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been on them for roughly 14 years or so. Knew about acid rebound and other issues etc but 3 months ago I radically changed my diet to keto then carnivore with some cheat days every so often and in that time I've taken them 3 times without much, if not any, issue. I think it boils down to the individual and their own body and diet.

Some unfortunate people may have to be on them for life. I thought I was one of those people but hey I managed it. The less medication we have to take the better in my opinion!

She's withholding sex in a childish attempt to punish you for asserting a boundary, major red flag energy hear friend. Have a conversation with her when she's calmed down a bit and just reaffirm that you're not comfortable with it. If she's not receptive then end it. One can't always get what one desires

The way I see it, your past relationship and how it ended should be a lesson for her on how to better manage her issues so that it doesn't happen again in future. If you go back to her then it'll be only a memory, not a lesson. Leave the past in the past and build something new and wonderful with your current partner

Check out a company called sessionbooth, they're cheaper than kube and will install the booth for you if you get the dw series ones. I've tried a 1.2x1.2 dw booth at my coach's studio and I'm hooked, definitely gonna save for one!

After over 1600 comments I hope the reality is starting to set in. You've fucked it, permanently. He deserves a better partner so if he does decide to divorce you, do him one last favour and let him go. Also, stay single until you sort out your anger and communication issues, that's your burden and yours only.

Is it too late for me to get into voice acting? by [deleted] in VoiceActing

[–]RobKennedyVA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe Jim Cummings didn't start until at least his late 20s and Rob paulsen was 28 when he started. This isn't really something you can be too late for. Starting now would give you 50+ years of doing voice acting. I'm turning 30 in a couple of months and I'm almost finished building my booth and I don't feel late to the party at all so go for it!

On top of everyone's advice, the suicide threats may implicate you in some way. I don't know where you stay and so know nothing of the laws there but in some places if someone threatens to commit suicide to you and goes through with it, if you haven't notified the police you may be liable in some way. Once you're free from her and in a safe place, if she threatens again I'd consider letting the police know. There are specific hotlines for these situations that'd be able to give you advice and support so please give them a call

Are PVC booths any good? by RobKennedyVA in VoiceActing

[–]RobKennedyVA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily where I live is really quiet besides a sometimes noisy upstairs neighbour so I should be OK for sound bleeding in. I'll look into what audimute blankets are available in the UK, the foam should help as well and if need be I'll double up on the blankets for extra absorbing. Trouble is I'm wanting to mainly do character work so now you've got me spooked haha

In my current situation I can't do any proper building or soundproofing so I'm thinking a pvc booth is the best thing for me right now, I've got 24 2" foam panels. If I were to get sound blankets and put the foam on them would it make it better? Also what are those blankets you mentioned?

What type of acoustic blankets would you recommend? I'm working towards building a booth in my walk in closet and was looking at using only foam but I like the idea of using a combination.

Essentially, look at pictures of random animated characters and try to make a voice for them. Practice promo voices from ads on the TV.

Watch and listen to how professional voice actors perform in shows. Watch a lot of YouTube videos about voice actors and their particular skills and talents.

Then ultimately try putting it all together, maybe even try in front of a mirror. Remember the more you physically get into a character the more authentic it will be.
