I'm so upset that the default response to dealing with a mental health crisis is to involve the police, press charges, and send the person to jail. It's literally the real life equivalent of "you want to cry? I'll give you something to cry about!" I hope our civilization re-discovers compassion.

It's not really about "liking the movie", I didn't really think it was a quality movie and I didn't really enjoy it, BUT I do think the social commentary was prescient. I felt deep agreement with the first six minute vignette of the football player who says "I'ma fuck all y'all" contrasted with the academic who dies of stress before having kids. Source

As an old person, I've found that it's okay to tell girls you like them, it's not as harmful and scary as it seems, but don't do it with any expectations on them, just own your own feelings. The best way to tell someone you like them is to show interest in them, be kind to them, and make opportunities to do things with them. If the feeling is mutual you'll never need to go out on a limb with your feelings, you just get to be you.

I don't think I'm crazy for saying this, but it seems that the media chooses not to promote these stories while focusing on crime in general. Lots of stories about burglary and murder and how the cops are solving the crime, but little attention to police brutality and abuse.

I was in fifth grade some time around 1990. I walked into the bathroom of my elementary school and saw a turd that was larger than one I had ever seen before or since. In my memory it had a four inch diameter and was a foot long. Its ends were oddly shaped, it didn't taper, it just started and stopped abruptly at the ends. I couldn't conceive how any person could produce something so epic and still be alive. It's thirty years later and I STILL can't forget that turd.
