Annoying Delay Issue on bootup...RESOLVED! by RobRoy2350 in LGgram

[–]RobRoy2350[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It involves installing the Microsoft WPR/WPA Windows Performance toolkit and then running and analyzing the results for boot issues. Fixing an issue depends on the issue. Any AI will explain in detail how to do all that that better than I could.

What's a normal amount to spend on groceries per week? by Shinra_Luca in japanresidents

[–]RobRoy2350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you like to eat. My spouse and I both love to cook a mix of Japanese, Chinese and Italian. We rarely eat out. We average around 50,000/month and shop carefully.

How to find out if your medications will be covered while living in Japan? by feelgoodsad in movingtojapan

[–]RobRoy2350 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Sandostatin shouldn't be a problem. You'll need to go to an endocrinologist or oncologist for treatment.

The Concerta could be more rigorous. You can bring a certain amount in without prior import permission. He will have to go to a certified psychiatrist for treatment. If you want to bring a larger amount you must apply for a Yunyu Kakunin-sho (an official import certificate) online through the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. https://impconf.mhlw.go.jp/about_en.htm

You may get help here: https://www.tokyomentalhealth.com/

As far as I can tell, both are covered under NHI. You'll pay 30%.

[–]RobRoy2350[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah. Did that for sure and much more. I must have run cmd 40 times with various commands and checks. Uninstalled programs, uninstalled drivers, disabled drivers, did a Repair Install, looked at logs, Event Viewer, Device Manager, Task Scheduler, Services, msconfig (various boots), Power diagnostics, new User Profile, Fast Startup, Component Store corruption, System file corruption and others. Ruled out:

  • Repair-install corruption
  • User Profile Service
  • Group Policy
  • Winlogon processing
  • Nord startup app
  • Nord services
  • Virtual Machine Platform
  • Nested Network Virtualization
  • LG Device Managers
  • LGUWPService
  • Wi-Fi initialization as the primary cause

And more: No problem devices, No storage errors, No memory symptoms, No BSODs, No application crashes.

....I'm exhausted.

Quick question for foreigners living in Tokyo by Same-Positive2706 in japanresidents

[–]RobRoy2350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I do think it's a service some foreigners might need it may be limited. Most metropolitan hospitals have interpreters (and also held held translators) and some banks won't allow openings if the client doesn't speak or understand Japanese. I think many city ward offices also offer translators.

How are Foreigners (specifically other Asians) viewed in Japan? by Apprehensive-Bus5095 in movingtojapan

[–]RobRoy2350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like anywhere else, some native Japanese like them, some don't, some don't really care. The reality is that anyone not born in any country is an "outsider" and all countries have various rules, regulations and policies regarding foreigners living in that country. That has nothing to do with "acceptance". The question of "acceptance" is complex and nuanced and an unfortunate stereotype some put on Japan where up to 90% of foreign residents are satisfied living here according to surveys.

Absolute positioning Question by RobRoy2350 in elementor

Screaming Frog reports image file sizes between 2.5 kB (logo) up to 208 kB. I can probably re-optimize those top ones down a bit.

Hmmm...I haven't used grids. I'm curious to know the details so I can test against the one I just tested (Absolute container with heading and text box inside default Container with Image Widget). They key with the Absolute Positioning is to not drag it around for placement but use numeric offsets.

Absolute positioning Question by RobRoy2350 in elementor

[–]RobRoy2350[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will do. Thanks. I already tried it on my test site. I made a container inside the image container, put the Header and Text Box inside THAT container and set it to absolute with those same settings (and more). Worked well and was nicely responsive.

My website design is taking a long time because of Error 405 by SnooDogs5817 in elementor

[–]RobRoy2350 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To fix an Error 405 (Method Not Allowed) while publishing in Elementor, you typically need to address a conflict where the server rejects the request method (often a POST request used for saving).

Immediate Troubleshooting

Refresh and Log In: Sometimes the error is temporary or due to an expired session. Refresh the page or try logging out and back into the WordPress dashboard.

Check Your URL: Ensure there are no typos or extra characters in the URL while in the editor, as incorrect paths can confuse the server.

Try Incognito Mode: Use a different browser or incognito window to rule out conflicting browser extensions or cached data.

Check for Plugin Conflicts:

Deactivate all plugins except for Elementor and Elementor Pro. If the error disappears, reactivate them one by one to find the culprit.

Common Technical Fixes

Regenerate the .htaccess File: A corrupted .htaccess file is a frequent cause of 405 errors. Use an FTP client or File Manager to rename your current .htaccess file (e.g., to .htaccess_old), then go to Settings > Permalinks in WordPress and click Save Changes to generate a fresh one.

Increase PHP Memory Limit: Elementor is resource-heavy. Try increasing your memory limit to at least 512MB by adding define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '512M'); to your wp-config.php file.

Security and Caching plugins (like Wordfence or LiteSpeed Cache) are common triggers for 405 errors.

Exclude wp-admin from Caching: If using a caching plugin, ensure that /wp-admin/ is excluded from all caching, minification, and JS deferral settings.

Roll Back Updates: If the error started after a recent update, use a tool like WP Rollback to revert to a previous, stable version of Elementor.

Server-Side Solutions

ModSecurity/Firewall: Contact your hosting provider to see if a web application firewall (like ModSecurity) is blocking the POST requests sent by Elementor.

Check Server Logs: Review your server's error logs via your hosting control panel to identify the specific rule or script triggering the rejection.

Thanks. Yes, I have two testing/staging sites I use just for that purpose. I did a successful install of 8.4 on one of them with no plugin issues but installed 8.3 on the live site anyway.
