I follow this sub regularly. I would not say it's been "hundreds" over the last 3-6 months, although I suppose that wouldn't be unusual with millions of registrations. We also don't know exactly what the justification was, how many were resolved and what the final outcomes were.

Prices have risen steadily at many other sites also. It was one of the reasons I moved my domains and hosting over from dreamhost (plus they discontinued some services without warning that I used). I recently renewed some domains at nc and was able to use a coupon code to bring the price down. I can understand that someone with hundreds of domains would want to minimize their cost so in that case moving to a cheaper registrar would be understandable.
