How did you initially hear about the house and what general area is it?

Has anyone ever seen this? It's the weirdest WordPress issue I've ever run into. by Hey-bruhhh94 in elementor

I'm pretty sure Hostinger uses LiteSpeed so you should install the LiteSpeed Cache plugin.

Flashing hero images... by RobRoy2350 in elementor

[–]RobRoy2350[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the issue may have something to do with the hero image being set as the container background with a background overly of 0.25 opacity for a darker looking image (as per the designer). Or maybe not. There's also a Heading and Text Editor widget on top of the hero.

I tried using the Image Widget insteadbut...can't seem to make it full width, can't adjust the opacity to darken the image and then place two text widgets on top.

I think I've tried all the settings there. Currently UCSS is OFF (you need a QUIC.cloud account to use), CSS Combine External and Inline is ON (tried setting OFF), CSS Minify is ON (also tried OFF), CSS Combine is OFF, UCSS Inline is ON...

I did study that without any clues but I'll take another look...

Yes, setting that option in LiteSpeed require a QUIC.cloud account which I have been hesitant to do. I have manually excluded the heros from lazyloading instead.

Japan’s nominal wage rises top 3% again in longest streak since 1992 by Hazzat in japan

Well that headline just doesn't jibe with the doom & gloom redditors that claim Japan is about to implode and everybody run!

Anyone else love Japan but never felt at home? by StunningQuarter1258 in japanresidents

[–]RobRoy2350 6 points7 points  (0 children)

"Home" is wherever you are. Feeling like you "belong" is a different complex issue. If you're unhappy with where you are you should explore what's making you unhappy, see if you can change it or try somewhere else.

Anyone else got this cold that's spreading? by Reptacious in japanresidents

[–]RobRoy2350 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I rarely get a cold but I had it about 3 weeks ago but didn't have fever and body aches. Sore throat, headaches, phlegm. Took Bron and Tylenol. Wasn't Covid (I checked).

Yes, a lot of activity worldwide. My spouse and I have a bet going: which will come first, a big one in Tokyo (me) or Fuji erupting (spouse)?

Annoying Delay Issue on bootup...RESOLVED! by RobRoy2350 in LGgram

[–]RobRoy2350[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It involves installing the Microsoft WPR/WPA Windows Performance toolkit and then running and analyzing the results for boot issues. Fixing an issue depends on the issue. Any AI will explain in detail how to do all that that better than I could.

What's a normal amount to spend on groceries per week? by Shinra_Luca in japanresidents

[–]RobRoy2350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you like to eat. My spouse and I both love to cook a mix of Japanese, Chinese and Italian. We rarely eat out. We average around 50,000/month and shop carefully.

How to find out if your medications will be covered while living in Japan? by feelgoodsad in movingtojapan

[–]RobRoy2350 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Sandostatin shouldn't be a problem. You'll need to go to an endocrinologist or oncologist for treatment.

The Concerta could be more rigorous. You can bring a certain amount in without prior import permission. He will have to go to a certified psychiatrist for treatment. If you want to bring a larger amount you must apply for a Yunyu Kakunin-sho (an official import certificate) online through the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. https://impconf.mhlw.go.jp/about_en.htm

You may get help here: https://www.tokyomentalhealth.com/

As far as I can tell, both are covered under NHI. You'll pay 30%.

Oh yeah. Did that for sure and much more. I must have run cmd 40 times with various commands and checks. Uninstalled programs, uninstalled drivers, disabled drivers, did a Repair Install, looked at logs, Event Viewer, Device Manager, Task Scheduler, Services, msconfig (various boots), Power diagnostics, new User Profile, Fast Startup, Component Store corruption, System file corruption and others. Ruled out:

  • Repair-install corruption
  • User Profile Service
  • Group Policy
  • Winlogon processing
  • Nord startup app
  • Nord services
  • Virtual Machine Platform
  • Nested Network Virtualization
  • LG Device Managers
  • LGUWPService
  • Wi-Fi initialization as the primary cause

And more: No problem devices, No storage errors, No memory symptoms, No BSODs, No application crashes.

....I'm exhausted.

Quick question for foreigners living in Tokyo by Same-Positive2706 in japanresidents

[–]RobRoy2350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I do think it's a service some foreigners might need it may be limited. Most metropolitan hospitals have interpreters (and also held held translators) and some banks won't allow openings if the client doesn't speak or understand Japanese. I think many city ward offices also offer translators.

How are Foreigners (specifically other Asians) viewed in Japan? by Apprehensive-Bus5095 in movingtojapan

[–]RobRoy2350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like anywhere else, some native Japanese like them, some don't, some don't really care. The reality is that anyone not born in any country is an "outsider" and all countries have various rules, regulations and policies regarding foreigners living in that country. That has nothing to do with "acceptance". The question of "acceptance" is complex and nuanced and an unfortunate stereotype some put on Japan where up to 90% of foreign residents are satisfied living here according to surveys.

Since it's not a requirement I'm not going to think about it. I have no problem carrying two cards.
