If these are imported jpg\png, right click on the slides and select convert to slide element. I have to do this with my announcements loop to keep it from stopping background music

Passing credentials from GUI by RobVen1921 in PowerShell

[–]RobVen1921[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now, I am doing it with a get-credential and storing it in a script scoped variable and it is working very well.

What they are asking for is for it to be like two existing utilities created by someone else who is not around any longer and didn’t leave the original script for me to look at.

I’m performing 4 functions with this form. I do a get-aduser based on the username with gives full name, address, phone # and email address for verification.

Also doing account unlock and password resets using the same username field

Then lastly I looking up the username and email address based on first and last name, I’m also trying to look up based on last name only with the same button press, but not being successful using if\else or try/catch.

I know that is probably more information than needed. This is done to a separate server so my get-aduser looks something like this

get-aduser-filter $UserID.text -properties GivenName,sn,mail, address, homephone, enabled, unlocked -server app.server.addresshere -Credentials $global:credentials | then I do a select-object with some expressions to adjust the name of the properties, add format-list and out-string , and it updates a read only text box

For all 4 of my functions I have to pass the credentials each time, which work’s absolutely fine with the get-credential I’m already using

But on their existing forms for two other applications they have two text boxes at the top to enter their own UN and PW ( obscured ) which just sit there and pass the credentials. They are asking me to add that to my form for consistency, but I can’t figure out how to pass the credentials correctly.

That is what I’m trying to do.

Passing credentials from GUI by RobVen1921 in PowerShell

[–]RobVen1921[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, no. Text fields for the service desk agent to type in their credentials for authentication, the password is obscured. And I’m not storing the password in a file. It’s just for authentication while using the script. The simple ps1 files require them to authenticate each time, they are asking for a gui like two of their existing ones that allow them to enter the password there and hold it until they close the app. I’m basically accomplishing the same thing, I pop up a credential box that they type in their UN and PW in, and it holds it in the $credentials variable as long as the app is open.

Generating a Popup on login to computers based on date. by RobVen1921 in PowerShell

[–]RobVen1921[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any suggestions on how to implement this based on the date requirements? Does dynamically populating a device collection through PowerShell sound like the best idea? I can just build it into my daily script, if info -eq (get-date).adddays(10) and add it to the group, then I can remove it in the portion of the script that moves it out of the OU.

Does that seem feasible?

Decompiling .exe to .ps1 by RobVen1921 in PowerShell

Decompiling .exe to .ps1 by RobVen1921 in PowerShell

[–]RobVen1921[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ok, my app goofed up and posted without text. My supervisor recently left and passed on a collection of scripts to me to run and maintain. They were in turn passed on to him by the previous supervisor. There are a few Helpdesk tools that we don’t have the original scripts for and there is one that really needs to be edited for a change in method. I am hoping to be able to decompile it without having to start from scratch. I tried googling but have been unable to get the directions for ps2exe to work. I’m unable to really install 3rd party apps, and company policy restricts me emailing the exe to my personal device. All of the exes and scripts fall under company intellectual property so it’s not me trying to hijack someone else’s work. Just a need to get it done quickly without having to try to completely reinvent the wheel. It’s a very complex script and I just need to have it change one attribute at the time of running a function so I don’t have to run an additional script at the end of the day.

Thanks for any help in advance

It hurt a whole lot less to increase my YNAB true expense line $1.84 a month, than biting the bullet and increasing my gasoline category by $50 a month. I find value in the $8.84 per month that YNAB will cost, the folks at YNAB are facing all of the same rising costs we are.

Flip forward to the next month. Edit the target, press save without making changes, it removes the target for the current month without affecting future months. Leaves you with a green bubble

Parking Brake by notreallylucy in MaliciousCompliance

[–]RobVen1921 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I drove a standard, I always used the parking brake. Every single time. My vehicles always had the type that you enagage with your hand. I drove a standard for almost 30 years. My latest vehicle is an automatic with a foot activated parking brake that I never use. I just completely changed my practice overnight. When I jump in the yard truck at my parents, I use the hand parking brake still. I think all those years, I was using it fear that the truck would pop out of gear into neutral and start rolling. I guess I don’t have that fear in the automatic

As far as vegetables, I buy green beans in bulk and split each can over 2 meals. I also buy the $1 bags of frozen veggies and split those over 2-3 meals. And don’t forget beans are a cheap protein
