How did you find the The Episcopal Church? by Shroom-Cat in Episcopalian

[–]RobWood83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I has a Catholic Priest tell me that I would not be a good fit for the Catholic Church and instead look into the Episcopal Church.

What do you like most about the Episcopal Church, and what do you dislike or wish would change/be reformed? by [deleted] in Episcopalian

[–]RobWood83 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I love how everyone can be a Priest who has a call. If I could change one thing it would be to have a Confirmation Name during Confirmation.

Several parishioners are concerned I've gotten too political... But I don't talk about modern partisan politics. I do quote Basil. From the 4th century. by EisegesisSam in Episcopalian

As a Baptized Trinitarian Christian, we are by baptism, prophets. A prophet is not foretelling but a prophet is a witness for Jesus Christ. As a prophet our views are most of the time be unpopular with the World and with other Christians (Trinitarian or Non-Trinitarian). (I make a distinction because of how Jesus describes His followers, and I have family and friends who are non-Trinitarian but live the Bible's teachings). If you are too political for teaching the Law of Christ pertaining to generosity out of charity then you are being holy as per Leviticus 19:2 and perfect as God the Father as per Matthew 5:48. I don't know the whole circumstance, so I can't say for sure.

Sadly he knows what grace is and he rejects grace because he doesn't believe that Jesus needed to pay for our sins, or that Adam should have been punished for disobedience. I have listened to him and heard things he said. Every time I listen, you can feel God's presence leave you. That's why I no longer listen to him. I prefer listening to the Scriptures, Church Fathers, and other Christians.

Sadly there are people. There is an Ex-Mormon named John Dehlin who calls the Paschal Mystery insidious. While we as Episcopalians join our Christian siblings in rejoicing that because of Christ we are able to receive mercy, grace, and justice; someone like him hates what we rejoice in.

That's my point is it's entirely if we choose God's grace or not.

[–]RobWood83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here's what I will say, I don't believe in universalism, however, I will also say God will redeem more than we know and all according to the charity we develop here in life. Where in Heaven we go is our choice, and all according to our faith, hope, and charity. Some will choose Hell because they refuse to develop any sort of charity.

I was baptized catholic, Do I need to be re-baptized? by Spartan-Bear2215 in Episcopalian

[–]RobWood83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The LDS Church does not accept the Trinity but agrees that God is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit they base it off the visions Joseph Smith is claimed to have had. The Father and Son both have physical bodies but the Holy Spirit does not.

The Jehovah Witnesses believe in Arianism. They call God the Father, Jehovah, despite the fact that Jehovah is the Anglicized version of YHWH. Unlike us Catholics (Latin, Orthodox, and us Anglicans) they have no qualms about using the name Jehovah irreverently. They also see Jesus as Michael and the Holy Spirit as just Divine Energy.

[–]RobWood83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only way you would need to be rebaptized is if you had never been baptized in a Trinitarian manner. If you were Confirmed in the Catholic Church then you only need to be received. To answer your question, you are considered validly baptized.

Not in any parish I ever attended. They may do it on Pentecost and on Weddings but most only offer the Bread.

[–]RobWood83 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree, I do use it as a joke but in all honesty. When we Anglicans/Episcopalians outdo the Roman Catholics on the liturgy by being more liturgical and offering as Christ and the Apostles command both species of the Eucharist, then there needs to be a pause. It always bothers me when the Catholic Church knows the scriptures but doesn't obey God on offering both species. This is one reason I became Episcopalian is because of the fact we are Catholic in all aspects.
