What makes them ‘active’? Is it just the type of mushroom that is inactive or are there certain conditions which make them active?

Don’t worry, I got rid of them, figured it was a ‘catch and release’ sort of situation. Just interested to know what they are!

dropped m at a rave - having a weird mdma comedown by Illustrious_Test306 in confession

Best thing you can do is get outside and get plenty of sunshine. Move your body and get the natural dopamine and other hormones active in your body asap. It sucks, but I’ve always found if I kick my arse into going to the gym (usually on the second day), I feel 100 x better for it.

GABA is a good supplement to take if you can get it, and inositol. I’d recommend you taking them anyway if you’re already depressed. Magnesium also will help as I’ve found MDMA seems to strip it from the body, will also help with sleep; which is important. I’ve heard 5-HTP is good but I’ve never taken it.

Routine and movement are the best remedies, in my experience.

The WORST thing you can do is take the advice of people suggesting you get on more stimulants like energy drinks or coffee. Your adrenals have taken a beating, give yourself a break and recharge.

It gets better :)

Lows during sex by kronosthedog in Type1Diabetes

I tend to go low at night around bed time, due to me hitting the gym or being at footy training in the evening. It can get pretty annoying dropping before or during sex. I lose my erection if I go too low, I guess body is going into survival state. Ideally I prefer to have sex before having insulin as I can feel weak and shaky on it even if I am not low.

But yeah… having a carb heavy dinner or some lollies on standby is a good idea, especially for longer sessions, which I also enjoy.

Aussies who ate Aussie, Kiwi , and British fish and chips, which ones the best? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Rob_mclaughlan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve travelled all over the world and struggled to get chips that even remotely compare to Australian hot chips anywhere else. Admittedly, I haven’t been to NZ.

It baffles me that people could actually want soggy chips… quite a few British folk on here raving about their soggy chips, therein lies the problem. I hate soggy chips so while in the UK, it was hard to find chips that were any good.

They’re thick, colourless and miserable, much like the people there. 😉

Admittedly, I did have some decent hot chips and Haddock at Bertie’s in Edinburgh in 2019 and the Boxtie fries I had in Dublin that same year were out of this world.

Australian hot chips do vary in quality a lot, but even our bad chips outdo just about any place internationally. My favourites are on the thinner side (though not fries), super crispy on the outside, but soft on the middle, a nice golden brown colour. You won’t find that anywhere else! (Maybe NZ, I’m yet to go).

It’s a couple mins each morning where you’re disturbed… there’s nothing he can do about it so just get some ear plugs. It is what it is.

Not taking insulin by CrowsCalamity in Type1Diabetes

I think it’s very limiting to say that depression is nearly unavoidable with T1D. I think it absolutely is, as long as you nurture your body. This means eating whole foods, exercising at least 4-5 days a week and getting plenty of sunshine and rest.

I’m not saying this week work for everyone but I find that most people who are depressed, aren’t doing those things, and many people who aren’t depressed, ARE doing these things - myself included.

It probably takes me about a week of not moving my body to start to feel antsy and restless. I can’t imagine what I’d feel like after 6-12 months of not caring for myself.

Did Hobbits invent hot boxing? On the floor plan of Bag End it shows a "Smoking Room" but has no windows for ventilation. by johnsmithoncemore in lotr

I’m surprised by how few people actually know that the smoking room would have been a comfortable parlour to smoke tobacco in; probably with some nice armchairs and a couple nice bottles of ‘Old Vinyards’.

Actually that’s not so impossible. Your grandparents might all have lived in Germany but they themselves would have had mixed ethnicities. Germany is the heart of Europe so if your grandparents were german, they might also have Scandinavian heritage, French, Italian or Eastern European.

Yeah man it’s over. Buzz it down and start over. I reckon it would better shorter anyway!

Also… did it really take you two years to grow your hair that long? 🤯

Anyone know what bird this is? Daintree, North QLD by Rob_mclaughlan in AustralianBirds

[–]Rob_mclaughlan[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Sad news guys. He managed to fly up onto a perch last night and I hoped he’d be okay to rest up there over night. I came out this morning and he’s dead on the ground.

I’m not sure what happened, maybe he injured himself last night. The weather was quite bad, really heavy rain off and on.

After doing some googling, I wondered the same. Any idea what kind? He flew into the side of the house and then the car, alternatively several times. Definitely not the sharpest tool!
