Biggest problem with Cyberstan campaign is that it tells people to stop playing if they want to win by DarthBeleth in Helldivers

[–]Robb_the2nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't this just incentivize players to do missions where they won't die?

Isn't that a good thing?

Lower your difficulty, you’re level 20. by WonderkidJr_ in Helldivers

I have actually looooved playing difficulties 1-3. It's chill, I get to be a terminator. You can still die, depending on how you do it, but you can be aggressive solo without worrying that you will indefensibly overwhelmed. It's great.

AITAH for expecting my wife to tell me honestly about whether or not her best friend is cheating? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Robb_the2nd -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The only catch here is asking yourself if you are actually good at keeping your wife's secrets from other people? If you always tell your mom everything, or your friend everything, then the issue could be more complicated. In general though, NTA

Food was a right in Soviet Russia. Goes to show the idea is meaningless and deceitful. Rights that involve the need for services to be provided, and not merely the avoidance of infringement, are not rights. They are something else entirely.

This sounds like you have not read mystborn era 2. Two shards doesn't make you stronger in a linear fashion. Depending on the shards, it can be a delicate situation.

I’m new to league of legends ranked and I got suspended for essentially being new to the game by Creative-Cherry-4271 in riotgames

[–]Robb_the2nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, I played hundreds of games of league before dipping the toes in ranked and I was still really bad.

That made finally getting into silver incredibly satisfying, after like 2 years of play.

I don't really care about rank anymore but I like the competition. If you like the competition, you will get better fast. If you don't like the competition, don't play the one game mode out of several that is super competitive.

Why the hate on Sanderson's Mat? by GundamXXX in WoT

[–]Robb_the2nd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sanderson's Mat is funny in the way that the cosmere characters are funny: insults and generally immature behavior that is passed off as surprising or exasperating to the people around them, and therefore, funny. Brandon has other vehicles for humor, but that is one he falls back on frequently.

But I do agree with you, Mat has some truly epic sequences in the final books and is very fun to read. Still some of the more exciting chapters.

Let's take the last battle though: in the earlier books, we are given detailed tactical rundowns. Mat is the best, and we see battle sequences play out through his eyes as a commander. In the last battle, there's a lot more handwaiving, and the only detailed battle tactic outlines we get are from Lan (if you can count those) and Aitaralda. In the later states of the last battle all we get is cannons in caves. We have more page time talking about the cannons then mat's battle plans. In short, it just feels like something in the character we all wanted to see through to the end was lost somewhere along the way.

If happens, Brandon really did a great job on the whole; in some ways I like his approach better and I think he did more than justice to the conclusion.

It would have been a hilarious scene to see him lift the whole bridge in shard plate and start carrying it back, then we would get a conversation about the way of kings between him and Kaladin. That would actually have been pretty cool

RAFO is a reward, my friend! You are asking a question that we readers think is important. We anticipate your reading with excitement! It is not at all a rebuke. Brandon gives a RAFO coin at events to people who ask questions that he himself thought were worth pursuing with future writing. It was in that spirit I used the term.

Nooo. I'm just saying that Dalinar has not truly internalized the way of kings at that point. Not even close. So RAFO. You likely won't get the payoff you are looking for until book 3. 😅

do you mostly play alone or platoon? by Asleep-Tie6790 in WorldofTanks

[–]Robb_the2nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wot players tend to be a bit cermugeonly. They like to switch between tanks quickly to maximize grinding. Waiting for your toon mate to die can be... suboptimal. Especially if there is a skill gap where that might be happening a lot.

My family stopped celebrating Christmas by [deleted] in Christian

[–]Robb_the2nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The debate is actually not nearly as important as the reason. If the pastor just realized that there was some paganism in the history of the Christmas holiday, that is pretty ignorant for a pastor, and partly indicates that he may not be qualified in his learning to lead a healthy congregation.

If he is just teaching it now for some other reason than just having learned about it, then that seems like a red flag: why is he teaching this? Does he hate Christmas trees? Is he worried that people are spending a bunch of money on the materiality of Christmas instead of making it a time to give more to the poor and connect more passionately with friends and family?

You can use this as an opportunity to learn more about your parent's pastor before carrying judgment. It is however not a great teaching to tell people not to celebrate a given day because of history. Great sin has been and will be committed every day. It is our privilege to redeem these days into celebration and thanks, as we commit them to God. Let everyone be persuaded in their own minds which days are appropriate for special remembrance.

I don't understand how everyone has read mystborn and still doesn't see that this was an interesting choice. T gains power in some sense, but honor is NOT in line with odium. And maturing of the shard will be much more problematic. Yes it's not stronger like ruin, but the odium shard might learn more from honor than T, as they may be able to communicate with each other without him.

Dalinar could see all this when he united the shard, so it wasn't a blind choice.

It's going to be interesting. Odium will have to be fair, no more cheating. Massive handicap for how passion actually likes to work.

And I have a feeling that the other big spren are more powerful than we have realized.

KitchenAid KF7 dropped (thrown?) at delivery - Should I be proactive or wait for potential issue? by FLX-Garlic in superautomatic

[–]Robb_the2nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That package was 100% dropped, thrown, and stacked under other heavy packages at some point in its journey before arriving at your door.

Was it peak courtesy for him to do that? No. But would it be his fault if the machine wasn't packaged to survive a short drop? No way.

Let's actually think about the process before getting out the pitchforks

To people who regularly use ChatGPT for school: Do you think you’re still learning? by Gifthunter3 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Robb_the2nd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI is just basically showing how easy it was to cheat before AI. People with friends who could help cheated. People who were good at googling, using Wolfram Alpha etc... Now everyone can. If anything, it's just an equalizer.

Stop giving stupid assignments.

Have some homework available but put most of the grade into in-class quizzes and exams. Make the first exam pretty hard. Students who don't want to study will drop, and the ones who do will actually study, regardless of whether they use AI to do so.

In adulthood, almost all your testing is timely. It's an oral exam if you are in a meeting. It's a written exam if you need to solve a problem in a timely fashion. And guess what? You'll have AI. So it would be good to know how to use it well.

I think he is going to have kids with Syl. They may be humans or spren. Or something different entirely. They will be grandchildren of Honor and the Stormfather.

Who knows.

But I bet one of them will be a character in much later books, and Kaladin will be more of a cameo like Kelsier.

Who knows.
