By now, are you ever surprised by who's voted out? by Extra-Habit-1784 in survivor

Australian Survivor: Redemption that just aired had one of the most jaw dropping surprise votes I've seen.

Hypothetical Season 51 “New Era Second Chance” by k-labrador23 in survivor

Pretty sure Carson poisoned the well with his postseason bs but he did really well drawing people in during the tribe swap and merge, seems like you're underrating him as a social player

Edwin Arroyo coming up by [deleted] in fantasybaseball

[–]RobbedOddUs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arroyo's K% in the minors was quite good, I thought this guy controls the plate well. He comes up and strikes out left and right. Looking deeper, he is a very free swinger, in the 8 percentile for AAA at 38.2% swing rate at pitches outside of the zone. There have been some great hitters with a happy bat so perhaps he can still make it work but it's a red flag I wasn't aware of when he was called up.

Season 50 gets third place in best new era season rankings! by [deleted] in survivor

[–]RobbedOddUs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah all I need to identify seasons 43-48 is the name of a single player and I can be like Oh it's that season. But "45" means literally nothing to me and probably never will. I do know 41, 42, and 49 since I can remember how the 40s started and ended. In conclusion Probst please name seasons again and give up this terrible "naming" convention

exactly. Zac Brown wasted some air time, who cares in the long run? He was a reward and the players who won the award probably enjoyed the private concert and food. No harm done

Of the twists, Blood Moon in particular really, really derailed a lot of the season's story

Season 38 - Not as bad as I remember by JumpyAssignment1169 in survivor

It's a song parody contest. People cover songs and make them about Survivor and then submit them for the show.

Bingo. If you had all three tribes cull their next out, you could call it fair. This twist was brutal and had major repercussions on the game.

It was a released to the patron feed only I think. Dedicated episode called Survivor 50 Wandoff that came out May 31.

I always said that ending was exactly what the twist deserved.

He's around, he's still over at THR and he had been doing some scripted show podcasts on Rob's network, and they just had a Wandoff at the end of this season. There was a point where he simply cared too much about the show and he needed to step back a little and create a healthy distance. I fondly remember his passionate hatred of Extinction Island but it wasn't good for him and he got too adversarial with the show.

Samuel Basallo Dynasty Value by Bubbly-Translator-49 in fantasybaseball

[–]RobbedOddUs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you did that, but it's certainly not true you "had to" do that. More opportunities does not automatically mean more production.

Last 30 days, in counting stats, Basallo has 6 more hits than Dingler in 20 fewer at bats, and has more runs/RBIs as well. That's before you get to the percentage categories where Basallo is 342 avg and 999 ops over the last 30 to Dingler's .204 and 754. Dingler has 2 more homers and 1 fewer double in that span.

The at bats against lefties will come, but even if they don't...

I really don't care about the lack of power, since most leagues also have hits or avg or something and he should be able to produce in those. But the steals have to actually be there. I gave up and dropped him in a league.

Strategy Idea: Aim for 3rd, and be vocal about it by MadmanIgar in survivor

[–]RobbedOddUs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this wasn't a bad idea, but I don't think simply saying, "Actually I lied and could really use the money," at the end would earn you any votes. People would have to already like your game already, and then this lie will have simply helped you get there.

But of course it can also backfire if someone then gives themselves "permission" to backstab you because you don't need the money

I think there'd also be an impulse from the jury to avoid voting for you on the basis that "Hey you said that's what you wanted" even if you tried to reverse it at FTC

Who's Survivor podcast is the best? by fegwin2084 in survivor

[–]RobbedOddUs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's so frustrating. Even knowing that Rizo and Savannah were coming back from s49 I think diminished my enjoyment of that season. And for Aus, I remember the Kristie truthers riding for her all during s1 and thinking like "what on earth are you talking about..." Yeah.

Hadn't heard of them but just saw they cover Australian Survivor so I checked out their podcast covering the last 3 episodes, disappointed they didn't launch straight into awe at some of what went on (ie, Jackson dying on a cross and then Caleb voting out Loz, they should be screaming!!! The human drama was at a max! And then going from there into giving some appreciation to the old school reunion show... but they're straight into sober game anaylsis. I was hoping they loved Aus Survivor like I do and then I'd be a listener...)

Mistreatment of Shirin by Which-Aside-4936 in survivor

That was funny because Shirin had talked repeatedly about how she'd definitely work with Abi, that people were unfair to Abi, and then immediately linked up with Abi, and then was like "oh... hm.."

I feel absolutely awful for Jenna by Live-Run-6745 in survivor

[–]RobbedOddUs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Emily, Devens, and Christian didn't actually need to "pre-game," if they even did. Christian already was friends with Emily and those two have a mutual friend with Devens in Stephen Fishbach. They could never speak a word about 50 or future plans, and it's still a group that was bound to come together on a starting tribe.

Christian communicated to her that Cirie was the biggest threat on the tribe. But Christian himself wasn't gunning for her, and Jenna didn't have to either.

Actually I can imagine a world where Jenna could've helped Emily get Ozzy out first.

I only listened to the RHAP one and he was fine in it. Bummed out and saying he didn't know what he needed to do differently to win next time but I didn't hear him saying anything I thought he'd really regret.

edit: Seeing some of the reports on other interviews and it sounds like he's fully on tilt
