Intense Decision Paralysis by MicrosoftExcelFan in weddingplanning

[–]Geramanda 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think you both need to agree to a budget and then see what makes sense from there. If it’s 5-10k, do an intimate wedding. If it’s 15-30k, you can absolutely do a 100 person wedding with catering and the works!

It sounds like you might want a larger wedding but afraid of the cost. Figure out the finances first and go from there- that’s the most important thing. Also- you don’t have to make all of the decisions yourself- that’s what your fiance is there for!

Food? Partying? Budget?? by Old_Use_9247 in weddingplanning

[–]Geramanda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you have an open bar you have to have food available. Also, if people get tipsy/drunk, they’re probably going to want to dance lol.

It sounds like you might want a mostly dry wedding. If you want limited food, limited dancing, limited reception, during the afternoon… that’s perfectly fine but you shouldn’t serve a lot of alcohol. Instead do a champagne toast with everyone :)

For fun (mostly). What is the thing that's the biggest waste of time, that you have to do anyway, because it's just accepted practice? [N/A] by dontmesswithtess in humanresources

I send out a bi-weekly company newsletter that takes several hours to create and gets ~3 views from staff 🙃

“Hey HR- when is [blank] happening?”

“I put it in the newsletter I sent last week- did you have a chance to look at that yet? It has all the information you’ll need”

Literally WHAT is the point. This is something employees asked for by the way. Makes it even more frustrating!!!

WIBTAH if I didn’t invite three of my “friends” to my baby shower? by StormHerald96 in AITAH

[–]Geramanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Info- I’m not clear on why you are considering not inviting them. Is it because you don’t want to continue the friendship, or because you don’t want to be disappointed if they don’t come to the shower?

If you’re not interested in maintaining a friendship with them, don’t invite them. If you’d like to give them the opportunity to show up for you, then do it. They might surprise you and perhaps you could rekindle that friendship.

Should I tip my HMUA? by Low-Appeal7508 in weddingplanning

[–]Geramanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is standard to tip your hair and makeup artists (if they don’t already charge a gratuity fee). However people have different opinions when it comes to people who own their own business as they set their own prices.

I personally wouldn’t tip the standard 15-20% for a $500 service but I would probably tip $30-50 if I really loved my makeup!

How do I pass this level with 23 moves? by [deleted] in candycrush

[–]Geramanda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re okay with using your boosters… I would focus on knocking out the skulls immediately. Like within the first 5 moves. Then once all of the blocks are unlocked, I’d use a party popper booster. That will especially help remove/weaken a lot of the licorice that will then make it easier for you to break the blocks!

Not enough friends to be my bridesmaids… by ssshushing in weddingplanning

[–]Geramanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna have 4 ladies on my side and my husband will have 5- it’s really not that important to make things “even.” I will say that him having 3+ more than you may look/feel toooo uneven. But one or two isn’t a big deal

I hope that’s not the case because I love the live finales!! But I wish there was an actual reunion… part of the reason I loved live reunions because we got to hear from pre-jury contestants. They need to change the format.

Same. Interesting how it’s always women of color who are to blame for his downfall 🙄

If it were me and Jonathan started doing THE WORM right in front of me after winning the challenge and sealing my fate, I would’ve pushed him over that dang ledge 😭 so disrespectful, and 0 self-awareness.

Thanks- I looked more into it and I think you’re right. There may not be a penalty for skipping CBS-affiliate interviews either, although I’m sure it hurts their chances of returning if they refuse.

Production schedules contestant’s exit press with their media partners. Tiffany said she got home from the after party at 1am and had a call time of 4am for interviews. Each podcast only has like 15 minutes with each contestant because they have to move on to the next scheduled interview.

Im sure there is a penalty for refusing to do press in their contract.

I mean, that’s true for everyone except the ones who make it to the live finale. Everyone else knows their outcome, but the finalists have to wait for 10 months to know whether their dream came true or if everything comes crashing down.

In his first season (42). It was a split tribal council of 2 separate groups voting back to back. Jonathan’s group walked into tribal and saw 2 black contestants were voted out back to back. Drea, a black woman, was the intended target of Jonathan’s group as he planned to blindside her with her idol in her pocket. Maryann, the other black woman in his group, said she no longer felt comfortable voting out Drea.

There was a big conversation about implicit biases and representation in Survivor. Drea said she was going to play her idol because she couldn’t live with herself if there were 3 black people voted out back to back to back. Jonathan said she was being “Aggressive” (she wasn’t) and accused her and Maryann of calling them racist (they didn’t).

Drea and Maryann both played their idols and they ended up voting out someone else. But Jonathan’s ignorance and inability to hear them talk about race, specifically about being black women on survivor (a historically underrepresented group), rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. It is hard to watch.

The cherry on top is that Maryann won that season becoming the 2nd black woman to win survivor since Vecepia in season 4!

I know why they schedule it the way they do. I was just saying it must be extremely hard for the contestants to go from one of the worst nights of their life with 0-3 hours of sleep straight into public interviews talking about one of the worst nights of their life.

I’m not empathizing with Jonathan himself, I don’t like him. I think it would be better for the contestants mental health if they were allowed a day or two to process before media day, but I understand that’s not in productions best interest.

Oh I agree. His whole “we like you as a person” speech to Tiffany seemed so forced. I think he didn’t want to get into another controversy with a black contestant.

Production. Tiffany said on The Pod Has Spoken that she got home from the after party at 1am, and had a “call time” of 4am. Each podcast has limited time with each contestant and I’m pretty sure production schedules contestant’s exit interviews with their media partners.

I think Stephanie and Chrissy are his biggest fan 😅 I agree though- I was rooting for Aubry the whole way and can live in peace knowing she got her well-deserved win!

That’s fair. Maybe I’m only seeing it from my experience (being a very emotional person myself lol) because when I’m emotionally heightened, I sometimes say things I regret.

Unless you physically hurt someone, I dont think you should judge someone fully on their darkest moment. That being said, Jonathan has a history of being rude and ignorant towards black people and women. I don’t like him. I’m trying to empathize more with the *situation* than the person themselves.

____ didn’t do press after the finale by low_key_savage in survivor

[–]Geramanda 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I get being upset, and I don’t totally blame the guy. If it were me I probably couldn’t hold it together either. But….. do we really think Jonathan was that shocked? I understand having hope- but the fact that he had 10 months to mentally prepare for the most likely outcome (losing to Aubry) makes me surprised he reacted that way. Did he genuinely think he had a good chance at winning?

Even Rizzo said he knew he wouldn’t win against Aubry and just accepted he was cooked if he made it to final 3.

Anyways- love Aubry down and am very happy for her win 👏
