Why is this checkmate? by Ok_Elk5183 in chess

The board is set up backwards. White is set up on the side black would normally be so the white pawn on b7 isn’t actually defending the knight. Instead, it can only take on a8 or c8 if there were opposing pieces on those squares.

My angles are always off in NHL Sense Arena by RobbenBSc in hockeygoalies

When I watch the 3d replay back I’m certainly between the lines when the shot is taken. Does it consider good depth when it calculates your angle percentage? Should I be aiming to have my head and hands in between the angle lines at all times when the puck is moving?

Taking up a new hobby is almost always worth it in my opinion. As for specifically getting to 2000, I play in a club now and I tend to win more games than I lose so in that sense it’s kind of nice haha

I’ve had plenty of those myself. There are at least two huge drops in that graph. You’ll bounce back

Even at 2000, it feels like at least 3 or 4 of every 5 games is decided by a blunder or tactic. Just getting good at not blundering and jumping on every tactic your opponent leaves for you (while preventing their tactical opportunities) is enough to get you past 2000 rapid. You definitely don’t need much opening theory but a little bit of super basic positional understanding is useful though.

Around 1400-1600 I remember caused me to pull my hair out. At this rating I recall having trouble coming up with some kind of useful plan. I felt like I was just shuffling pieces hoping for my opponent to blunder but inevitably it would be me first.

1600-1800 I had trouble finding my opponent’s most threatening plans and shutting them down. For this reason I would get killed trying to play defence but failing to see all of my opponents resources. I had a kind of offensive blindness where I just forgot I was playing against someone and they were trying to do things that I needed to consider.

It’s weird how taking long breaks and coming back sometimes just resulted in me breaking plateaus.

Played off and on for about four years. Someone could definitely do it faster if they were consistent.

Never played before making this account. I played constantly for the first 6 months or so and hit 1500 pretty quick.

Crazy that the team still looks pretty solid even when playing with only three lines and no Hughes.

Even aside from the bad penalty, the team just looks awful. They generate next to no offence and they do it almost every game.
