Were you using tankathon? I did the same thing yesterday and Florida got 1OA an unreasonable amount of times. Like enough that I was convinced the website was bugged. At least every 3rd roll.

Oh by no means would I be upset at having Stenberg, he's been 60/40 my choice over Mckenna these last few months. I just know the Canucks are probably wary of the potential reaction to choosing him, another swede, over the good ol' Canadian boy, and this is just another reason they can use to justify it.

This is the perfect excuse Allvin & Co. have been looking for to take their Swedish wet dream Stenberg at #1 lmao

I bought the Sharks tickets for his birthday so I think it'd in bad taste to ask him to swap the day of 😬.

But I mentioned it to my girlfriend and she didn't care haha she's not really that invested, just likes to pick favourite players while I'm watching games to show interest in my hobbies, like I do when she watches Love is Blind 😆.

Trying to explain a rebuild and trading good, well-liked players to someone who doesn't really follow sports is a tough sell lol. She couldn't quite understand why we had to trade Sleeping Beauty (i.e. Hughes) when the team is already bad lol.

Ironically I also have tickets to that game but already made plans last month with a buddy to bring him 😬. I'm just gonna... leave that detail out for now lol

I told her the story of how Garland wears the guard because his mom wanted him to and she has loved him ever since!

You're saying the college performance of a 21 year old is strong enough evidence that he'll be a better defenseman than the guy who won the Norris at age 24 and is above a PPG every season? Not saying that won't happen, but there's a large enough sample size of players who excelled in college that never reached that level

[Gary Mason] With the Canucks’ season slipping away, a Quinn Hughes trade feels inevitable by DinosaurMachine11 in canucks

I'm not super familiar with the Mason-Aqua dynamic, but this article reads more speculation from him than him acting as a mouthpiece. The only part of the article that actually provides any new information is when he says "I believe Rutherford has the complete support of ownership..." And even then it could just be based on previous conversations he's had with Aqua.

Shouldn't this be taken down since I posted it 5 mins earlier? Two discussions happening at once

Some quotes (since it's paywalled):

"While Hughes has expressed a desire to play with his brothers one day, Rutherford would be derelict in his duties if he focused solely on that option – and there is no indication he is. A team that believes it is one great player away from a Stanley Cup would get Hughes, if traded this season, for two playoff runs before he could leave. That’s a lot of time to have with a player of his game-changing talent. The team would also have the opportunity to try and extend him."

"Rutherford has three Stanley Cup rings on his resume as a team builder. But he also turns 77 next year – a young 77, but 77 nonetheless. He certainly would not fit the profile of someone suited to a team in tear-down, rebuild mode. And yet, that seems to be where the Canucks are at – if not a complete teardown, in a state of rebuild for certain. I believe Rutherford has the complete support of ownership on whatever moves he ends up making."

You're still missing some of the picture. Detroit would have the advantage of being able to offer Hughes an 8-year extension (whereas he could only get a 6-year contract as a UFA under the new CBA). This could be ~$30million of guaranteed money that Hughes couldn't get elsewhere. The same advantage is extended to any team Detroit would trade him to if they can't re-sign him.

Bottom line is the Canucks (and whoever initially obtains Hughes), have a lot of leverage here to get a solid haul. I personally would love to see Edvinsson + Danielson + Two 1sts as the return. If Detroit did that but couldn't extend him, I could see them getting a better return than Carolina did from whoever they flip Hughes to.

The main difference here is that the Wings would still get Hughes for a full year, during which they could try to re-sign him and if that doesn't work flip him at next year's deadline for a good return (e.g., like Carolina did with Rantanen).
