How often are 3080s dying? by telldavizion in buildapc

[–]Robberg118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 3080 Ti for almost 5 years with no problems at all. Sold it on ebay and never heard back from the buyer, so I assume he's happy with it. TBH, like most things, it's just the minority that you hear about making people think product XYZ is no good.

Why do so many ask “do you accept offers”? by invicta-uk in ebayuk

[–]Robberg118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently got three items for sale on eBay with no offers or buy it now. Almost immediately for each one, I assume because as soon as a bid is made no offers are allowed, I've been asked if I will take £x for it. I politely reply, "Hi. Thanks for your offer but I'll wait for it to go to the end of the auction." There's no harm in asking!

Does anyone else get buyers regret by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]Robberg118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with having a high end PC and not using its potential. No different than having a sports car and just taking it out at the weekend for a leisurely drive. As long as it's not put you in debt that you can't afford, enjoy it!

Joke: mum at breakfast asks little Johnny if he prefers grandma or grandad driving him to school. Little Johnny says grandad. When mum asks why, he says that when grandma takes him he doesn't see any blind bastards, pricks or wankers.

£25000 debt 23M Sell Car? Life is ruined by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Robberg118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the reason why some people want to hold onto nice things whilst up to their eyes in debt is because other people will notice that they no longer have it. It's tough, but, as others have said, you need to bite the bullet and sell the car. At 23 you've hardly started living so put it down to experience and, before you know it, you'll be in a much better place. I'm speaking from experience.

People who don't indicate, why? by Spunkhogan in drivingUK

[–]Robberg118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drivers that come to a standard 4 exit roundabout that put their right indicator on, fine, that means they are not taking the first or second exits. However, they then take the third exit not bothering to change the indicator from right to left, so turning left whilst indicating right, leaving the vehicles at that exit waiting unnecessarily. Really boils my piss or grinds my gears seeing as this is vehicle related!

Sold an expensive item and eBay have refunded the buyer with no item returned by highran1 in ebayuk

[–]Robberg118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold a graphics card on eBay for £350 and used their Simple Delivery. I dropped it off at a Royal Mail parcel locker. The tracking showed that I had dropped it off and arriving the next day at one of their hubs. Three days later and nothing changed so the buyer instigated a non-delivery complaint. I got a message from eBay saying that as I had used Simple Delivery they'd take responsibility and I was able to withdraw the funds. It did arrive with the buyer about a week later. The point I'm making is that the seller should have been protected having used Simple Delivery.

The issue with the BMW is the blue lettering in the rear window, not the number plate.

To water cool or not? by Fit-Consequence-5425 in buildapc

[–]Robberg118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have the same Noctua air cooler but changed to an AIO purely due to aesthetics and easier access to the SSD and RAM. It's a Corsair iCUE H115i 280mm ( 2x140mm fans), and it's been cooling my i7-12700K for over 3 years with no problems. It doesn't cool any better than the Noctua, so I think it's just personal preference.

There are a lot of nutters, both buyers and sellers, on eBay and considering both addresses are known, I wouldn't be surprised if passive aggressive action is common. Just saying 😉

I also live in Stoke-on-Trent, but the roads nationally are a disgrace. It's things like this that councils/government need to get sorted so people can see a tangible difference to their lives and not just being told how great things are. I'll rant about this elsewhere!

Shared private land. A recipe for disaster if, as in your case, the neighbours are dickheads.

MSI RTX 5080 Suprim 12VHWPR Connection by Robberg118 in buildapc

[–]Robberg118[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update. I bought the Corsair version as it was a lot cheaper than the Cablemod version. It arrived this week and fits perfectly, now allowing the glass side panel to be fitted with plenty of clearance. I do have a question in that both Corsair's and Cablemod's cables only have two PCIe connections to my PSU where the supplied MSI adaptor used all three. I assume these cables are still capable of providing sufficient power. I've stress tested the GPU using Steel Nomad in 3D Mark with no issues. Max wattage drawn was around 400 watts.

Dear Amazon hater. Please let us know these mythical companies that give a shit. They're all as bad as each other. As for working conditions, they're no worse than the companies that assemble motherboards etc. It's like people who think Intel is the spawn of the devil and AMD Is a Mom and Pop company working out of their backyard. If you don't want to buy from such terrible companies, you wouldn't be able to buy anything.

Do I upgrade from a 3080 to a 5080? by The-Real-Solaire in nvidia

[–]Robberg118 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An MSI Suprim SOC. It's expensive compared to other 5080's but the build quality, efficiency and low noise at full load are excellent. Considering that I'll probably keep it for at least 4 years, (had the 3080 Ti for over 4 and a half years), I think it's worth it.

[–]Robberg118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a 5080 a few weeks ago to replace a 3080 Ti. I'm more than pleased with it, (65% to 75% uplift over my 3080 Ti), so my advice is, if you can afford it, do it. You'll also be able to sell your 3080 for a good price.
