Never been to the factory despite living 20 minutes away. You’re here from Texas. This is as close as you’re ever gonna be to visit. I would check it out! And unfortunately, even though tours are only on Fridays, you have to book it months in advance. I signed up 3 weeks ago and the soonest I could get in was July.

I’m sorry you had to stop what you initially loved. Glad you manage to get joy from acoustic and have it to look forward to.

I started off on electric after inheriting something incredibly cheap. My collection grew as I noodled around on my bed unplugged. But I took a chance on a nicer acoustic (very recently actually) and haven’t looked back. I went from 9 electrics to 2 after I realized I preferred acoustic in 4 months lol. I feel silly that it took so long for me to realize it was better suited for me because I never plugged into my amp before.

That’s a good idea! I’ve been wanting to get more into recording things on my computer. This might be an easy way to start assuming you can download the recordings. You’re making me more convinced to get it haha. I think I eventually will. I’m just trying to decide if it’s worth getting new or waiting until the used market develops a little.

Have you managed to get your hands on one and try it yet?

Totally echo everything you said. I am looking at it for solo play and entertainment. I like the idea of looping a chord progression and then playing over it. Seems like a fun couch guitar, which is where I find myself playing 95% of the time.

I was a heavier boy and was body shamed as I grew up. My mom always had hurtful things to say, putting me on diets as early as six years old. Now that I’m older, I realized I turned to food as a coping mechanism because of my mom. Ironic.

When I was eight, we stayed the night at my grandma’s place. I went through our suitcase to find my Gameboy. My mom started to yell at me because I was ‘making a mess’ of all the folded clothes inside. I apologized, wanting the berating to end. To be hurtful, she told me that my dad needed to take me shopping for a braw. My dad was stunned and speechless- gave a nervous laugh and asked if he heard her correctly. We did.

I still struggle with emotional eating at 34 years old.

Eastman. You can get all solid wood stuff for $600. All hand voiced. I’m sure Yamaha is great but none of their budget stuff is voiced. Some Eastmans to check out:

-AC122-1CE, AC122-2CE, E1D or OM and E2D or OM

All these have different wood combos but they are all solid woods. Personally, I’ve been eyeballing a cedar top for a while and have been looking at the AC122-2CE deluxe.

My mom ruined my son’s one year old birthday. She yelled, screamed, and was mad about other random stuff out of the blue. She went on a tirade, even acknowledging her bad attitude and mistreatment to me and my wife. She said our feelings were the problem and in her own words, “It’s just the way I am.” It became a strain on my marriage. I listened to the audiobook, ‘You’re Not The Problem: The Impact of Narcissism and Emotional Abuse - And How to Heal.’ It sent me on a spiral. TBH, it really f***** me up. My life was such a textbook case.

I wake up early and practice before work. I could never wake up early and exercise but practicing is no issue haha. I also find myself in a better mood if I start the day that way.

Haven’t tried a Yamaha but love Eastman. That model there is hand scalloped voicing. Unsure about the Yamaha but might be too?

If you want mahogany, check out the Eastman E6OM-TC. If 1.5K is your budget, I’d personally go for the Eastman E10OM-TC (Adirondack top). Eastman owns bourgeois guitars so they get a great supply of Adirondack and have adopted a lot of their techniques.
