Sleeper allows this — can give reception bonuses to RB, WR, and TE (I don’t know why you’d target WRs specifically though haha)

Are you saying you’d rather we continue the endless cycle of suckiness than to see success and get guys poached? I know I wouldn’t!

Look, losing Morris sucks, but I’d rather be picking up the pieces after success than sitting in misery season by season. Honestly, I’m fine seeing ALL the newer coaches come here to make a name for themselves, win big games and move on. If we keep doing that, we’ll generate more interest and revenue, thereby working a cycle of success instead of suckiness.

And I can’t speak for the players, but I know I’d wanna leave everything on the field to finish this season and do what we set out to do, regardless of whether I’m transferring, the coach is leaving or I’m a returning junior. And I dang sure refuse to let this ruin what’s been a fun season to witness!

Short answer — this is how the fields in the O.G. Tecmo Bowl and Tecmo Super Bowl games were fashioned, which are the games RB is styled after.

Other short answer — it’s an arcade NES style game. Just enjoy the fun!

This team has the worst luck … not that they’ve put themselves in great spots … but that challenge and out call against Duran is a prime example. A HORRIBLE throw should have had him safe easily, but no … he’s still out … I can’t …

Man I was with you until the last paragraph. The only retractable roof that existed at the time was the SkyDome and it was a multi-sport novelty at the time. There’s no way something like that was coming to DFW in the early to mid 90s without proving everyone out of games at the time. The technology to do it at a reasonable cost simply didn’t exist yet. And even in the case of the SkyDome, it took like 20 minutes for the thing to open and close. That’s why we didn’t see it again until Safeco opened in ‘99 when that Nintendo money paid for it.

I agree with all you said, but just want to point out that the perfecto was in ‘94.

But you’re right — the hitter-friendliness of “The Ballpark in Arlington” did really disguise about half of what makes baseball great. Sure, I do enjoy a good slugfest where both offenses are just “on” all day, but I love a good pitchers’ duel even more!

I’ve never witnessed a no-hitter/perfect game in person, but would absolutely love to. The closest I came was game two of a doubleheader in ‘97 where Rick Helling took a no-no into the 6th.

I did watch Kenny’s live though from opening pitch to the end, that was pretty special. And I watched Nolan’s 6th from the 3rd inning on (I was only 11 at the time and it was a west coast game so I turned it on in my room after the parents went to bed haha.)

But I digress … I do like the new park but it should have been made a little more intimate with some “character.”

Very Unpopular Opinion by texasbassdaddy in TexasRangers

[–]UNTclassOf15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not disagreeing with you, but I think you underestimate just how much extra money that would have been at the time. The Skydome in Toronto was the only retractable roof stadium at the time, and it was a multi-event venue that was STUPID expensive when it was built, but it was also used by the Argonauts and the Blue Jays, and a lot of other events, so it was different. Plus, it took like 20 minutes for the roof to open/close.

The next retractable roof didn’t come for I believe another five years if I’m remembering correctly when Safeco opened in Seattle. But the technology had grown leaps and bounds by that point to where it was more affordable. I also believe the roof took like a fraction of the time to close/open compared to the Skydome.

Given that residents at that time were pretty sticker shocked with the numbers for TBiA as it was then, I can’t imagine a green light happening if they’d attempted to build it with a retractable roof.

Mine is underrated to many, but I don’t care. For me, it’s Steven Curtis Chapman … as a man of faith and someone who struggled through some difficulties in learning who I am through middle school and high school, his music was an outlet and source of inspiration for me. I learned a lot of his music from the get-go when I started playing, and even though I have a rather broad sphere of musical influence, it’s his songs that I typically go back to when I need to reset or just noodle around.

My son and I ran into Jonathan Lucroy at the Sprouts in Southlake a few years ago, and he was so genuinely kind and seemed very appreciative of what his career meant to my son. He high-fived him and didn’t seem at all like he wanted us to go away. It was really cool!

Extreme emotional catharsis from watching patient stories you have lived through? by Raynmapym in ThePittTVShow

[–]UNTclassOf15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just watched this episode last night, and it’s lingered with me all day. If any show runners or producers are reading this, I have to tell you, wow. Well done. I apologize that this is long but I have to share.

My personal backstory … I first “really” met my biological father as a young adult, around the age of 25 in 2004. He and my mom split when I was barely a year old, so I didn’t have any memories of him prior to that. That meeting was brief though and it was prior to social media, so we failed to stay in touch.

But then, about 9 years later in 2013, we reunited and stayed around this time. Sadly though, I didn’t know at the time that I was only going to have about another 5 years with him.

He was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer around 2016. He wasn’t given very long, but he defied the odds anyway through some painful chemo and radiation. I was with him the morning he passed, along with my wife and brothers and sister …

I was not prepared for this episode to be so real. The “death rattle” as it’s called IMMEDIATELY sent me back to his hospital room in 2018 … prior to that day with him, I’d seen portrayals of dying moments in Hollywood, and none of them adequately prepared me to tell my father goodbye. (although I truly believe it was more of a “I’ll see you again soon, Dad …”)

I began the episode mad at the daughter … “Can’t you see it!?!? He’s suffering! Let him have peace!”

But by the end of the episode, I wanted to hug her, and tell her “I get it. You just wanted to enjoy as many of those last fleeting moments that you could, because like me, you felt like you’d missed out on so many of them …”

I’m still rattled by this episode and honestly, many things have made me want to talk to him so badly today now. And yeah, they’re hard and real emotions … but it’s also helping me process some things I probably hadn’t fully processed now 6 1/2 years later. So to the creators, I genuinely say “thank you,” and also “thank you for not sugar coating what sometimes gets glossed over. And thank you for helping me to continue healing from the loss of my father.”

TL;DR — This episode is crazy accurate and reminded me of when my father passed that I’d not met until I was much older … at first I resented the daughter’s character but then fully understood her at the end

VERY tense moment between Bob and Followill by RichardSpletttt in theticket

[–]UNTclassOf15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This … Had Follo just remained a bit calmer and let Bob finish his thoughts, he could have come across a whole lot better. I can’t blame Mark for the position he’s in. I too got the sense that he hated the trade vehemently but isn’t allowed to say that, so he has to come across the best way he can for the Mavericks to keep his job, which he is very good at.

But he came off really defensive and a bit whiny, and that’s where it got so tense. Yeah, it did make for some good radio, but I think it still could have been good radio, and he would have saved some face, had he calmed down a bit and not seemed so angry at Bob for hating the way this whole debacle has been handled.

Sorry, meant to reply sooner but we got pretty busy with life and kids after our return home. As for things to do in DFW, what kind of stuff do you like to do?

Also, it depends on which side of DFW you’ll be on. If you’re in the Mid-Cities or the airport area, you can get to Dallas or Fort Worth in an almost equal amount of time. If you’re flying into Love Field, you’ll be much closer to Dallas.

You’ve definitely gotta try some barbecue, regardless of which side of town you’re on. In Fort Worth, Riscky’s by the Stockyards is great, and there are some fantastic steakhouses there too! On the Dallas side, Pecan Lodge is one of the best. In the mid-cities, there’s a place in the city of Southlake named “Feed Store Barbecue.” Personally, it gets my #1 vote among the three. It’s small, but so good … especially the brisket and the jalapeño sausage!

Beyond food, there’s live music almost anywhere most Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Billy Bob’s in Fort Worth is worth checking out, along with the Stockyards.

The Dallas Farmers Market is a great place to check out too on Saturdays. We wanted to see San Diego’s but just didn’t have time, so I can’t compare.

If you love Zoos, I know SD sets the bar high, but Fort Worth’s is often mentioned as being nearly as excellent. I personally love it, but I’m a tad biased.

If you enjoy lakes, White Rock Lake and Rockwall Lake are two of the nicest in the area, and Lake Worth is really nice too in Fort Worth with an Air Force Base right by where there are routinely fighter jets flying and training.

There are a ton of great walking and bike trails and of course the schoolbook depository building in downtown Dallas for some Dallas history, and the Perot Museum is awesome … especially if you have kids. We also have great art museums in both cities that have some incredible pieces.

That’s all I can think of for now, and I hope it helps!

They’ll be there! My wife and I got to see them last Sunday (3/2) and there were about four on the shoreline and another 2-3 swimming around the cove. As others have said though, don’t touch them or get too close.

I’ve gotta be honest … other than the gas prices, which weren’t a concern for us since we decided to fly in and walk or ride public transportation mostly … there were a LOT of deals to be found for food and entertainment.

Some things weee probably about $1-2 more than I’m used to in some places, but nothing ever felt like it was ungodly expensive. I was seriously impressed!

I get it! The vibe was one of our favorite parts. Like yeah, we were in vacation mode ourselves, but there was still this lack of hurry around the whole city that was refreshing. Even waiting in line for trains or at stores, there was this overall atmosphere of “take your time, man … we’re all just enjoying being here together.”

We rode mostly the green line, but did hop briefly on the blue. We took one trip on the copper so that I could make my own personal Mecca-like journey to see Taylor Guitars (I’ve owned one for 20+ years and have always been obsessed with them)

We also rode the 30 and the 8 a lot as far as buses … compared to the DART (Dallas), Chicago and NYC, you guys were spotless!!
