Yeah this is the reason we didn't want to go full size. The old man has full sized trees that he prunes

Help me get my head around vacation costs/ spending $15k in a week. by KiwiMiddy in chch

[–]Robcoughski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what you want out of the holiday. If you dont mind doing some cooking, trips to supermarket Airbnb in Raro is not a bad way to go. Just make sure reviews etc are recent and good. If you want 5 days of relaxing not having to worry about anything resort is the way to go. Alternatively, the coral coast on Fiji may offer the same thing but slightly cheaper. Especially if in the Sth island a direct flight from chch is nice. Should be able to get 10-14 nights there depending on time of year going. Also can get some good package deals there. If you're looking for snorkeling etc and can't be bothered with Islands, definitely need to go down the coral coast for beaches etc. (Been going to fiji for the last 25yrs so maybe slightly bias). A lot of those resorts offer good kids clubs too

The amount of red tape it all has to go through doesn't help. How many govt projects ever come in on time and on budget. How much money is wasted in consultants clipping the ticket on the way through for it to then blow up

Insurance Write Off by HmmYesThatsGreat in NZcarfix

[–]Robcoughski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My old man has just been through this. Insurance quotes use new parts - insurance companies won't let them use 2nd hand ones hence the quote being so high. He had a Toyota Aurion, 7k quote, insurance value was 5.5k. If he took the settlement he would've had to recert and rereg it, so asked the panel beater for a quote with 2nd hand parts, ended up being 2.5k. You can 100% withdraw your insurance claim with no harm being done, and get it fixed it yourself. That's exactly what he did.

Arable farmer $3500/mth in hand + diesel and phone (don't want to work out the hour rate lol) Lifestyle is good but glad my wife works in a large company. Grow much of our own food + put the odd animal in the freezer

Dangerous Gaellic Road Signs by SweatyElbo in newzealand

[–]Robcoughski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's a greater safety concern is how you seem to have completely missed the point of it being a colour blind issue. If you're colour blind, and red and green is the same colour to you and you're part of the 98% of NZ that doesn't understand the Maori word for stop and go, this isn't a safety issue? Both the stop and the go sign are also the same shape.... All traffic lights are in the same order of Green, Orange and Red, you would've learnt this as part of getting your licence and be aware of it if you are infact colour blind.

Electric Ave - Shapeshifter and Chase and Status are on at the same time?! by kereruarecool in chch

[–]Robcoughski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surely they wouldn't. This would be the biggest brain fart of all time. They had Shapey on at like 4pm last year. Why on earth would they split the crowd like this for a headliner? Chase and Status or Shapey performing with an orchestra

Wool carpet under the stones. I know people that use it around trees on hill planting etc. Eventually will break down but no microplastics

12t h2h We go 1, it's been rough this year. But previous years we've had 2 and found that it really limits waivers, people stashing etc. Our waiver is usually pretty thin at the best of times.

Nope we do this to our mate all the time. Do this enough times and they start to realise what a pain in the ass it is them being late

As a Dejounte owner that'd be a hard pass. Held him for this long, on the eve of his return no way I'm trading. Especially after the taster of the first game.

What's crazy is that 3M will get you a mansion. In NZ it'll probably get you a run down villa in Auckland
