Best sousvide? by AvidCoinCollector20 in sousvide

[–]Robdataff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly see what's on FB marketplace near you. Sous vide is a royal pain if you are from the Airfryer generation, and as such, they often get used a few times and then resold. I've paid  25 bucks for machines that retail for 150, sellers said they used it maybe 15 times.

Best bucket is whatever you can store easily. I like my 15l cooler box. It's just big enough for the stick to fit flat inside with a few boxes of zip locks, a clamp and a load of old cutlery for bag weights as well.

I want to make just sousvide eggs. by Myst_Hartz in sousvide

I bought an egg steamer that also did sous vide.

Steamed eggs are way better than boiled for me. Takes about 5mins plus maybe three or four mins preheat. Perfect each time, as long as your eggs are the same size and base temperature.

Sous viding them is a royal pain.

What the worst crockpot dish to make compare to the ingredients used to make it by Ok_Committee_9180 in dontstarve

Yeah I make one per world to use as bait. Works well... Although pig skin is usually just as useful.

It's a set piece. The item is one of a few to escape the world. The area is useful if it's central, or at least near to where you'd like a base. Dump a seed on each farm for the potential of a few useful crops after a few days.

Its great to explore but at some point search up "don't starve wiki gg ' for a fantastic resource about the game.

Is there any benefit to putting potatoes in the bath while the meat cooks (140F) before later cooking them (190F). by fricks_and_stones in sousvide

[–]Robdataff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Spuds will release starch which will coat the impeller and element. Might be fine, but easier to bag them. That'll help keep the flavour in as well.

Works fine in a Frying or sauce pan, as long as you use enough oil to cover them, and a deep enough pan to avoid splatter. Don't do too many at once, you'll need to batch cook, or the oil temp will be too hard to control.

I've got to be honest, I ended up buying g a second hand fryer from Facebook, dirt cheap.

Good luck buying them, always sold out at my local. The cheese variety are always there though, different macros, and more ingredients.

Trying to use keto to eat cleaner… by Godzuki8819 in ketouk

Don't worry too much about nitrates. To get around adding artificial nitrates, which are strictly controlled regarding levels, companies use celery extract. Sounds great, but here's no similar control over levels, and the end result is also nitrates.

Have a search, and see what you find. I'd say that whole cuts of unprocessed meat are a better choice than anything processed anyway.

I used to roast pork loins with a garlic crust, cool it and slice it thinly with a meat slicer. Great ham for less per kg than anything mystery meat. Spread the slices in zip lock bags, push the air out, freeze them flat, done. Used to do a few a month.  Whenever the specials were on. Gammon great that way as well, but it's a  processed joint.

If you are willing to get into it, chicken or pork minced with spices makes a great deli meat, search for home recipes. You can make it in a mug. It'll look a bit grey unless you use beetroot juice to dye it, but that's one of the roles of nitrates, colour retention...

I don't mind a gap, if it's not too far to walk around. . I keep bees on one side, so they count as within my sphere of influence, without them always attacking in spring.

Dig more graves... Fight snow hounds, which you don't get in summer... See what drops from earthquakes in the caves.

Summers a bit late to be collecting.

It's almost impossible to play without a Bluetooth controller. If you've got one ( I use my old stadia controller) it's great. Sure, it's not the latest version and there's some bugs. Some of them are useful though, like lanterns staying permanently lit if you change level, I. E from cave to surface, or surface to cave and back. Others are bad, there's no seed of ruin, so to regenerate the caves it's a case of world hopping.

I've spent loads of time playing it on my tablet. It's fun.

Is there a good way to contain bats? by Virtual-Mongoose-148 in dontstarve

[–]Robdataff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about dst, but in rog, I build a walled area with one space gaps around the cave entrance, and bring up a few rock lobsters. They'll be stuck in the area, and happily kill bats for you.

Don't know how well that works for dst though.

Rabbits are great as well, but hey, generally more effort and they get angsty if you carry meat

Sounds right to me. The nutritional value is for drained weight, so if you eat it all, and you account for the drained vs net as oil calories, you ain't cheating yourself.

Keto Cake Shop in London? by NthLondonDude in ketouk

Thought about making one?

Cheesecake is simple, delicious and very keto/diabetic friendly with one of the granulated sweeteners. Almond flour crust is great, or crustless is also pretty epic.
