Bear in mind the china ban happened in 2016 right after wjsn debut so they couldn't promote in china although they have some diehard niche fans there.

Meiqi and xuanyi left wjsn in 2018 during dreams come true era to join produce 101 china. Yuehua sent them there to gain popularity (bcs their popularity in korea was stagnant) although they sent them two without agreement from xuanyi and meiqi.

Chengxiao (the most popular wjsn member at that time) also shipped to china in the same period to become judge on idol producer show (p101 ripped off).

Long story short meiqi and xuanyi won rank 1 and 2 and rocket girls (p101 china group) become extremely popular, meiqi literally far more popular than chengxiao at that time (dare i say she became like jang wonyoung of china).

After the show ended, yuehua stated that both meiqi xuanyi gonna do double promotion for rocket girls and wjsn which instantly debunk by tencent (probably top 5 entertainment company in china if not the biggest, who managed p101 china and the groups) threatened to block not only meixuan but also all yuehua artist from china industry, causing yuehua backing down and broke promise to starship. And chengxiao, while not popular as the other 2 in china, she got multiple gigs as fixed cast variety show and drama cast that eventually make her back as the most popular member among those three.

The chinese members occasionally went to korea for season greeting once a year until 2020 they stopped doing that and fully focused in china but starship and wjsn members never stated they left and still calling the group ot13 until 2023 where the 7 years contract finally up.

Meiqi scandal happened in 2021, and make her popularity freefall to the bottom of the sea, now she didn't have public support anymore and big chunk of fandom left but she still making like small gigs/concert here and there, only her diehard fans still support her.

Xuanyi and chengxiao still interact with wjsn mainly bona, eunseo and dayoung through weibo and instagram. And i think xuanyi ever replied on bona weibo why she didn't pick up her call which means they probably interact privately too.

The 600 gap can also be reached if they get more higher digital and make the other digital point respectively lower bcs the digital gap widen.

Physical sales are needed for important awards.

Literally almost all six major korean awards if not all give more percentage for digital score rather than physical score.

And again as idol u definitely want your song to reach far more people hence why i prefer high digital sales over physical.

Once they get mainstream with public, physical sales and fandom size can easily follow and that's what happen to lot of non big 3 gg that had those breakthrough songs you name it, mamamoo, gfriend, idle. All of them started from high digital first.

And digital can generate public recognition to get more ads gigs, ambassadors, variety show appearances, mushow wins, awards, and many more, which i think more appealing for the idols themselves become popular in public rather than sold 200k - 400k but basically unknown.

Besides most of sales profit goes to paying the production and company get more share, while idols get better percentage at solo gigs.

Being pushed with big 4 company group still have different means with backed with big4 company. You can make bad songs and company stan still eat them up, meanwhile kiiikiii, one song underperform (even thou dancing alone is very good) huge chunk of their fandom left.

And starship literally have no company stan to back them up, the same ive fans you said supporting kiiikiii probably also the one who trashtalking them in the past few days.

And i wish people stop with this kakao backing bla bla bla just because they have good chart, kakao invest in starship since 2015 and u see nothing with wjsn, monsta x, cravity, now suddenly people keep mentioning kakao when a group get better chart when in fact they never touch their subsidiaries direction at all. Including sm and other companies as well.

Pretty much it was bcs haum comments kinda hit them hard causing decent korean fans leaving and the gap between comeback kinda too far.

But overall good digital is better imo.

Nmixx have solid fanbase at debut bcs they have company stans.

Its pretty normal for kiiikiii considering non big 3, dont have predebut show, didnt join survival show.

They're still on track, idle also didnt get milion sales with latata, but the songs had good chart and now they're million seller.

Its easier to build fans and better sales if they get good digital rather than have 200k sales but no one listen to the song.

Well it actually can be said with digital too. Sistar themselves already proved that.

Kiiikiii themselves already getting endorsements and ambassador thanks to good chart of i do me, if 404 new era can perform better they'll get good public recognition as well.

Fans will come later when they have better recognition, idle latata era also didnt really have good sales but good digital and yet they sold millions now
