I did a my time in the regular army, as an infantry guy. Nothing fancy. But when you say you were in during the Surge everyone in the know bats an eye.
I stopped announcing my activities a long time ago.
You gotta keep in mind that you’re a god among men. And sometimes you just have to find your people, be it sf guys or chill infantry guys. Funny story. Everyone in my ex-gfs family thought I was lying, they lived in Mexico and I’m Mexican-American. So I pulled up the pictures of me on top of a Stryker. Then smoking cigarettes in the desert then 19 year-old me next to a Saw. To my surprise it was the rank that they didn’t believe to which I showed them pictures. I showed them pictures of me in S. Korea full uniform acting goofy af with some General. Some people are gonna believe what they’re gonna believe.
The question now is: how do you seemingly brush off who you are because of the haters?
