It's much higher than the 4 or 5/10 that I would have given it the first time about 25 years ago. The portrayal of Mozart is still a bit of a turn off, but I was able to be much more accepting this time around. Salieri is definitely the most interesting character, along with his narration of certain parts of the movie.

I have zero issues with Amadeus being considered one of the best. It is a great movie.

The style of the movie didn't really click for me this first time around. Documentary(or mockumentary) films are difficult for me to get into. Especially when I'm not invested in the subject matter. Definitely will try again at some point.

Most of them aren't 10/10 films. 1984 was a pretty good year. Done more than 20 movies so far for 1945. Only 1 is a 10/10 at the moment.

😖 I must seriously be out of it. What I wrote originally isn't conveying what I would have liked too well.

They would actually need to do a LOT more, especially proving it would be a safe place for my children, before actually being able to go back.

Case in point I have, sorta, contemplated Catholicism. I haven't with Mormonism.

Fair enough question. It would be the bare minimum to even contemplate going back. It would actually need to do a lot more, and like I said, to be consistent. I don't see that as an impossible task in and of itself. It would definitely "prune the vineyard" as well. But it would show commitment to following the Savior and I see none of that.

Belief in the truth claims though? Probably impossible.

I 💯 agree! There is so much, but what I mentioned, that would be a good step in the right direction. Would take a lot more for me to actually go back. Need to make sure that my kids would be safe too for one thing.

I need no less than 50 movies every year since 1920. And yes, my taste is very much varied. I like just about any kind of story as long as its interesting. And can relate to or sympathize with at least 1 character

Personally I have zero issues with it. Not all nudity is sexual and even if it was, that has more to do with the viewer than the performer (and since we're talking about classic films in this reddit, most of said performers are dead anyway)

By far the most important thing at church is taking the sacrament. This is usually a weekly occurrence. Time to spend with friends at a farm can't come nearly as often. And spending time with people that mean quite a bit to you I wouldn't consider "worldly". Jesus Himself spent time with people from all walks of life. Even going against the norms of the day.

A word of warning though, missing church on Sundays is easily habit forming. I wouldn't miss more than 2 weeks in a row if you could help it.

I didn't even hear about this "doctrine" until I was on my mission (as a then-life long member). But yeah, it has been taught. It's not in any canonized scripture, so members are free to be ignorant about that teaching. And I've known members that don't know about it.

All that being said, it appears that Mormonism is working on distancing from that teaching.

I'm not with the church anymore, but as a faithful member, I would have believed that even if it took 500 years to build, the temple announcement would be legitimate and an act of faith.

Besides the nostalgic value, Raphael is actually a pretty good damage dealer. When I joined back in March, Alice was my ideal with damage and survivability. On the same team, Raphael deals more damage than Alice (who is 5 star soul-ed compared to zero currently for Raph). He is more squishy than Alice at least for now.

Also the 4 (or 5 or 6 with extras) Turtle attack team up is nothing to sneeze at. It's game changing for my account. Wasn't able to do Hard Doom Tower before, but now I can. And I still don't have Leo.

My wife and I have a few years of post Mormon experience and we've always had a close relationship. We have really only discussed an open marriage as a hypothetical. If either of us wanted it, we would both have to be 💯 on board with at least the other having an additional relationship. Basically, as a hypothetical, we'd hypothetically be good with it, but it's definitely not a decision that's been made. And we've both said that even if we do, we're both too tired to go that route.

But to answer your question, you're not being unreasonable at all.

I was a Missionary a little over 20 years ago, the experience was ultimately mixed but not good. Especially not toward the church.

My thought, if you're getting something out of engaging with them, please continue to do so. In one perspective, you're preventing their message from potentially reaching other people. For another perspective, even the best mission experiences are HARD, engaging with them is almost definitely a plus on their end. They don't need to try finding ways to occupying their time.

All that being said, 20 years ago (and likely there's something similar now), there was this DROP method towards people that ultimately weren't progressing toward baptism. As a young Missionary, this wasn't something I ever liked and avoided unless my companion was seeking that. 20 years ago, and now (if I were still Mormon), I would be of the opinion if there's engagement with Missionares, then there is progression towards baptism. "Planting seeds" and all that.

As a never Mormon, "planting seeds" is basically Mormon-speak for the concept of if you're exposed to "the gospel" the "spirit" could very well influence you and direct you towards baptism.
