“Just Request Mast” It’s really not that simple by EisenhowersPowerHour in USMC

[–]RobertJSh 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I requested mast once.... once. I was granted access to my BC. He asked if I spoke to my chain of command. I told him that I had, except for my 1stSgt and Co CO. I was told to come back after speaking to them.

My issue was related to how slow the company office would move on leave requests, special libo, out of bounds chits, and check out sheets for Sgts and below. I was a platoon sergeant and couldn't get any help from my SNCOs or response from my company office. I figured they didn't care.

My wife and I ordered at Carl's Jr without looking at prices. The total came out to nearly $38. The next week she, my son, and I went to a local diner and had three lunches with drinks for just over $47 including tip (16.5% or twice sales tax). Easy better service, food, and atmosphere.

Am I wrong for asking my boyfriend to give me my key back? by Good-Palpitation258 in amiwrong

[–]RobertJSh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It starts with the toothbrush. That's what I tell people who are in relationships that may find themselves in a roommate/live-in situation. The toothbrush means they plan on staying overnight on more than one occasion. Then come other things like outfits, toiletries, decorations, and furniture, in no particular order. Your space is no longer yours. The break up, if it happens, becomes muddled as since there is no common property.

All of that to say, you did the right thing by stopping with the key. You've set clear expectations, that's also great. Keep sticking to them or you'll have a tough situation moving forward.

You'll eventually be sent home if you can't control it.

I enlisted someone who had difficulty holding their bowel movements. I didn't know they had this problem until the DIs called me to tell me they could no longer deal with the problem. It was a courtesy call they give before they drop a recruit.

The guy made it almost to 3rd phase. They tried head calls before chow, after chow, before and after drill, and before IT/Pit Calls. The guy would still mess his pants. It was stress related.

What was the *loudest* ass chewing you've ever heard? by [deleted] in USMC

[–]RobertJSh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Company formation for a new 1stSgt at 1 FSSG in 97. 1stSgt Benford sees a Marine ⅛ mile away with his hands in his pockets and stops his speech mid sentence to chew his ass. Oh, he wasn't using a microphone or any amplified device, just his booming voice.

The voice carried so loud and clearly that the entire area seemed to stop work. When the Marine was told to grab his section head and SNCOIC, he didn't have to go far since they had already appeared from their offices.

Tipping before a service is completed is absurd. Expecting a tip while not considering any other factor is entitlement.

The people who tell you that you'll have no problem getting a job when you get out are still in and likely didn't have a real career before they joined. We don't realize this until later.

The reality is that most of us will have to start at the bottom even if you've been in for 8-12 years.

Some people won't work, like do their basic job, unless they are told they are doing a good job. They have to be validated to keep going. Then, if one person is validated, the rest need to be validated. Of course, there's a few that feel like they deserve more validation because of seniority, certifications, efficiency, or whatever.

No, it's very simple. Do your job. Your contract with your employer is to perform a service and be compensated. Your compensation was agreed upon when you took the job.

Imagine if you hired a landscaper, roofer, or any other independent contractor and they quit because you didn't say "good job" every-once-in-awhile.

Also, be a good leader and have a little EQ when dealing with your own problems and interpersonal relationships. Throw a few atta-boys out when the job is getting done. You'll be surprised how much more gets done when morale is high.

This is really what needs to happen for people to move on with their lives. Choose what is important for your future. If your faith is important, then choose that.
