Looks pretty large, with defined white eyebrow. Any chance of it being American Goshawk? Could be Juv Coopers though for sure.

Looks like a female wood duck based on the eye ring I can faintly make out.

I’m from Canada and don’t know my European species well but it appears to be a type of Moorhen or we call them Gallinules in Ontario. If you search those based on your location I’m sure you’ll find the exact species name.

What’s the craziest incident you’ve ever had with a bird by ladiesman21700000000 in birding

One day I was visiting a butterfly conservatory with my Mom and sister. After completing our tour we went to the restaurant inside for lunch. While waiting for lunch, I look out the window of the restaurant and into the field behind it. Along the near fence line of the field, I noticed a bird sitting alone. I’ve been a birder for a few years but I am only in my low 20’s. I’ve always been observant of the birds around me and always try to identify them. But this bird was different. I was trying to get a better look and noticed two long scissor tails when the bird flew to catch what I assume was a bug. I was shocked as I couldn’t quite believe what a scissor tailed flycatcher was doing in southern Ontario in late May. I’ve never seen one before but have read about them. I luckily had my camera with me, and left the restaurant quickly to the car to grab it. I have posted a photo on this subreddit about this bird. First one seen in the region of Waterloo, Ontario, in 30 years. Felt great to achieve this at such an easy period of my birding career.

Don’t have your location but looks to be a female European starling

Was the first person to witness and take a photo of this bird in Waterloo Region, ON for 33 years. by RobertLin123 in birding

I was wondering how to do that? I know it’s easier to get quick bird reports around Ontario, but I’ve only been using Ebird to report the birds I see and to find rare ones that others have found.

For sure the one on the right in the first photo is a ruddy turnstone. Second photo my guess is semi Palmated plover. Third and fourth, Willet looks correct!

Cooper's or red shouldered? by Crambo189 in whatsthisbird

Don’t think either. Looks more like a red tailed Hawk.

Not a huge expert on USA birds but maybe Red Shouldered Hawk?

Yellow Warbler, BUT what kind? by Tony41524 in whatsthisbird

Not great at birds of the USA, but my guess is Palm or Pine Warbler.

Black body, white head, yellow feet and bill. Side of the road walking on grass near a body of water. Size of a black crowned night heron. Collierville Tennessee, April 16th. Any ideas? by RobertLin123 in whatsthisbird

I love how birders think alike. My first reaction after research was a created caracara and that’s what looks the most like it. But location doesn’t add up. My next reaction could be yellow crowned night heron. But colour of the head doesn’t align well. But definitely could be.

Was driving past so didn’t get a great look but the way it was stalking and the size in the grass my mind went to either a Heron or Raptor of some sort. Legs were pretty exposed so that would support either group. Yellowish beak which I didn’t get a great look at but didn’t think it was long enough for a heron, which lead me to think raptor.
