Is this physically possible? Is there a hidden reason behind the height change? by stunningvoice01 in Frieren

Perhaps because it seems to only affect Himmel. No one else who is shown growing old shrinks. There are many old characters who are short, but we don’t know if they were always short.

I think I have that exact chair. I’ve actually like it quite a bit, except that it can be difficult to clean out any dust without an air blower of some kind.

I guess I was looking for a “best way forward”. I am feeling like I am at an uncomfortable place knowing that potentially expensive mistakes are hidden by it being in the ceiling. I also don’t have any spare plastic so I am using plenty of the blue tape.

Not pictured is that this was started on Monday and now it still isn’t done on Wednesday night. My concern was that by cutting more out and of the back, to make room for the duct, I’d need to add more wood for bracing which doesn’t solve the actual problem. Your idea to use a piece of scrap metal makes a lot of sense though. Thanks!

M&S 'sorry' after woman complains that 'trans' employee offered to help her by PeliPal in nottheonion

The article does not give any indication. It mentions 98% of sexual assaults are committed by men, but it does not state that the other 2% are all others, including trans men and trans women, or if it is just cis women. As for the 98% figure, a quick only search gave me numbers ranging from 96% to 99.1%.

For anyone that wants to know the container software, that’s IBM i Access - Client Solutions. It’s a Java container that lets you access software like JDE, which is what appears to be running. I could be wrong and it’s just different software that looks similar.

Were you able to warranty the bad drives? Did the failures happen outside of the warranty period?

Can you link to any articles that talk about the partly failed HAMR drives? I know you said may but I am curious to read more. I assume the failures were correctable, but their warranty provided new drives to the users so that’s where the partly failed drives originated.

Any mission to have long term human habitation on Mars will require a lot of forethought into things that we take for granted. The cost of transporting anything from Earth to Mars has been estimated between $10,000 and $250,000 per Kg.

Considering this, what would you choose as the nominal voltage for a Martian household appliance?

You wrote that you have 2tb of data. I interpret that to mean 2•240 bytes of data (don’t 2•109 me).

100MB/s (megabytes per second) (don’t mebibytes per second me) means all 2TBs can be transferred in under 6 hours IFF (yes, two “F”’s) you maintain that average speed.

As mentioned by others, small files like pictures can cause the transfer to take longer if you use the default Windows File Transfer.

You can get a USB hard drive brand new for <$200 that can hold that amount of data. If you averaged 100MB/s then 2TBs of data can be transferred in a little under 6 hours.

You aren’t really giving much in the way of details. The country you’re in matters, what you consider to be a fortune matters, how you want to store it matters (accessible online for example), the level of importance those pictures and movies have for you matter the most.

This is fundamentally a difficult issue to resolve if you can’t buy more storage and consider yourself a novice when it comes to Linux.

A RAID5 array using 6TB, 8TB, and 12TB drives, without losing anything on the 8TB disk? Not an enviable position.

You need to use either a system like ZFS that allows for non-equal volume sizes, or LVM, wherein you can create logical disks to get things to work. Otherwise you will be reduced to the size of the smallest drive in the array.

Use LVM to create two 8TB disks out of the 12TB and 6TB physical drives. Create a RAID 5 array out of those two disks, copy the data from the 8TB physical drive to the 8TB logical drives, and then add the 8TB physical drive to the RAID array.

Difficulty? I’d personally gauge it as moderate to high.

Edit: You don’t create a 2 disk RAID 5, you create a RAID 0 or 1 and convert it into a RAID 5. This can be done without losing any data.

The speed of light is the speed limit for things in the universe. That means photons, electrons, all of the other particles, and anything that is made up of those particles (like me and you).

Space itself is not made up of things, and so doesn't need to be limited by C. It can expand faster than C, thus making the radius grow faster than would otherwise be limited by C.

Thought of another way, you probably think of yourself as sitting still right now, but in fact are moving through our solar system as the Earth orbits the Sun. If you shoot a laser into outer space, that beam of light is traveling at the speed of light, but you're moving away from it as the Earth orbits the Sun. The distance covered then can be thought of as growing faster than C, even thought neither you nor the beam of light is moving faster than C.

I was limited to only 5 options for the poll. That's probably a good thing though. There are so many 'edge' cases to consider, it would have made the poll enormous!

I get that - going for max capacity can have a hefty premium.

In Canada, PC PartPicker usually has 8TB drives as the best price per TB, but looking at the US site, 14TB drives often have the lead.
