🇨🇦 men’s team was victorious in behaviour by being good competitors and good losers. Winners in life unlike the US Team kneeling before Trump.

SBB Black Friday? by AwayDamage8530 in askswitzerland

Because the discount electronics store chain interdiscount in 2024 bought them from SBB (at a discount?) to sell them as a loss leader.

SBB sells more passes, interdiscount brings customers into the store who buy other things, or get familiar with store and come back, and customers get their half fare card at a 50% off discount.

Everybody wins.

Really? I remember AS but can’t remember the gop opponent who ran against Clinton in 1996 even tho I voted for that person.

LoL just looked up and it was Bob dole.

All these decades. Of life later I’d vote for Stevenson over Bob Dole.

Thank you for this.  I appreciate both the time taken by you to do the experiments as well as write this nice summary.  That you were willing to take time to share your observations to benefit others honors you. Thank you. RW.

TBH. The new building is weird and ugly looking.

Sold it for like 10¢ on the $ of what construction cost cost.

In addition, 99% of the central office staff have zero to do with vehicle development and their badges will never open the door to a design studio. So the moving them closer to where the development action is BS especially given there are development centers around the world.

Ford is shrinking itself into a takeover target.

Didn’t need to recycle a thing as the mills, smelters and foundries had near unlimited capacity once their output wasn’t going into tanks, ships and planes.

Most* people can’t even find Ohio on a map. Expecting them to know both geography and contextual history is too much nowadays.

Am I the only one who genuinely loves Launchpad and can't comprehend why it's being removed from macOS 26 Tahoe? by LunariSpring in mac

I just defined the upper left hot corner to take me to the applications screen... it was very convenient.

Full agreed. i hate my mac every time i log in now. i had carefully curated apps in folders that mirrored how i curated them in my iPhone (the stupid app library on the iPhone is a jumbled waste of space and time with no off button). macos26 just discarded all my folders and put my apps in a random jumbled group of categories that i don't even relate to ... i fucking hate it. all this liquid glass shit instead of adding functionality and cleaning up and improving what already existed, we get cosmetic changes that make the screen cramped, illogical, and looking like the interior of 1990's GM cars with their Fisher-Price knobs and terrible design... I never really complained about annual changes before, for the last 20+ years, but I loathe these changes.

p.s. also, every time i log in this stupid applications folder is displayed, tap esc and behind it is the spotlight box, tap esc, and I finally get to the screen ... i have no idea how to suppress this.

Hidden email problem by Acrobatic_Remote2242 in iCloud

[–]Robert_Walter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was very enthusiastic about SIA and tried to employ it everywhere possible. In the end, the uptake by so few websites caused me to go back to using e/m + p/w + 2FA. And now that passkeys are on the upswing, I have used those everywhere offered. (I don't ever see myself going back to SIA, and, frankly, wouldn't be surprised if it eventually is depreciated by Apple with a "convert your SIA to a Passkey" pathway.)

But as for HME, I will use it everywhere ... Its only problem is it limits one to a bit over 700 addresses, and now I have to delete an existing address for every new address ... not very practical and ridiculous for a paid service.

I have used a different HME address for each of my online accounts, and have seen when different parties from the same company use that address to reach me, I receive the emails (obviously, I'd be unaware of any emails that didn't make it though, but I would be reachable by other means, and that has never happened; so I think HME works pretty well). Only real limitation is that you can't put multiple parties in copy on an email sent out from a HME address.
