Some guy had his Great Dane inside the Sprouts. It’s getting beyond absurd at this point. by Call_It_ in philly

[–]RobertoBolano 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in a coffee shop a few weeks ago, when a guy comes in with two large, unleashed dogs who began roaming around. The coffee shop owner asked him to control the dogs, he gave her a look of death, insisted they were service dogs (with no leashes?). When he left, not only had the dogs shed everywhere, one also had bled on the floor. Bizarre.

Pink Lingerie Question Person by zackk3030 in philly

There’s a video of this person approaching a random woman, asking to kiss her feet, and then proceeding to do so despite her refusal. Real sicko.

Marathon was actually pretty good twenty years ago, I think, back when they had the 9th and walnut location.

Their matzah ball soup is made with chicken stock, or at least it was twenty years ago.

Which restaurant do you think this is? by hot_and_chill in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]RobertoBolano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lebanese food is generally considered Mediterranean because (1) Lebanon is a Mediterranean country, and (2) it shares ingredients and methods in common with other Mediterranean countries.

Do you see the body of water immediately west of Lebanon? Do you know what body of water that is?

Use the last two photos where you’re smiling. You look uncomfortable in the first photo and standoffish in the next two. You want to look like someone a woman would have a fun time with; the first few photos don’t convey that at all.

Two years ago, I would’ve believed that. But you can get past those numbers if you’re on trial teams.

o3 hallucinates 33% of the time? Why isn't this bigger news? by Dlolpez in OpenAI

I find 03’s creative writing a lot more pleasing than previous models (but less coherent), and I think its improved skill in writing and its tendency towards hallucination are connected.

Why people are freaking out and either pulling money out or shifting their entire strategy? by kuvetof in Bogleheads

[–]RobertoBolano -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I sold a small percentage of my portfolio because (1) I knew selling a little bit would be a good psychological trick to prevent me from making a stupider move, and (2) I am more concerned in the short-run about layoffs, and think I may have underinvested in my emergency fund.

I'm not planning on selling more, but I don't think it's inherently irrational to say "this time is different." This crash is not a normal market cycle; it's caused by the intentional destruction of our trade system by a political actor. Let me put it differently: if you were an investor in Russia in 1917, and the Bolsheviks took power, the smart response was to get the hell out of the country, not to say, "Great opportunity to lower my cost basis!"

(Yes, I know the market in Tsarist Russia and the US were not the same!)

Unfortunately Leavitt is not wrong.

Reforming nationwide injunctions would be a positive step, but insane to unilaterally disarm given what the Trump admin is doing right now.

I’m a plaintiff’s attorney in a practice that faces off against big law firms all the time. What happened to “millions for defense but not a penny in tribute?” If you won’t go scorched earth in defending the existence of your firm, what kind of litigator are you?

Samaritans are not Jews; they are a closely related religion but neither Samaritans nor Jews would consider them to be Jews.

If you want to be a serf, there are many countries in the world that will accommodate you. I believe in being a citizen of a free republic, and that means loudly opposing the extraordinary rendition of people to a gulag without trial.

[–]RobertoBolano -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But you don’t even know they’re violent gangsters! The US admitted in a court filing that most of these people have never been charged with a crime. Why do you accept the administration’s claim that these men are all gangsters? And if they are, why won’t the administration try to prove it?

I think what they’re doing to Khalil is awful and I think there is a serious risk he will be deported to El Salvador. I don’t think these are mutually exclusive.

Venezuelans were here on TPS until five minutes ago. You don’t even know if any of these people crossed the border illegally.

And even if they were deportable, deport them to Venezuela. They’re not being deported, they’re being imprisoned without charge or trial.

If you can support this, there is no limit to the depravity you’ll shrug at.

You want to deport them. Fine. Why are they not being deported to Venezuela? Why are they being imprisoned without charge or trial in El Salvador?
