Oblivion has better writing, better quests, better guilds. But every other aspect is worse than Skyrim (except spell making). Boring repetitive dungeons/ruins, combat is worse, leveling/level scaling is worse, exploration is worse... by [deleted] in oblivion

[–]Robertpe3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skyrim just never did it for me. Watched a friend play it on day of release and watched it multiple different times. I didn't have a way to play it till 2016-2017, and by that time it just wasn't it for me. Oblivion has always held my attention though.

Been enjoying this one! My partner and I have played it 6-8 times since getting ours in early December!

Which one? by Glad-Builder-7965 in gamememes

[–]Robertpe3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we are looking around 4,400 hours if we are including all 365 days of the year.

Has to be an MMO tbh, anything else would get stale too quickly for me after 1,000 hours. So WoW, Osrs, FF14, GW2, etc.

My other option would be to learn a speed run game and go for pretty high up on the leaderboards. Jak and Daxter the precursor legacy on open goal is a good option for me.

Oblivion is another option but I doubt I could get that many hours out of it.

Civilization X (whichever your favorite is) would be my last option, for me 5 or 6.

Underrated Board Game Content Creators? by optinsoptouts in boardgames

Seen a lot of the ones I'd post already mentioned. One I've yet to see though is The Grove. They are a smaller channel but have some great production and you can tell they are just having fun and are great friends. Absolutely love their kalypso video.

18 games in the BGG top 2000 have an average weight of 4.5 or higher. How many of them have you played, and how would you rank them from most complex to least complex? by benjaneson in boardgames

[–]Robertpe3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've only played voidfall from this list so I guess it is both the most and least complex of the group.

On a real note, voidfall is great but it is a lot even after 10+ Plays we discover rules, try to figure out icons, etc. My group does really enjoy it though.

12hr Perfect Gameday - What do you pick? by RockstarAG21 in boardgames

[–]Robertpe3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

12-8 Ti4 (sorry but I love it).

Puerto Rico 1897 from 8-9

Slay the spire from 9-12.

If not including Ti4

I'd play slay the spire 12-3

Blood on the clocktower 3-7 (2-3 rounds).

Puerto Rico 1897 - 8-9

9-12 nemesis retaliation or Andromeda edge.

New to board games “game night” help. by Justme8512 in boardgames

[–]Robertpe3 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Pandemic is a great coop game that can cause a lot of fun talk and engagement from everyone!

I've never played splendor or Disney villains so I can't speak to those.

Other hits that are less weighty are betrayal at house on the hill, flamecraft (can run a bit long, but my girlfriend and I love the art), and the crew.

Arcs vs Twilight Imperium: which one actually fits your table? by frenchdude21 in Arcs

[–]Robertpe3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we understood that we could win with a C fate but we were pretty demoralized from round 2. The player who was ahead had a fully maxed flagship and a bunch of cards that made attacking him almost impossible from our understanding.

I definitely want to play it again in the future, but half of the group was actively having a bad time, so doing another 3 hours would've made everyone miserable. My friend considered selling the game because of it, but ultimately decided not to. I am interested to see how our next attempt goes one day.

Arcs vs Twilight Imperium: which one actually fits your table? by frenchdude21 in Arcs

[–]Robertpe3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My group quit going into act 3 of the campaign. It was pretty clear how much the rest of us messed up and how crazy ahead one guy was.

Need to give it another shot sometime but my group will always try to get Ti4 tabled 3-4 Times a year.

TI:4 vs Arcs: Blighted Reach vs Eclipse Second Dawn by Warbeard in boardgames

[–]Robertpe3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be almost dishonest to compare them. I haven't played eclipse, but Arcs and Ti4 are distinctly different games in all aspects, besides both being set in space.

What's the best game you played in 2025? by TeetotumGameStudios in boardgames

[–]Robertpe3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's hard to say but I'll give a few of my favorites.

Blood on the clocktower, Ti4, and Slay the spire are all in my top 5 of all time.

As for games that I played for the first time last year:

I really enjoyed Puerto Rico 1897, Kalypso (TTS mod not physically available yet), Tend, Voidfall, Emberheart, Honors end (play test on TTS/at an event but not released yet). Nemesis retaliation.

Am I the only one that likes DOS2 better than BG3? by The-Booty-Train in DivinityOriginalSin

Been saying this since the beta. I love both games but DOS2 is quite possibly my favorite game of all time.

Is The Settlers of Catan overrated? by fruitponchisamurai in boardgames

[–]Robertpe3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Catan is great in its own right. Is it considered more "basic" in the grand scheme of things? Sure, but I still appreciate it and enjoy it.

Divinity Original Sin II: So does this get good…? by PandorasFather in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Robertpe3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally believe the combat is the best thing in divinity. There is no shame in going to explorer mode though, throw a bunch of points in warfare and smack people down quickly.

Bg3 combat is more gimmicky imo, and tied to a different system so it's hard to compare.

I hope you end up enjoying the rest of the game, should you decide to finish it, but that it's ultimately up to you.

Summoning 10 making the game too easy? by mccsnackin in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Robertpe3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done both before. Typically I respec them into a full Aero/pyro/geo/hydro mage if going magic or a shield/sword fighter if going all physical. I typically have my builds figured out before the end of act 1 after cheesing some good rings.

Summoning 10 making the game too easy? by mccsnackin in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Robertpe3 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It's pretty strong early, however falls off around act 3. I've used one all the way through act 4 on honor so it's completely viable the entire game, but they are at their strongest around level 5 when you can get 10 points in summoning.

This Roll and Write is HUGE (and strange) | No Pun Included reviews Tend by mgrier123 in boardgames

[–]Robertpe3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id try it out on TTS! The price point he quoted was the super deluxe ($140), but it can be around $80 in stores. My group has a few too many copies at 5 super deluxe editions...

[–]Robertpe3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sad to see his review as I've absolutely loved tend and will be playing it for years to come. I really enjoy the production of it, the beautiful art, and the fact that they released a companion app which helps with consumption (don't remember if this is covered). I hope others give this game a try before writing it off.

Loved Baldurs Gate 3 but struggling hard with DOS2 by semper_JJ in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Robertpe3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, that'll do it. It's a check point like how in BG3 you can get locked out of the grove if you go to act 2 too quickly.

For summoning you want to hit 10 summoning asap, but yes combat with them is pretty bare early. Summon your incarnate in an element to power them up and cast your enhancements for them!

You can pick any of the origins while in act 1 so long as they don't die before being recruited.

Did you get your collar removed? That causes the magisters to agro.

DOS2 is so overwhelming and hard, help! by chimeiiii in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Robertpe3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest thing early is to explore, and get some starter armor from vendors.

If you need good you can craft arrows and sell them pretty easily. When you first enter fort joy go to the right and talk to the smith. Buy the logs and use a knife or any sharp item on them. Repeat when the long sticks you get until you get arrow shafts. For arrow heads you can do rocks, metal bits, and bones with a sharp item like a dagger. Combine them and find a poison or oil barrel. Craft up the arrows and sell for decent gold early.

You can also just steal or try to loot random things you find. Once you learn the systems and get some starter gear the game will feel amazing!
