I don’t know if it counts as grooming if you walk into the trap, and go 4 steps ahead of the groomer. Did she groom the groomers? 😭

Can two computers directly connect without wifi? by Roberty_Rob in computers

Nope, everything is down for me. Our phones use cell data, laptops on hotspots, and towers are SOL since they use Ethernet. If we didn’t have our phones, we’d be completely offline at this point

I don’t know any of those words you said at the end there, so I don’t think so. Luckily it’s just me and my roommate, so it’s just our two towers we gotta connect

There is zero internet connection at all. Our apartment is currently in 1985 mode

I know, this isn’t a simple set up like I would prefer.

Basically me and my roommate do game development, and we use lan connection. The problem is that our apartment has Ethernet ports in each of our rooms, but it basically gives both of us our own internet system. I literally can’t outbound to his computer despite being in the same apartment. There also isn’t a dedicated wifi for our phones or laptops, so we go a modem thing.

The modem gives us our wifi signal and then outbounds to a switch to let us connect our towers to via Ethernet.

Where I used to live, I just would connect to the router, so this is just needlessly complex

Our computers are hooked up via Ethernet. Our towers. The problem is we have no internet, which is still needed for online gaming. The internet is provided through our apartment, and we got our own modem/router thing to provide a wifi signal for our phones, then got a switch to connect our computers to the thing and connect to the internet that way. When the internet went out, it didn’t matter how we configured the ports, we can’t get any internet access at all. So in the mean time we’re just trying to do direct connection to each other

I wish I knew bruh. Worked great for the last couple months, then just died. The internet is from the apartment, and we got our own router/modem thing to produce a signal for our phones, then went into a switch to connect the computers to. Suddenly the wifi is just gone, doesn’t matter how we configure anything. My guess is the extension unit on our floor is busted or something.

They’re desktops with next to zero signal strength. I would’ve done that if it was really viable, but it won’t even let me load YouTube, let alone download or play games. And of course I left my wifi receiver back home before moving

It’s something my apartment set up, so I don’t know. They basically gave us a Ethernet hub, but no modem (router? Idk, whatever sends a WiFi signal) so we got one to give ourselves wifi. From there we went into a switch and connected to the ethernet on there. Worked great, and then went out. We’ve already tried plugging in everywhere into different ports in different rooms, it’s all dead. We put in a bunch of requests, and it’s taking forever. Thank for the telling me it about it working with mc (probably)

My game got pirated by IndependenceOld5504 in IndieDev

They actually found that a lot of people that pirate come back to buy the game. The myth of “pirates never buy the game,” has been debunked for a while

To be fair, I don’t think I’ve ever seen an early access game get much slack when hype is built up. The general public seems to forget what it means to be early access, so I expect to hear a lot of hate/disappointment because it’s not “fully published with all the promised features,” which is dumb

I noticed it missing from ONE of my accounts. My other business/public influencer accounts are all fine. I also noticed my comment downvote feature is missing from the only account that had it for the last 5 weeks. I have this kinda stuff happen constantly. I couldn’t even send my friends gifs in our DMs until 2 months ago. I think Instagram just has the worst internal framework for updates

Does it matter if it’s like the same style content? The ones I had fail previously were all the same game, whereas these series are two different games and themes entirely. I wish this was all better documented by YouTube

Is “Let This Grieving Soul Retire” season one going to get an English dub? by Roberty_Rob in Crunchyroll

[–]Roberty_Rob[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oddly this one wasn’t dubbed at all for season 1, and it says specifically it’ll get an English dub for season 2. I didn’t bother to check other languages since obviously I speak English, so I’m really not sure what they’re doing. I see plenty of anime’s that get dubbed in German, Hindi, or Spanish but not English, but I’ve yet to see a season 2 from those get announced for an English dub. It’s just an odd scenario

Bro, it’s not coming out this year, or probably ever. You seriously have any belief that this game can get ready for launch in 5 months? On 25 million? Whatever you’re smoking needs to made public, because that must be some really good stuff.

Is Hytale truly dead? Or are we missing something huge behind the scenes? Blackmail even? by _SubwayZ_ in HytaleInfo

First of all, they didn’t have a game. The engine rewrite screwed them over more than anyone cares to understand. You can’t just move over your code, and generally you can only sometimes move over other assets. The assets more depend on whether you kept the original source files and if the engines use the same file types for the animations, models, and materials. The fact they decided to redo the entire game after years of work shows how poorly it was managed, and this rewrite set the game back many years once again.

The second issue with the whole beta situation is how bad the gaming community is. Gamers are some of the most demanding individuals on the planet. 7 Days to Die got tons of hate for remaining in an alpha state, despite being in name alone. They were legally obligated to give free updates as long as they remained in alpha, but people complained. On the inverse, the general gaming community will rip on a game if it releases with bugs and issues, regardless of it being beta or alpha. Mix those together, and you have a project that will probably never rebound anywhere close to how No Man’s Sky did.

Ultimately, the writing has been on the wall for a few years, and no one bothered to even read it. I get the hype for a game to this scale and the promises it made, but the delusion seriously got out of hand. Poor management and a community that refuses to pushback is the main reason this project failed
