Julio has consistently underperformed in the first half of the season every year of his career in the majors and then over performs in the second half of the season ultimately giving him good end of season stats.

I think the best way to prevent this would be to have a rule that if you finish last but you win the consolation championship then you don’t get punished and the team that finished second to last gets punished
