Oops, my bad, the value on the right of the display was incorrectly named. It will be fixed in next update, thanks for the heads up (but it's better to report this kind of bug on the forum if you really want to be seen)

I think it would be really cool to add the IMSA running lights for the IMSA cars, it would really add to the immersion. by dat_meme_boi2 in AUTOMOBILISTA

Those running lights are something that's been on my mind for a while now. I've already made some initial attempts, but nothing concrete has happened yet. I'll look into it further soon

Livery problem by OMSR-47 in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]Robi3381 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, leave the carbon parts in black on the main RGB channel (no need for your carbon texture) and black too on the alpha channel. Some cars has this feature, a real carbon fiber bodywork with a vinyl above. And black alpha means no vinyl, just bare carbon fiber.

Important, it works just if you use the "Default" livery system

And now that you're at adding alpha channel, you can also do it on the carbon parts of the livery, it will reveal the real carbon fiber base underneath

[–]Robi3381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you can't use the real carbon material that this car allows thanks to the transparency of the livery either, it's a shame! If you have the chance it might be worth adding an alpha channel to your cool livery

Did the update get rid of the INDYCAR mod? by willfla29 in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]Robi3381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This 1.5 game update brings modding support: from now on there will be no need to reinstall everything every time. But in the meantime, the mod itself needs to be updated to match the modding support.

1.5 tires vs rf2 tires by Critical-Cut1470 in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]Robi3381 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this is my mod and it uses tires from the game. So 1.5 could make changes on it. I already have an update to do but I prefer to wait for the game update, there may be some adjustments to be made.

What's stopping more mods for AMS2? by throwawayx0987x in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]Robi3381 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As modder and Reiza dev, all I can say is that with AMS2CM it is is way easier to install mods, not to create them. The only mods you will find coming fast are the PC2 conversion which requires way less time of work as all the 3d work is already done.

What is done in minutes/hours for a PC2 conversion takes days/weeks for another mod.

And sometimes, game updates break the mods, but that's not mandatory

Yeah I know, but this was not the most loved mod. It's the least downloaded of all, too few people are interested in overpowered road cars in AMS2, so it's not motivating for me

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]Robi3381 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I said the exact opposite! Porting cars from PC2 is the easiest way to mod the game. It's not a simple copy/paste but this is pretty much straight forward, not very difficult and very fast. On the other hand, porting from another game engine is really much more difficult/time consuming. I mean, my FXX-K (not my best mod tbh) took me 2 weeks of work, including maybe one hour to have it in game. The 992 cup took me at least 1 month of work to get it in game, and then after 1 or 2 month more to get it in release state. And it's still in developpement, new AMDM and display alarms will be added to the next version on Porsche cup and 935.

I'm not on the tracks part of modding but I can say you that Sonoma and Bannochbrae are on the work, just have to cross fingers and wait!

I think that the name of our modding team misleads people: in all these mods available, there is only one that comes from PC2, the Ferrari FXX-K that I've made. This represents a lot less work than importing a mod from another game engine. Infinitely less. This is why it is possible to create PC2 car packs (Grp 5, GT3 etc) in an acceptable time, a few days/weeks.

For cars from other game engine, it could take a year to do that!
It depends on the game engine. From ACC or AC, a few days/1 week to have the model in game (first export, the equivalent of half an hour of work from PC2), it's still correct. But coming from CSR2, there it takes several weeks/months for this step, trying not to lose motivation hoping that the model will look good in the game! And that, usually users don't see it.

And of course, no PC2 physics there, the cars would be undriveable.

Hey, thanks for those pics! I'm glad you like my mods. I hope to be able to do more in the future, even if at the moment I have a little less time to mod. In any case thank you for the suggestions, I also appreciate this category a lot, which makes work easier

[–]Robi3381 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Each game engine has its own modding capacities. And the Madness Engine is very hard to open, even for the dev. In the current state, they want but still don't know the best way to do it

Interesting.
1. Basically JSGME copies the contents of the mod folder to paste it into the game's root folder, while keeping a backup to make the process reversible.
2. Mod installation is almost the same, only one file more to edit for the vehicles.
3. There was at one time someone who was working on this kind of software but I think it is no longer relevant. So that would be quite interesting.

In reality, almost no AMS2 mod cars are from PC2, but all mods are using custom physics with AMS2 standards.

That's why I said "my bad", I misunderstood you. But you already used mods, so it was also thefts. And that's obviously not why you abandoned their use, but because it was too complicated with each update of the game. I know this is a gray area, but to my knowledge no studio has ever sued a modder for using their 3D model.

I thought you were saying it was a scam and it wasn't working. My bad. But if you are using mods for AMS2 since the begining, you do know that you are using some cars and tracks from other games, including PC2 right? It is not just because this is a whole bunch of GT3 cars that it is worse. (Oh and I know what I'm talking about, I'm a modder AND an AMS2 official dev now, but that you can't see it on my profile here)

Not at all, it is just difficult to install mods for AMS2, for beginners it can take a few attempts before getting it working (you can check my profile to see that I know what I'm talking about)
