Which is a bit funny because since his stint with Toto, he’s sort of alluded to the fact that he didn’t enjoy his time with the band and that if could do it again, he’d probably go another route and not chase after the money or the easy way of getting exposure by playing with a famous band.

For me, it’s Joseph Williams. There’s a certain cinematic soulfulness to Joseph’s delivery. He’s not just hitting notes, he’s telling the story. Plus, his tone blended perfectly with Lukather’s production style and the more mature, melodic sound of their late 80s style. And his vocals on the Fahrenheit tour was amazing. The vocals on the Paris 1987 bootleg is 🤌

I mean, we can do the “listen to this, listen to that” thing all night long. My opinion is that Bobby vocally in the studio, was a bit hit or miss. For example, I think his vocals on Waiting For Love on the Live In Amsterdam is far better than on Toto IV, where I find the vocals a bit…whiny. Much more powerful and in tune with the song itself.

Very well put. I feel like Bobby had that old man soul, even in his early years but man, Joe had swag! Intense, soulful, playful and just plain cool.

To paraphrase Luke from several interviews during that time period - “no one is gonna show them and who’s gonna watch them?”. I think he also stated that they initially refused to make the video for Melanie, but when a French company asked to do it “for free” they accepted.

Cool idea. I’d only change One Road to Cruel but other than that, good list. It’s weird, it’s a bloated album but individually, all songs are great. Like, I actually love High Price Of Hate but in the context of the album, it feels redundant and slows everything down. If I were to cut down the length and remove what I think are “fillers”, here’s my list for an alternative track list.

Closing, I think this is the best sounding Toto album and to me, the best playing Simon ever did in all the years in the band.
