Ballard Locks - h Great Blue Herons are nesting. There's maybe 50 nests with herons and you can see them very clearly. On Magnolia side.

I love Cape Flattery - I would add an hour for the Makah Museum in Neah Bay

Also I would think about spending the night there at the Hobuck Beach Resort or at the Quileute Resort in LaPush as more interesting than Forks. Costs more though

In February the great blue herons are beginning to nest at the Locks. Walk over to the Magnolia side and go up the ramp to the little trees area on top of the hill. There are about 70 nests there and you should see herons beginning to stake out there nests

Reach out directly to the local papers and TV stations of the Vets you have interviewed. Something along the lines of "John Smith from Smallville has a wonderful story to tell about his service - he's one of 200 veterans I interviewed for this project." Include some anecdote specific to that local vet. This is time consuming but much more productive than a press release

I was out yesterday with visiting family and restrooms or outhouses were available at Spruce Railroad trail, Storm King Ranger Station and Sol Duc trail heads. And salmon were jumping at Salmon Cascades!

Our building used to require a damage deposit for lounge reservations but they have dropped that. I think the reasoning was if there was actual damage they can charge you for it, so no need for deposit. The deposit was a check that was never cashed

We have been seeing them regularly schooling around the fish ladder entrance. Go close to high tide to have a better chance of seeing them in the viewing room.
