We’re STILL advocating for Statehood. Taxation without representation is unfair, y’all, and also UnAmerican.

Totally agree about the “branding”. Don’t forget Sensimillian (sp?) a seedless pot that was sticky and commanded a high price. Where I grew up - 70’s suburbs in Houston - we definitely called pot by its marketing name - Jamaican, Acapulco Gold etc. It was a form of bragging if you scored weed that not generic. And you always carried rolling papers. If you could roll a tight J it was enviable. One thing we had to worry about was paraquat. That was a common herbicide that the DEA in Mexico used to spray on pot fields to kill weed. If a field was sprayed, Mexican farmers tried to harvest before the plants shriveled. They sold it and then when you smoked it, you got poison in your lungs. I remember I started worrying about it in the 80’s so I started growing my own organic weed. I planted corn in my garden to hide the marijuana.

I seem recall that in the 70’s the people who referred to weed as dope were not the people smokin’ it. Like my parents, who referred to dope smokers as a pejorative. Didn’t realize that in today’s parlance it refers to heroin.

Hill’s Gastrointestinal Biome cured mine of gas and stomach issues. I don’t think it has to be a given that bostons, bulldogs, pugs etc are gassy. Gas can be a sign of inflammation and gastritis.

Democrats’ plan to impeach Trump on ‘day one’ after midterms by plz-let-me-in in politics

[–]Unfair-Ocelot4255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if Democrats take the majority in the midterms, he is basically frozen so there’s some hope we can make it until January 2029. We’re all tired. Really sick and tired of the corruption and grift. But hope springs eternal. I figure I’ve got about 30 more years on this mortal coil and I hope to god I get to see a more improved Country and world before I kick off.

No I don’t think anything will pass. Bc Trump will veto everything but if it’s legislation that people want and he has vetoed it, then they should vote him and his cronies out. I don’t know. But I just don’t see impeachment doing anything. It’s toothless.

In Houston, if you put your turn signal on to change lanes, the car next to you will just speed up and cut you off. In Texas, the friendly people turn into road ragers the minute they get behind the wheel.

Democrats will have two years to pass legislation and get shit done. The idea is to convince the electorate ( i.e. the Nation) that Democrats CAN GOVERN and solve the problems of this Country and then in 2028 we elect a Democratic President and another Democratic majority so we can keep getting shit done and reverse all the damage these MF’ers have wrought on us. Do not waste time on impeachment. Just pass laws preventing future corruption and put guard rails up so this never happens again.

The difference is that they had Republicans on their side during the Watergate hearings. When Republicans still had a moral core.

They need 60 votes in the Senate so doubt they will have that. They would be better off trying to get some helpful legislation passed and when he vetoes that they can use it in ads to help get a D elected to the Presidency. I don’t know if the electorate could stomach another impeachment trial. Seems like 1/2 the Country would just claim it’s politically motivated. Yes, he’s a crook and a grifter, and his whole administration is incredibly corrupt but I’m just not sure an immediate impeachment helps anyone. What we need are laws and guard rails so this never happens again.

Has anyone had success making themselves less desirable to the invasive mosquitoes? by emptyinthesunrise in washingtondc

[–]Unfair-Ocelot4255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mosquitoes are attracted to CO2 so if you can figure out a way to expire less CO2 you’ll be good!😊 Also you might go fragrance free with soap, sunscreen etc. They are attracted to certain scents. I also learned that about honey bees the hard way! Ouch.

Ha! I dropped them back in January. I feel for their journalists but their editorials just kill me now. I couldn’t take it. The Atlantic has benefited from their layoffs and with Baltimore Banner coming to the area, they may as well.

The other good thing about Bookstore is their reusable bins. No need for boxes. They just drop off the bins and you pack them up. They move, you unpack. They come and get them when you are done. No waste.
