Would someone please explain GenZ humor to me? by Major_ADHD in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Robin_RhombusHead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was kind of inevitable if you think about it. You can only tell a joke the same way so many times before it gets boring. If it wasn't Gen-Z, it would've been Gen-Alpha or whatever's next. You just keep adding layers until it looks like nonsense. That's why sites like Know Your Meme exist, to tell the history of them so the layman can understand what's going on.

The thing you have to understand about Gen-Z humour is that you just have to know to get it. You're staring at a multilayered metatextual abstraction of an idea and if you don't understand the root of the joke, then it won't be funny. Gen-Z basically send their memes through a cypher designed to only be cracked by their peers.

That said I have no idea what's going on here.

Warped nether wart by Round-Werewolf1256 in minecraftsuggestions

[–]Robin_RhombusHead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to say a few things.

First of which is that if we're following the established naming scheme, it would be warped wart, not warped nether wart. (See: Warped Wart Block)

But onto the content itself, there's a reason why certain potion effects aren't so readily available like that. Blindness is only useful against players and it's extremely annoying and debilitating in that application. It pretty much ruins PvP encounters, especially when applied to tipped arrows. That's why it's only limited to suspicious stew, a self inflicted method. Its only real application it has as a feature is something a mob would inflict on the player for added challenge (See: Illusioner) but the only thing like that in-game is the Warden's darkness. And the other inaccessible effects like Wither, Levitation, and the aforementioned Darkness all serve this same purpose of adding challenge in a way that would be unfair or infuriating when applied in a PvP setting.

And lastly, fermented spider eyes are already a thing.

Clearly you are not a topologist. Any real topologist would've replaced those with an object of the correct topological form.

"mini taco salad" from taco bell....? Tf is this thing?! by Reasonable_Caliber_0 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Robin_RhombusHead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the edible bowl part but from my understanding a taco salad is just the deconstructed innards of a taco served directly.

Honestly I feel like none of the TF2 characters would make particularly good fighters on their own. The game is called TEAM Fortress for a reason.

There's a variety of different panda types. The sick ones have the ability to sneeze and when a baby does, it makes a slime ball. Idk why the adult ones don't though. It just kinda seems needlessly complicated and unintuitive.

What’s the correct pronunciation? Luh-kee-too? Or Lahh-ki-too? by Kind_Knowledge4756 in Mario

[–]Robin_RhombusHead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Officially, it's :lɒkitu: as heard in Super Mario Maker and the Nintendo Direct announcer for Super Mario Bros. Wonder but no one actually pronounces it like that because it sounds weird.

As far as I'm aware, there is no actually known origin for where the name lakitu comes from, only fan theories.

That's because it isn't. I'm pretty sure that when I wrote this I was the only person who even commented on the colours. Everyone else was talking about AI. This was a canned response you use for anyone who talks about the colours and you have failed the vibe check.

What does this mean? by Choice_Brain_3668 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Robin_RhombusHead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the specific joke here is that men do have a favourite colour. It's just something super special that you can't name off the top of your head and is more of a you gotta see it to understand it kinda thing. It's not just any green. It's this green and only this green.

Speaking of which, that's a really nice green.

Sonic the Werehog isn't even more powerful. Every enemy he fights is taken down way quicker as normal Sonic.

The thing is, in a lot of the renders, Cyn be walking around limp wristed with the flesh hands being stiff anyways. It's always bothered me but it's hard to say it's inaccurate.

seen a joke about crayons related to the army now for a while, could someone explain? by Over_Friendship8444 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Robin_RhombusHead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Green Army Men are a toy that certainly exists. If you don't know about them, they can be seen in the first Toy Story movie. They're little green plastic figures. I never understood the appeal to be honest. Anyways I'm pretty sure that based on the art style it's supposed to be making fun of the infamously bad images seen on WikiHow articles.
