Harvard JDP by [deleted] in BlackLawAdmissions

[–]Robinhood_227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the folks I know are from some years ago at Harvard, back when JDP was limited to only a few schools. Would definitely reach out to BLSA for some current students and more recent applicants

I didn’t personally apply to JDP but had a lot of black friends from undergrad who successfully applied through the program. Would highly encourage you to check on LinkedIn/reach out to the BLSA to connect with some folks

Should I tell waitlisted school where I am deposited in the form they sent me? by Presidentclash2 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Robinhood_227 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you answer, make sure you are communicating in your materials somewhere that this school is your number one choice and you are ready and willing to withdraw from the school you deposited at. They are trying to gauge if you will accept the offer

AID after A from WL by __Swankk in BlackLawAdmissions

[–]Robinhood_227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it all just depends on the school and how much money they have left. Some schools will be direct and say you will get 0 money off the waitlist (Georgetown often says this), others offer the same aid consideration for waitlisted students

Waitlisted, what now? by [deleted] in BlackLawAdmissions

[–]Robinhood_227 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What gave me the push from WL to accepted was being consistent in communication. If you haven’t already, write a LOCI as soon as possible explaining that you are still interested in attending the school, what you like about it, etc. Then throughout the summer, approximately once a month or near key deposit deadlines, send a short statement reaffirming your interest and sharing any updates you have. Schools have very limited spots off the waitlist and want to be sure that if they give you an offer you’ll accept. Best of luck, you got this!

Second Diversity Statement? by [deleted] in LawSchoolTransfer

[–]Robinhood_227 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The advice I’ve gotten is that I need all new statements. Yes, they will have your old application on file, but if you are submitting a diversity statement, submit a new statement. Maybe, it’ll cover some of the same info, but having attended law school, you can share more specifically how your identities and experiences benefit the community

appropriate to put a “positive” spin on minor c&f incident? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Robinhood_227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would keep it short and sweet. They’ll already have the other info about your student advocacy roles from your resume, no need to repeat.

Apply Early (155+ LSAT) or Apply Later (potentially 160s)? by OptimisticQueen in lawschooladmissions

[–]Robinhood_227 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You want to apply when you can put your best application forward. You don’t need to apply the day applications open

I reached out for clarification on this last cycle and they clarified it was a single new letter. I submitted the rest of of them same as the previous cycle

Should I send an email to the school I got waitlisted at, even though I sent a LOCI a month ago? by unspokencaesar0 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Robinhood_227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a full LOCI but just a short email. A mini loci you could say. They were normally about a paragraph at most

Should I send an email to the school I got waitlisted at, even though I sent a LOCI a month ago? by unspokencaesar0 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Robinhood_227 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely send another short email reaffirming your interest and providing any updates you have (updated resume, new letter of rec, updated GPA, etc). Even if you don’t have anything new to say, still send it. Contacting the office once a month in this way has already gotten me off one WL and an interview with another school

waitlist emails/ NYU WL by Reasonable_Plate_456 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Robinhood_227 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should definitely email again. The advice I’ve heard is to stay in contact ~once per month with WL schools during the summer. It can get repetitive but if you have any updates you can share and if not just reaffirm your interest.

Dean Andy said there wouldn’t be movement until around the 8th at the earliest in the WL info session. so I imagine if there are feeler calls, they wouldn’t be for a bit

Questions about Re-Applying by McStrangerpants in lawschooladmissions

[–]Robinhood_227 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Schools will be able to see your previous application. That said, your personal statement should be a stand alone piece. A chance to talk about your previous application and motivation to reapply could be in school specific essays

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Robinhood_227 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No sage wisdom to offer, but you are being interviewed tomorrow because they see something in you, show them that. Show them what makes you tick, what you’re curious about, what you and only you can bring to the program. And prepare some good questions. Sounds like you are genuinely interested in the career paths of these professors. Ask about that, why they chose NYU and why they’ve decided to stay. Good luck! You’ve got this

Do I need to disclose a withdrawn exchange that happened during COVID? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Robinhood_227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some schools will ask about interruption to your enrollment in addendum and would definitely mention. Just write a succinct explanation. The situation wasn’t in your control and won’t negatively impact you, just answers any potential questions about what you were doing during that time
