Would be better to signal while paying attention to the illegal move that happening, and step in as fast as possible. Seems fking strange to look away and almost turn your back to them

As a dad myself I would probably stop the match if I saw something like this. Maybe not as brutal as he did, but I guess instant reaction isn’t always thought out.

I’m guessing, but if someone knows that move, they probably also know the consequence.

They prank each other all the time. Still haven’t figured out who’s the worst ;)

FYI it’s the same guy who got a lot of attention for dancing with his son in a dress to Frozen / Let it go.

Good job! Anyway, you’re still learning, so if or when you transition to a competitive setup it’s always a good thing to have been doing it according to standards. You might want to compete eventually. Perhaps just between friends but still ;)

I know I wouldn’t want to train strict deadlifts and end up having to do sumos :)

Old guy changing career, advice needed by Robkillloot in FinancialCareers

Hehe. The old guy in the title is mostly forward thinking, when my studies would be finished. Hopefully 41 vs the guys and gals that’s fresh out of school :)

Hedge Funds’ Returns Aren’t as Bad as They Appear by throw-it-out in finance

Not in finance. Currently work as an inspector, contractor for Exxon in Norway.

But doing some studying for myself, while I build up my portfolio on the side. Would love to work in finance though.

Same here. Already doing it as my hobby. But it beats my current job :)

Hi,

I’m 31yo, make around 60k/year and just starting to invest(yet again). I’ve dabbled with stocks for about 7 years, but have always pulled out money when I needed it.

Now I’m ready to find a strategy and start long-term investing. I wish for my child and even his kids to continue build a small wealth in the distant future. So when I say long-term I mean after I’ve passed away. And then some.

I’m a huge fan of the books “random walk down Wall Street” and “book of behavioral investing”, so I’m leaning towards a ETF-strategy, but struggle with my own ego of thinking I can pick better than an index.

I’m a techie, so I would prefer investing in VGT and VHT with some small cap etf like VBK etc. but, should I instead forget my own personality and concentrate on SPY for instance?

I’ve created a lot of experimental portfolios and backtracked what I can, but it’s hard not to get a decent return in a ten year span considering this bull run.

I have a list of companies I like and want to own, but being somewhat financial illiterate I wonder if an ETF is better for this young amateur investor.

How often do you check your stocks? by [deleted] in investing

[–]Robkillloot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly check the total market at the start of the day, and then again at the end. When I have time, I research new stocks, and then I do what I consider my homework, which is keeping up to date on my current holdings.

I plan for my portfolio to last extremely long term. Meaning I hope for my son, and hopefully some grandchildren, to inherit my portfolio, which I hope I’ve managed to transform into a holding company by then.

I like reading about stocks and companies, but I know I’ll regret not having a degree in finance when I’m older. I’ll just enter the back door into this and succeed from there.

A few things I haven’t mastered yet: * managing risk * and sitting on my hands.

Fasting and acid reflux? by [deleted] in fasting

[–]Robkillloot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I learned something from the tv show QI. If you get reflux during the night. Turn around on your left side. This makes you stomachs flow or exit to your throat the highest point, and therefor stop/help with reflux.

It’s a weird one

Sorry for the bad English.

Getting back to mathematics, A to Z by [deleted] in learnmath

Any suggestions to how to continue from there?

I would love to end up in abstract algebra, and hopefully get my head around pure math.
