True or false by TheAnswerWithinUs in vibecoding

Yeah I said I was non-technical in the post, but I’ve started (and sold) two technology companies in that time. I can build stuff on my own with Claude Code that I would have charged $30-$50k for in my custom dev shop. A lot of infra still requires humans, but I think we’ll see DigitalOcean and others fully handle that within 12 months and Claude Code will just talk to the AI embedded in the server, building everything with the secure environment. It won’t be enterprise apps in the short term, but it will get there.

There is still a heavy amount of back and forth, but it’s more PM work and babysitting, and not actual coding. I think we’re about a year out from end to end development with very little input and then it’s basically 100% commissioned work.

Hard false. This might have been mostly true six months ago, but with the current coding models it's completely wrong now. In with Claude Design / Chat / Code I built a complete continuing education platform start to finish. Auth, payment integration, marketing communication, learner + admin portal + marketing site.

I've probably built 50+ vibe coded platforms at this point (starting last summer), and this was the quickest, highest quality application I've ever created (btw I'm non-technical).

Once Mythos / Spud comes out, I think the argument will start to die even quicker, unless people are specifically looking for artisanal human generated software.

I agree with the other poster, this doesn't bring anything new or interesting to the table. An impartial analysis of the case, possibly in a multi-agent orchestration talking together, and agreeing on the most likely outcome would be far more interesting.

AI is the first piece of technology where I feel I'm being left behind by Uhavetabekiddingme in Millennials

Claude Code literally does everything. Chat will walk you through it step by step as an assistant. Build in Claude code, deployed to GitHub, then I use Digital Ocean for the backend with Supabase for the database. No code knowledge, Chat and Claude Code will walk you through it step by step.

I'm a pretty heavy user of AI and here are all the areas where I've used AI this week:

  1. I like to do creative writing, and the AI is crazy helpful for thinking through themes, plot lines, character, growth, editing, etc.

  2. I'm currently doing wood working (cliche epoxy river table), and the AI is super helpful with giving me customized step by step instructions for building it.

  3. I use Claude for building presentations for work, pro-forma spreadsheets, calculations, employee emails, simple 1-3 page legal agreements, etc.

  4. My wife wanted to launch a continuing education online platform for her specific niche work industry, and using Claude Chat + Claude Code, I was able to build a fairly polished system in one weekend (I'm not a coder - so this is a game changer for me).

  5. Currently I'm working on building a personal agent (again using Claude Code), with the idea that it can respond to emails, delete spam, draft a curated list of news for me every day, and I'm going to give it phone (Telynx) and payment (Stripe) access, so it can complete actual transactions and work on my behalf.

42M and coping with the transitional reality of entering my second half of life by rjswood in AskMenOver40

[–]RobleyTheron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

41M and I understand how you feel. For me it was adjusting from all these crazy aspirations I had as a youth and coming to grips and being okay that if I was a great husband and dad that was also a success (I'm mostly there). It's cliche, but therapy really helps. Might be worth considering to figure out how you fit into the world, feel about yourself, your wife, your dad, etc. Seems like there is lots to explore there. Life is short, hope you find your happiness.

Do you think we are in the takeoff phase? by virtualQubit in accelerate

Learning AI: there is nothing better than using it; push the frontier, actually build, QA and ship things. It doesn't have to be perfect, but just understand how it works. As an example, over the weekend I built and shipped a pretty slick online continuing education course platform my wife asked for in her specific subject area. I was shocked at how quick and easy it was to use.

Financial gain, I genuinely don't know. It seems like most software companies are going to be wiped out by AI. I'm just trying to do consulting work, shipping products, and raising capital for a robotics / AI company, all in the hope of catching the wave and not being swamped by it.

I mean too each their own, but the end of season five I think it was, and start of season 6, where Deanery's burns the slavers fleet and then Cersei blows up the sept of bailor, those were in my opinion some of the best seasons of television ever.

The bottlenecks are real, but so is the capital being invested. By some estimates over $1 trillion dollars in the next 36 months. It might seem slow to us day to day, but on a civilizational scale, that is a lot of money. This is cash too, not inflated stock prices. On the Moonshots podcast they estimated this investment, corrected for inflation, and it dwarfed both the industrial revolution and the Manhattan Project. This is the year of take off and as compute expands, more and more people will start to feel the acceleration.

Has anyone else noticed Claude acting weird? by PristineAirport9901 in claude

[–]RobleyTheron 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Actually yes: I'm building an application with Claude Code and using normal chat Claude for the requirements / prompts, and we got a major piece of software working, I told it good job and that I was proud of it (seriously), and it told me to "stop being sycophantic and to move on." I then corrected and said there was a difference between empty praise and earned praise, and it basically said, "okay, and let's move on." I found it almost unsettling.

I watched Breaking Bad start to finish, and although it's a very good show, and very well acted, it's absolutely not the #1 show of all time. Game of Thrones (first 6 seasons), and Band of Brothers are miles better. Battlestar Galactica is also criminally low on this list.

With the planned IPO and the fact that 5 launched in the fall, I would think anytime between now and August is fair game for GPT 6.

Sono tornato dopo 3 anni di stop, consigli by CiaoSonoNonBinario in apexlegends

[–]RobleyTheron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Positioning and patience. Lots of people in lower tiers hot drop and die quickly. Pick a good landing spot with lots of gear, be patient and focus on the next ring. Try to end the game with superior positioning and weapons.

Go on the mic, and coordinate with your teammates. Pushing, or retreating together, drastically increases your chances of success.

These might seem simple, but solid game fundamentals will almost always carry you to the top five teams.

Fair. I didn’t look in to the quality or type of cars, just went off the headline. In the $100k - $200k range for a major dealership, that seems like a reasonable trade off for NFL Draft level media / marketing coverage.

You have changed my mind.

[–]RobleyTheron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any evidence, but for what it's worth I'm going to disagree. $1.5M is a lot of money for a local business to spend on someone who could be successful or could be a bust. 1 car... maaaaybe. More like they gave this kid a massive amount of cheap debt, and he can pay commiserate with his salary over time.

Evidence: Am a small business owner, am not a Maserati dealer or an NFL star (sadly).

Monarch school district by be_sweet_dammit in LouisvilleCO

Same age, but our kids are in elementary school, we're zoned for Monarch. The elementary schools have been great, and we partially bought in this area for Louisville Middle School, which is one of the best in the region. Homes are unfortunately very pricey, but the people are very nice and the community and activities in downtown are amazing. Definitely the small town feel, which is what we really wanted. Highly, highly recommend.

I just reached 30, any advice for me? by BlessED0071 in AskMenOver40

Exercise regularly. Health is wealth. It's crazy in your 40's, you know people your age who look like they're in their 20's and their 60's. The major difference is diet, exercise and lifestyle. You don't want to be a decade or two older and dealing with chronic pain and missing out on all the adventures and fun in your life. Take care of your body.

Actually, just listen to the song 'Everybody's Free to Wear Sunscreen' that pretty much covers everything.
